What do you need a Dorm account for? You don't need one. Just come and open a BOA account when you arrive with no charges if you will be getting monthly direct deposit from RA/TA/AA.
I taught it could be used to send money to one Nigerian Account?

You can only send dollar to a Dorm account not Naira and it comes with charges. You cant send money from a dollar account to a Naira account.

TWoods, you need evidence of mock interview, check my transcript. It was exactly how lagosismyhome and DeeTus prepared my transcript that I was asked.

Bro , don't give up yet , you just need to refire and have faith in God.

Let me try to add some things

Why are you going to the US?
I'm going to Us for my masters in educational technology at Missouri state uni

Why did you choose USA?
I choose the US because academic qualifications from a US uni is highly valued here in Nigeria and on top of that global exposure will help boost my career , so that when I come back to Nigeria after my studies it will give me an edge over my colleague with a Nigeria degree in the education sector.

Why Missouri ?
I choose Missouri state uni because their offer masters in educational technology with option in (bla bla) which fits perfectly into my past experiences and future career goals . [You can then expantiate more on that option if the VO don't stop you ].. or you can add that you are also interested in the research been done by Dr. bla bla of the department.

You just need to have faith and prepare more so that on your next interview you will fire on more and get the white paper.. Insha Allah we are both going to be in the US this August .

Other gurus can add more
Hello bross.please your brotherly advice is highly needed..I got admission from a school to study computer software engineering for my MSC..but I am a little bit worried cause I didn't do any test,it was waived for me,and I graduated last year too...so please base on this info I just gave you.how do you think I can deal with the VO..I will be having my interview soon

At the same time, don't go and put yourself in huge debts to go to a top school..especially if you're not able to get funding or fund yourself

I appreciate and understand your point.
Thanks.

@TWoods, please is Lincoln University, PA a reputable HBCU to attend for undergraduate studies?

This is a school i know a couple of alumni...... Lincoln and howard are good HBCU in terms that they have good full ride scholarship so if you can get full ride why not

Also depending on your course, both are good in terms of recuritment because companys go there to fill their diversity quota . Hence u see a good no of their students interning or graduating with good jobs. Both schools i know a couple of Nigerians who finished there for undergrad and did very well post graduation.

I've never met anyone from Howard or Lincoln at my company... its sad that these schools are simply good to fill "diversity quotas". But the really big companies are getting smarter... they know they can easily fill their "quota" from the MITs, Yale, Harvard, UT and other top schools. No offense but my preference is to not attend an HBCU if you can help it. There are better programs out there if you can work for it. Top schools do take diversity into consideration when they offer admissions. A black kid from MIT won't have to worry about finding a solid >$150,000/year job ever.

Yeah, read about it after posting this. USA isn't involved.
Pls do u know the maximum amount of cash that can be carried on board the plane without any declaration?

If your cash is more than $10,000 that is &10,001 you will have to declare it before boarding and there is no crime in declaring your cash as long as it's meant for a genuine purpose

Twoods is just so funny. That graduates from Howard or Lincoln are not in your company doesn't mean they are not in other bigger companies. I didn't even go to the MITs or Yale or Harvard for grad school. As a matter of fact, I graduated from a state university in Nigeria; yet I got my dream job. When I was job hunting, I interviewed with Chevron, Exxon-Mobil, Occidental, Anadarko, Apache,Halliburton etc. Many of my friends who decided to work for these companies didn't even attend Yale or Harvard. It is more of applying to the right jobs, timing, and location of your school. MIT and co. are renowned and many organizations go there to recruit - Amen. But that doesn't mean folks from other schools can't or won't get in.

A black kid fresh out of college with a solid >150k job a year? Well, I know entry-level geologists and petroleum engineers don't make that much anywhere in the world.

You're right. I know many that graduated from grade B schools and still got jobs with big companies.

Good morning people.
In flight booking, which of the bank cards are usually accepted? Is it even possible to use a Nigerian card? I'd rather do it myself than give an agent.

Well your company is just one company...... do u know how many other companies are out there in america ...so seriously the bold got me grin

I hate to put personal info out there but xxxx....

It your preference not to attend that fine and you are allowed to have any preference right or wrong ...., doesnt mean those who have attend havent gone on to get great placememt and yes they have. I know several so not hearsay but actual people

As for 150k job for entry level , stories that touch..... even your company does not offer that to entry level. Neither does MIT claim that its entry level graduate get that

Yes it is a must. No school in US would give you a PhD scholarship without GRE unless you are their alumni, which I guess you are not.

Twoods needs to go out more often .... i mean seriously

I worked in big global companies mainly because of my line of IT implementation....... It requires me engaging with several stakeholders across the organisation and one of my hobby grin is as i deal with high or low stakeholder i read their linkedin. ..... how many self have been to MIT., Yale or such. Some but actually very few and i have read several linkedins...... Most of the profiles are cut across all schools and these are people from all levels of the organisation

I agree aim for Top schools, it makes job prospect easier especially if you need H1B... however as you said many who didnt go to top schools are even doing better or same with those who did

There was a time HU was popular with Nigerians who are intelligent because they have full ride scholarship .......This is not hearsay i know several of Howard University students in the last 15 years so many have great placements right from second year internship .

My Transcript - Approval was today.

Thank you all for your congratulatory messages. The winning started with arrriving early at the venue, interviewers were not settled yet, their blue paper issuance software never boot finish.

The smart lady in front of me (I think she was Abimmbolar) answered her questions neatly and got approved - nice way for the VO to 'start his hand'. I tot mine would be a breeze and it was - I went in after her.

I was glad I didn't have to pay the 64k again and then travel all the way to Lagos.... I remembered the song 'You Made a Way' by Travis Greene as I walked out....

A very big thanks to all those that comment here frequently, you keep the thread alive. You know yourselves, God will reward you richly!

A huge thanks to all those that posted and will post their transcripts, you do not know how much you have sowed into our lives. Without you all, I wouldn't have been able to compile transcripts for part 10 and easily get my approval today - please keep this going on.

Special thanks to meritdee (compiled Part 7) and ecoleco (compiled part 11). We need more people like you. Thank you all.... Oluwa by Eze.

Hello house, I plan to book my interview today. Please at what point would I be required to pay the visa fee and what payment option is advised?

I would also appreciate any useful tips in filling my online visa application. I'm applying for masters.

Another thing is, I finished national youth service late 2015 and since then till now, I haven't been "officially" employed. Been job hunting and pursuing some entrepreneurial interests. I fear these VOs may not understand why and it may pose a problem? Thoughts on how best to navigate this, please?

LOL, SORRY ABOUT THAT , WELL ..LET ME START BY SAYING I APPLIED TO WEST TEXAS A &M UNIVERSITY FOR SPRING AND I WAS JUST TOLD TO SUBMIT MY Foreign Credential Evaluation Report AND I WAS SHOCKED BECAUSE I DIDN'T SEE THAT WHEN APPLYING !! SO MY QUESTION WAS CAN MY SCHOOL HERE IN NIGERIA WRITE A LETTER TO WEST TEXAS A &M UNIVERSITY TO WAIVE THE WES EVALUATION ? IN FORM OF AN OFFICIAL LETTER BECAUSE MY RESULT IS WAY ABOVE 3.0 GPA OF US STANDARD !!1 THE TRUTH IS I DONT WANT TO WASTE MONEY ON WES EVALUATION THE MONEY IS TOO MUCH JARE !!!
There's no other way around it, you have to evaluate ur transcript as its part of their requirements. You should have read all the requirements before applying, I made the same mistake to another school and it was an outright rejection. I'll advice you to either evaluate your transcript or look for another school that does not require evaluation.
