Are we supposed to forget that your folks first called Lagos a "no mans" land which led to Oba Akinolu making such statement?

Personally, I don't see what's wrong in Ariyo's statement. His statement was about how the Ibos are always causing troubles everywhere like they did in South Africa and were dealt with but if Lagos deal with them and ask them to pack, they would start to cry... Cut to your Journalist screaming blue murder. The same journalist who failed to criticise your folks calling Ariyo's ancestral land a no man's land before he made such statement!

Moreover, Ariyo never asked for any ibo to be killed! Even the Oba who made the "Lagoon statement" only said that anyone who's against the cultures and the progress of the land will find himself in the lagoon. His only fault was that he was facing the ibo groups in front of him as he spoke.

But let me ask you, did Yoruba take these people as their gods and worship them after they made such statements compared to what the Ibos did with Kanu? Abegi!

Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I, the Oba of Lagos, have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years....

In his response, the Eze-Ndigbo of Amuwo-Oriade, Dr. Gordian Dimojiaku, promised Akiolu that the Igbos in the state would support Ambode.

“The mistake of last Saturday was caused by everybody, not only the Igbos. It is not only the Igbos that were responsible for the votes. But we have learnt our lesson. Saturday’s election is going to be a different thing and Ambode is going to win.

“Everybody knows that when you fail the first time, you cannot afford to fail again. We are going to tell our people that Ezes from the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas are here and that we have sworn with the Oba that we are going to make sure that Ambode wins next Saturday’s election,” he said.

Oba Akiolu’s statement was jocularly made to his Igbo friends - Oba Akiolu’s ‘Death Threat’ Against Igbos Was An Honest Joke – Atueyi’ ON APRIL 10, 2015 | 3:44 AM

A Lagos-based lawyer Chukwudi Atueyi, who was present at the meeting between the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu and some Igbos where he made the infamous ‘death threat’, yesterday, gave an account of what transpired at the meeting.

According to Atueyi, the uproar was uncalled for as the Oba’s statement was not directed at the whole Igbos in Lagos but he spoke jokingly to his Igbo friends that visited him.

“All the Eze Ndi Igbo honorary in Lagos went to pay HRM solidarity visit on Sunday and I was fortunate to be among those present at the said meeting. What the Oba said was fully and simply directed to only the Igbos present at the meeting who his majesty considers to be very close to him and should understand him well enough.

“You know when one talks to his very close friends and subjects, he tends to be very free with them, so he was being very free with those present at the meeting and wanted us to realize how serious and close he takes us and our votes, because he cannot imagine us giving him our words only to turn back and do the very opposite.

“He did not force us to the meeting, we were the ones that went to him on solidarity visit, so it would be very evil of us to only go and deceive him there. He only jokingly (at least as it appeared to me then) warned the people present at the meeting who he considers his own people. The said warning that we are supposed to be very conversant with since we have all the “Ëze Ndi Igbo” present there, as that was not the first time we visited him. We are all already aware of the Yoruba culture and understood perfectly what he meant. There was no specific place he referred to all the Igbos in Lagos.

“He was only addressing the Igbos with him present there whom he considers his own people and he simply observed his culture which we all quite understood and this explains why there was applause and laughter at the end of his speech. We were expected to, thereafter, talk to our people in civilized manner to convince them and canvass for their votes if we truly believe we are capable of doing so.

“The tradition of lagoon water threat was directed only to those present at the meeting as culture demands. Though he appeared serious but we all understood it as a joke, that was why we all applauded him and made fun of it there.

Lagos was built with the nation's collective wealth. it's the nation's commercial capital, a melting point pot of all Nigeria with opportunities than doesn't discriminate if you're an indigene or not.
U can't succeed in Lagos jhux because you're an indigene Dangote and host of other celebrities succeed thru sheer hard work and that brought about the phrase of no mans land. it's yo lot who like reading meaning into everything.

Look here, there's nothing patchy about who made the first coup or how every regional leaders were killed except for the Ibos! There's nothing patchy about how Ironsi failed to bring these ragtags that plotted the coup to justice, rather the ibos were seen mocking the Northerners in the core North and that led to the counter coup by the North! There's nothing patchy about Ironis destroying our true federalism. There's nothing patchy about how Zik disagreed with Awolowo on secession clause in our government..and so-on..

Moreover, I don't care if they increase in numbers to bash my tribe. All I don't want is someone calling me out for bashing his folks even when he could see that his folks started the squabbles.

Guy, you forgot to add that their own people were present on that day, and they even clapped for the Oba of Lagos after he made those comments?

When the Oba of Lagos was threatening to throw Igbo that did not vote into the lagoon, some Eze Ndi'Igbo in Lagos and other members of their ethnic group were in attendance.

What did they do when they heard that threat?? They clapped in merriment, laughed excitedly like schoolkids, and promised to comply with his demands, instead of taking him to task over his remarks. In many communities, such brethren who failed to defend their interests before the Oba of Lagos when he made those comments would have been held accountable, or dealt with.

Secondly, how many folks were in full support? I know people like Jimi Agbaje, Bode George & co., were not in support of those comments.

Unfortunately, these guys keep repeating this one-sided story like a mantra, and it is beginning to turn into propaganda.


Hope you can see the reaction of these Ezes that were in attendance when the Oba made his threat. None of them objected to his remarks or even expressed any displeasure at what he said, o!

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has said he does not hate the North as widely believed.

In an interview with The Sun, Kanu said he loves former Presidents Shehu Shagari and late Umaru Yar’Adua than Nnamdi Azikwe.

He described both northern leaders as unique, stating that Shagari built the Port Hacourt expressway while he was growing up.

“People think I hate the North; that’s not true, but the only thing is that I say things the way they are, I don’t know how to tell lies to curry favours. People do not know that I love (former presidents Shagari and Yar’Adua more than I love (former president, Nnamdi Azikiwe) Zik. I’m saying this because when we were young and were growing up, the only notable person that built any notable infrastructure I saw with my two eyes was Shagari. The Enugu/Igwuocha (that the white man named Port Harcourt) Expressway, was built by the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) government of Shagari and then you can travel with joy because it was smooth and very clean.

“Now, tell me who has ever done that since after Shagari, no, tell me. Which other infrastructure will you be proud of, nobody has ever done anything again.”

He also described late Yar’adua as a gentleman who handled the agitation well.

He said Yar’adua was “a good and perfect gentleman. That was why you had the agitations cooled during the time of Yar’Adua. The man was a gentle man; he knew how to deal with people. I never met both men one on one, but these are good people. I’m not saying we don’t have other good people in the North, no, we have many of them, even in the judiciary, who are nice.

“But the few terrible, horrible ones won’t allow them to emerge, that’s the problem.”
