Much of the food consumed there is from Cameroun, I am a living witness, In fact Cameroun is what I will call Africa's Biggest farmland. I travelled from Nigeria to Gabon by road and saw all these things, go to Limbe, Bafousam, Mamfe and many other places in Cameroun from there to Bitam in Gabon, You will find huge farms every here and there, food is dirt cheap there, so the supply food to Nigeria, Gabon, Congo (Brazaville), Eqautorial Guinea, in fact Cameroun supplies food to all the CEMAC countries plus Niageria. You don't travel but sit in Kaduna to pull statistics from your @55.

Dont weep for them. They will take care of it as they have been doing since. Like I said before, your hide, ginger etc do they just go to the North, take their farms, harvest the available ginger without paying to the farmer who has grown that ginger and export his ginger abroad just as they do crude oil?. Are the farmers not the ones directly making cash from the sales of their products to exporters while the rest of Nigeria only shares from the duties, taxes etc paid?on the other hand, crude oil is not first purchased from the locals directly, exported and the revenue from exportation shared amongst Nigerian States. These are two different things.

In the event of a break up, every part of the Country CAN SURVIVE AND THRIVE, may be not equally (few things are equal in life). However, every segment will be negatively affected in the immediate period after the break up because we are deeply interdependent than what tribal bigots know or willing to acknowledge .

The north has a high level of poverty such that the want for food is high; but the purchasing power of the "wanters" is low, in this case the farmer sells to those who can buy then exports the rest to other regions.
In simple analogy: ALHAJI grows rice in kebbi, but there is a low demand for his stock in the north due to the high level of poverty. ALHAJI supplies rice to those who can purchase in the north & transport the rest to Lagos where the demand for rice is so high that increasing the price would fetch him more profit.

And this translates to North feeding the south or the Alhaji shipping his surplus produce to the southern market for sale. How does he add value since same or better can be imported from Asia.

Its just that, for years, the Governments (including your State's government) have neglected other economic activities which can be developed to generate greater income than oil.
