Okay, Thank you Big Sister
LagosismyHome:

In Nigeria a notarized document would have to be signed and taken to a court.... so yes but if i were u, i would call the school and speak to someone or email to clarify that it should be notarized by the court ? So u are absolutely sure before u spend like 500k to 1k to get it done. Should not cost more than that
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by OluDare01(m): 12:27am On Jun 15, 2017
Now I understand you. Yes you can take it to a court. Banks can also notarize your affidavit of support; this is applicable if there's a provision for the official stamp from your bank on the affidavit
anodebeanthony:
They have it, like I said they sent the form to me. In the affidavit, there is a place they wrote "The University requires that this document be notarized (Affidavit form). Faxes of this document will be accepted." That's where am confused. And again after my sponsor fil and sign the form will I take it court or what? I need more clarification on how to go about form.

Thank You.will schools like UTK, Texas A and M or Montana state give me PhD admission without research experience.

UT Knoxville is a great school just like Oludare rightly said. The engineering school is also associated with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). ORNL prides herself as the largest science and energy national laboratory in the Department of Energy system by surface and by annual budget. One of their most funded research areas is Energy Science and Nuclear Engineering. Depending on what your research interests are; you may want to go for an energy science concentration for the PhD in Electrical Engineering.

I am in my 3rd year of PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering at UTK myself. I am researching energy systems and climate. ORNL is so big on this and would suggest you look into energy science too - that's the future. Alternatively, research on data analytics or big data and see yourself working in one of the biggest financial institutions or IT companies upon graduation. You can thank me later.

wooow! I never knew you school at UTK. Great school especially their collaboration with ORNL. I am not interested in nuclear and radio chemistry, would have applied for a PhD there. Some profs in my department here at tech use those super computers at ORNL for computational chemistry and they speak highly of the kind of research going on there.

I school there but work in California. My classes are flexible. The research is the biggie. You're right about the supercomputers at ORNL. That lab is full of some smart guys. I'm actually working with one on a review paper on energy systems, we should be publishing soon.

I think UTK nuclear engineering program is one of the best in the world. The UT Space Institute at Tullahoma is another big one - big on space research and aeronautics. If in doubt, ask the U.S Airforce.

How do you pay WU quickpay? You Can pay over the bank counter in the USA just like you go to Nigerian banks here and you see WU section. Stop acting ignorant and cynical

E say WU section at bank counter?
I doubt if I've seen WU points at banks here. If I'm wrong, I'm open to corrections.
Stop being defensive lol. We know you're trying to sell your market. Goodluck.

morning guys, your help is needed, i got a mail from the school my brother is applying for that TOEFL is waived for English speaking countries which is the case in Nigeria, meaning my brother wont be requested to submit TOEFL result, but i'm thinking of the interview here in Nigeria, hope he is not gonna have problem at the embassy cos he didnt write TOEFL, what is the advice on this?

i think that should be part of your first assignment, search for schools through google, and check the courses they offer, most most in the US accept TOEFL, every school have their own recommended results evaluation agency, after getting the school of your choice, you would know the agency to use......do i answer your question?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by OluDare01(m): 7:32am On Jun 15, 2017
About TOEFL

I will encourage every applicant to write toefl because most schools use it as a basis for awarding teaching assistantship. In my own case, I didn't write Toefl because I turned in my applications late and money factor too. Things didn't pan out the way I wanted. I got admitted and though the grad school waived toefl for me, my department said I was not proficient. I got half TA and I had to pay the balance of my tuition. I would have saved myself the stress of paying if I had written toefl.
When you come here, you will see that you speak better English than other non-native English speakers that Oyinbos would ask you 'do you speak English in Nigeria?'.

good morning good people of nairaland, may God be there at our point of need, i have a pending issue with iowa university, i was applying to the school when the counselor incharge of MBA forward an email to me that i need to deposit 1150 dollars to retain a sit if my admission is confirmed, i want to know is the deposit part of the tuition fees or god forbids if the embassy denies visa will the school refund the deposit, cos i was told in the email "non refundable".... i need advice as a matter of urgency. lastly, i want this forum to suggest like 3 schools for that does not accept deposits until i get to the US. thank u so much.

This kind of question in bold is best answered directly by the school......none of here belong to the school/ department governing body so we don't set the rules....go back and ask from the school for the bolds..... if they say non refundable then that a decision you have to take , if you are ready to take that risk

also i had a look at University of Iowa MBA and it states $750 so why is your counsellor saying $1150

Pls my gud ppl does it matter if someone n his child bears different surname? Asin the child having his grand father's name as prefix and a hyphen before his father's surname. For example if the father's surname is Obi, and the grand father's name is tunde. Now the child's surname is tunde-obi. Does it matter?

For u 7 fine for some others it is 1 school , others 20 is the magic number. Their life their choice so its best to respect a variety of views ...... everyone with what works best for them because What worked for X might not work for Y .....

Which then makes it a baseless back and fort argument
from inertia I made it clear that it was all about my personal view I don't care if one applies to any amount of school as that does not affect me in any way . i only shared my reason why when others began to think that I was forcing people to only apply few schools if they had read that and respected it without trying to shove thier opinions down my throat as if I needed to be convinced, I wouldn't have raised point that looked like I was dissaproving peoples preference and making them misinterpret that they wer unqualified.
I rest my case

And

What is SOP

Pls enligh me!!!!!!!

Sorry for been delayed

Firstly we had adviced you not to go to the embassy with this school California Miramar university..... if you must go with a weak school especially for MBA then have at least an ok profile to help ....but the overall profile of yours is not strong.... weak school for MBA , no other admission, no test scores, not working officially ...

My advice will be to take these 4 points and work on it before you go back for any interview
