Just received my confirmation letter today in two original copies from my principal. PPSB, Tai. It is only my own that arrived.

May alert received. 7k deducted. SSSB ONELGA. O Jah plead my cause for my enemies are at it again. let their bread turn to stone in their mouths.

Pls those who registered for TRCN at Senior Sec Sch Board Portharcourt where u asked to show the original copies of ur credentials or did dey only requested for the photocopies of ur credentials? I asked because i plan to register on friday and wants to travel from there to Aba, hwever, going there with d original copies of my cert would force me to go back to my base (Isiokpo, KELGA) to drop d certs bfore proceeding to Aba which will amount to spending d little money i've unjudiciously on transportation. Pls ur response is urgently needed for guidance. Thanks.

please how much did u pay in all and also is PGDE same amount with B.ed cert.

Just came back from the schools board now to ask for my pay slip that I may know the reason for the deductions but was told that the material to access the slip is not available and that I should go to finance ministry if I desire to know the reasons. I was also told that the deduction affected every worker in the state. However, someone whispered to me that the deduction was part of our contribution to Rivers @50 anniversary. Imagine that!!!

vanguard reported that states have been paid the second batch of refund from the Paris debt deduction. Rivers state topped with 34billion of the total 500 and something billion shared. I hope our the top(WIKE),would keep to the promise he made with other governors to pay up salary arrears and pension with the refund....march and Feb salary loading am hopeful.

...the first batch was given last year and few weeks ago osinbanjo sign for the release of the second batch and from what vanguard reported it was released yesterday...the first batch was used to pay our arrears during DEC 2016.

please any info concerning our confirmation letter and I.d cards biko?...I heard a meeting was supposed to be held between the board administration and lga's zonal directors concerning the above matters...if you've got any useful information please do share...thanks

@nnekaobianuju,i paid at UBA bank close to TRCN office,ppsb board.infact one of d officers on duty told me to go n pay there since its close.i did it october last year.U ll need to find out if they r still accepting dt payment cos i heard it ended in may i.e last month ending.

Dear thirteen thousand newly employed teachers, it is high time we start thinking of advocating for our welfare as far as this job is concerned. Whether we like it or not, for now we are teachers and are paid based on Teachers Salary Scale (TSS) irrespective of our qualifications. As far as I am concerned, the Rivers State Wing of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) are not representing our collective interests.

(1) Our salaries are deducted without notifying us of what the deductions are for.
(2) National Housing Fund (NHF) contributions are deducted from our salaries monthly yet our employer has not given us NHF registration forms to fill and submit to the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria. How can our contributions be remitted by our employer to Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria when we don't even have accounts with them.
(3) Income tax is deducted from our salaries monthly yet our employer has not given us tax returns forms to fill and submit to Rivers State Internal Revenue Service. How do we know that our employer is remitting our tax returns?
(4) Contributory pension is deducted from our salaries monthly yet our employer has not paid their own half of the monthly Contributory pension.
(5) Since we were employed in 2013 till date, our step has not increased.

In spite of all the above listed shortcomings, Rivers​ State Wing of Nigeria Union of Teachers collects union dues monthly from our salaries. They are not concerned about our welfare and conditions of service. They are only concerned about sharing the rebate given to them when our monthly union dues are deducted from our salaries. This is a clarion call for the way forward. It is high time we have our representation in the next executives​ of NUT. We can only achieve this by actively mobilizing and participating in the next NUT elections at both State Wing and LGA levels. We have the majority population to vote in any of our colleagues who contests for any position. The way forward is to unite and have a common front. Thanks for taking time to read this clarion call. My dear the feeling is mutual. I will run for an executive position in NUT in my LGA, Abua/Odual. After attending one of the meetings in my LGA, it was obvious that we really need to take up the union structure if we must survive in this job...
