so many Christians are against and condemn the consumption of alcohol... most Christians don't know that Jesus actually drank alcohol and was even referred to as a "drunkard". He said so Himself in the passages Matthew 11:18-19 and Luke 7:33-34

Matthew 11:18-19.... 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

Luke 7:33-34... 33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’

But this is interesting. Cos apparently it subtly insinuates that Jesus was occasionally seen drinking.

I have seen those afore-quoted scriptures. U still have not answered my question. Was Jesus mocked for drinking strong wine or because he was seen eating and drinking? Was what he drank alcohol?

He was drinking soft drink... apart from strong wine(alcohol) what else makes one drunk?

let not change our perception about his "human" actions to His purpose for mankind.

he became a son of man for us to be sons of God. all He did was to show dat God came down in human like us, ate, drank, just like us until he attained perfection of immortality as He died and resurrected, showing us dat we can also be like himself.

God put all our iniquities in Him and nailed Him on d cross dat we might b saved.

nw lemme ask u OP. did d bible still call Jesus a drunkard or acted like any form of human after His Ascension

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

dats pwrfection.

I don't think he was a drunk but from the passage it's obvious that he drank alcohol.

Brother,
The "wine" referred to is unfermented grape juice.
The Bible is not nor can ever be contradictory.
The Lord wouldn't say to "not" drink strong drink and then go ahead and "drink" it Himself...
He would then be a hippocrate....which He is NOT..nor never was.
Even when Jesus was dying on the cross, He refused to take the sour fermented wine in the sponge that the soldiers tried to give Him in order to quench His thirst (Matthew 27:34).
If Samson wasn't to take strong drink as a created being, then how much more important was it that The Creator (out example) "not" take wine nor strong drink!!!

I believe that people should sincerely pray ti the Holy Spirit for clear understanding of this topic.

We understand dear, nothing about Jesus could possibly be imperfect. How dare OP? Lol
But they didn't say he drank wine, they called him a drunk.
And the Bible doesn't condemn strong drink neither it only advises against it. The greatest Godly Kings in the Bible, David and Solomon were occasional drinkers too.

Wine by definition is an alcoholic drink. There is nothing like unfermented grape juice. Unfermented grape juice is not wine but unfermented grape juice. According to the passage Jesus said he drinks(wine) and makes friends with tax collectors, and because he does that people called him a drunkard and a friend of sinners. What was he drinking that the people called him a drunkard, if he wasnt drinking an alcoholic drink? You don't always have to bend the truth to fill your preconceived notions.
Even Davideo that is alleged to have written the book of proves that you alluded to was a drunk m he drinks till he gets drunk according to the bible.
Re: Was JESUS A Drunkard??? by IKC10(m): 3:12am On Jun 21, 2017
THERE is no way anyone can understand the scriptures by mere human educational standards without the Holy Spirit. If we pick up a topic and study and say anything on it, we might be making a dangerous mistake. Well, I suggest that the writer of this article studies the Bible for the sake of understanding it and not just to criticize. Thanks.

Brother,
You are free to believe how you wish...however truth will always prevail.
I don't "always bend the truth to fill my preconceived notions". I try my hardest to be truthful about whatever...
There is a high standard that Christ holds His followers to....believe it or not...& that is what I'm aiming towards.
There has to be some differentiation occurring between one side & the other....
It's about Holy living....which can only be accomplished through Christ' Righteousness.
If I wanted to drink alcohol....then being the person I am, I would say, "I want to drink alcohol...whether it's okay or not because it's what I want to do." Or I would be honest and say, "I know it's wrong....but it's what "I" want to do.."
If it's not an obsession or idol, why not give it up?
Sometimes standards aren't about a list of "do'd & don'ts", but moreso of loving caution to help one avoid potential devastating situations.

Think on that for a minute...
However, when folks wanna "do" or "not" do something, they'll always find a way to justify it.
Who's Davideo....? What is "proves"?
King Solomon wrote the book of Proverbs....
By the way, aren't you a "free-thinker"?
So how does this question affect you since you don't have a moral compass, no accountability & can do whatever?? Just sayin'...

i still don't see where it says not to drink strong drink... i guess the wine here is also non-fermented grape juice...

Deuteronomy 14:22-26... 22"Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

23 And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.

24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:

25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose:

26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household

First of all, who is a drunkard?

Did the Bible say Jesus was a drunkard or people decided to call him so?

Did the Bible say Jesus never drank?

Did the Bible say you should never drink?

This is what the Bible is talking about, our actions prove the extent of our wisdom.

You're the type Jesus was talking about and you forgot to quote the previous verses:

Luke 7:29‭-‬32 KJV

And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

OP, dont behave like the pharisees and saduccees. They were like saying they played the flute for John to dance but he mourned rather and when they played the opposite for Jesus, they realized he was already dancing. How else will one satisfy you people? Which one exactly do you want?

Once you've decided to go blind about a certain thing, any other thing connected to that thing will make you not to open your eyes.

You can drink if that's your issue and you can decide to get drunk if you please and eventually become a drunkard but the Bible caution one on that for one's sake.

What they called John 'having a demon' wasn't true. So do you believe Jesus was a drunkard?

If you quote Scriptures to soothe you or to encourage what will destroy you, then please yourself but remember a verse came before that, calling out people like you.

But those who are wise know the path to follow by the actions performed though through different methods.

Choose your path and let the others choose theirs.

And to your question, Jesus never got drunk, so He wasn't a drunkard. But you can encourage yourself with wine I guess.. .... Because you want to drink to stupor you're now thinking Jesus was a drunkard so you can drink righteously grin...... Happy drinking... Cheers undecided

Brother, please the truth (and not just the fact) remains that I wasn't talking about "the holy spirit," but "The Holy Spirit ." He is the author of the Bible, and he is the one who solely teaches it. Of course, we can't truly serve God without Him. Thanks.

You're sha finding verses to justify your drinking. But I don't think you are an expert drinker yet, if you're you would have quoted better verses.

The most important thing is to know God. If you do, no one will tell you to stop drinking.

John the Baptist was a regular faster, he fasts so much, but the disciples of Jesus does not fast that much, that was the vain of thought, FASTING, its just water it was talking about.

Matthew 9:14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

Mark 2:18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

Luke 5:33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?
