You can pray from now till tomorrow, it will have no impact on a US VO if you are not qualified for the visa. If it was by prayer, every member of winners chapel, mountain of fire and redeemed would be US citizens today.

I totally disagree with your quote, prayer is the key to everything, believe it or not. Have seen people who went for interview unprepared and they got their visa(that is God's favour and the work of prayers) and have also seen people who went for interview well prepared and they were delayed.. so what can you say about that? Well if prayers doesn't work for you or you don't believe in prayers, As for me it does work well for me and i believe it does work for other people as well.

Now your story is confusing.
So what would your black American friend do for you? What have you been doing since 2009 There's no how anyone here would help you if you don't come out plain.

Okay... Let me try to explain to you.. In 2011 I got an admission to Dickinson state University and was denied 4 consecutive times and to be honest with you I was discouraged and since then I never go back to school cuz I lost everything in traveling..

During those period I did my SAT which cost me 50,000 then, I still have the result including the SEVIS fees I paid.

I know how to convince the Vo if they ask me what have I been doing since then.. But I can't get admission for the past one month now.. Have been trying to get it but it seems difficult.. If you can help me with the procedure.. I will be happy thanks

Lol...typical Nigerian, always stand aside to castigate and point out our problems but never do anything to salvage the situation.
Funny how you listed all those things above without mentioning that their young able bodied men like you didn't leave the country then for a greener pasture and at the same time hoping those left behind would be busy inventing electricity, oil, nuclear energy and automobiles.
Why didn't you leave America for Nigeria after your studies to contribute your own quota to the country? Were you born in America? What have you done to help Nigeria be a better country like the country you are in?
You once posted here that you've both American and British citizenship,so I'm asking you this, while those people were developing their country, were they looking for other nationals citenzenship here and there.
I see you as someone who has this holier than thou attitude, egocentric and ...
Don't come here to be the type of Nigerians that rant online while enjoying the comfort of America. If you're so pained and so bothered about Nigeria, there's nothing stopping you from booking the next available flight to Nigeria and let's build the nation together to be a better place for us all to dwell in, since our leaders have failed us,keep failing us and will always fail us .

Sir deemarc, You are so on point, i give you a big round of applause with a standing ovation. you nailed the issue and may God bless for those points.. Cheers!

i appreciate your comment but do not agree to every detail. I know most Nigerians depend so much on prayer...person wey no get CV and him dey look for work, all he does is go for night vigil, That job will never come. i have seen so many people prepare hard for interviews and the VO will ask them the simplest of questions....I was amazed to see someone's transcript with the question "What is the 2nd law of Motion". My brother, in this situation , na this guy prayer work . One should prepare well and pray to God that the question VO ask is what you know. All of us who got visa did not know everything. we were only lucky we were asked what we know...thats where prayer comes in......During my interview, i was asked just one major question and it was a question i was well prepared for.. cool

@Bolded, that's very true Broda..

Haha I don't want to arrest 1 silent follower now n my Oga at the top will be saying another thing but on a more serious note I feel it's normal for anyone to choose whichever way he/she wana follow the thread either silently or actively as long as the main goal is achieved.

I totally disagree with that.. if everybody choose to be silent even when they got their visa approved, how you learn a thing or 2 from their transcript, how will you be able to prepare your self and your own transcript and lastly, how will the up coming prospective student/new comers know how to answer VO's questions..? if you can sincerely answer these questions within your self, you will look for handcuff and start arresting those silent follower and those who don't like sharing their transcripts after benefiting from the thread cool

Run from so called agents. they will only rip you off. you pay the 400k and you will be get admitted to an unknown school. You can start the application process from beginning till your visa interview all by yourself. all you need is time and dedication. Its a procedure taken step by step.
read up previous pages and you will be guided

Hello people, I need advice.

I had my BSc (education) in chemistry education I'm 2011 and since then, I have been saving up to study my masters in the USA. I have managed to save 2 million naira. I approached an agent based on a Facebook advert and he said he can help me to get a cheap college with tuition fees of $4000 or less. And he wants the charge me 400k as his service charge.

A whole 400,000?, I got scared and I decided to talk to someone who told me to visit student visa section on nairaland and all my problems will be resolved and I won't need to pay a dime to any agent.

So please I need help/ advice.

The Viso Officers considered one set to be qualified for a visa and the others not to be qualified. When you talk of "preparation", its hard to understand what you mean. If you are a bonafide student, have strong ties to bring you back home and were truthful in your application, there is nothing to prepare for. You should be able to easily answer questions like - what schools did you apply to, why did you choose your school and major, what are your plans after school - without having to spend nights cramming.

everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. on the contrary if we really take a deep look at our countries and compare with many other countries who are not as religiously inclined as we are. we realise we are far from where we should be. can we call politicians or public office holders who say prayers before holding meetings where they usurp our funds religious?. the reality is that if u find yourself in this thread, its either u have aspirations to leave the country or u want someone u care about to leave. if am to get twoods right, maybe he was saying if we channeled some of the energies we put into prayers into actually doing something productive, then our country wud be better than it is. prayer is key because we are religious but hardwork is also as important as prayer.even the bible says the same in james 2vs 14

Gbam! You have said it all!

If we spent half the time we spend in church praying about "blessing" on doing the simple things like being honest, not giving bribes, caring about not littering our streets, ensuring that we do our work (wherever we are) as unto the very Lord we pray to... Nigeria will be Singapore in 10 years flat.

Lol....well, I just want you to know that no matter how American you want to be,you'll always be a Nigerian. The fact that you're on this forum speaks much and not with your fellow Americans who are willing to work hand in hand and take criticisms to do better.
And stop this your attitude of making assumptions and generalisations that all Nigerians are the same and that Nigeria is irredeemable.
Lastly, keep doing your best in building the US to the best of your abilities but always remember that you will always be a Nigerian. No matter what you keep telling yourself or what your passport is telling you.
Peace out to be a silent and observant follower of this great thread.
Big S/O to those helping people here night and day. You know yourselves. God bless.

Perhaps i over-generalized, but i would not be far from the truth in submitting that most Nigerians are the same and that Nigeria is irredeemable. If you believed that Nigeria was redeemable, why are you here? Lets not be hypocrites, pontificating about something we clearly do not believe in, simply because it gets us Nairaland "likes".

Well be honest, just tell them this - "i really have no plan at all. I'm just using this as an avenue to immigrate to the US".

Or you can try figuring it out yourself by answering 2 questions:

Why did i choose my major/degree?
Why did i choose this school?

If you're a bonafide student, you should not be asking this question at all. But i'm sure you'll be wasting your time "praying" all night for a visa when in fact you do not qualify for one.

Go up to the search button type in study plan vo ....then you can filter to travel. That will bring up other transcripts. That helps you as a guide then take a pen and write something similar based on your degree and plans

You need to convince VO what you have been doing since 2009, I think it's too late for Fall 2017 admission. Try and apply for Spring. Check Universities in Minnesota or New Hampshire. Just apply for spring and prepare well for your interview. Don't see age as a barrier.
