Why do we have to blame all our problems on the missing president and our present government. All our troubles were birthed by previous discrepancies that have taken deep roots into the system which isn't going to take 2 years to correct.

Don't mind them
We have an acting president
Even if we have 3 presidents concurrently working 24 hours
Nigeria will not catch up with its 1960s peers in 10 years
Or are those ones standing still?

China is still a developing country (per capita) after decades of double digit growth

The guy is not a dunce bros. The curse of oil has a name and it's called the "Dutch disease. Norway was already an industrialised country before oil was discovered in the North sea, ditto Britain. The US was also firmly on its way to industrialisation before oil. The common thing with these countries was that their prosperity would have happened with or without oil. The case is diffrerent for those countries who prospered because of oil. Saudi Arabia's youth unemployment rate is close to 30%, Venezuela which has the world's largest oil reserves if you include its heavy oil is currently a basket case where chronic food shortages are rife. And please don't mention Quatar, UAE, Kuwait or Bahrain whose collective population is not up to that of Alimosho Local Govt. Libya is at war so also is Iraq. Oil makes a country's citizens lazy and unnecessarily combative. That's why it is usually called a curse.

I would have agreed with ur point however, the population of the countries where oil has worked is in no way the reason why their oil revenue was put to good use. It is simply a result of visionary leadership, people who planned and know what they want for themselves. Oil is not a curse, rather our leadership problem is the curse we suffer from.
Libya before the fall of Gadafi was one of the best countries in Africa that had everything going for her citizens except for the despotic leadership they had, that didnt mean the country was not progressive economically, America exploited the highhandedness of Gadafi and incited Libyan against him, today Libya is worse off than they ever dreamt of under him.
Dubai was a desert prior to the discovery of oil there, but today, Dubai has become an oasis in the middle of a desert.
Black Africans have an inherent problem, and that problem is GREED! Thats the Curse not Oil.

Its obvious nigeria is no longer functional alongside is long time demostration of craze called a system...restructuring at dis time n season is d only acommodative duece.... Total disintegration is a gud bargain 2...if only those imbecilic greedy lots of criminal n farce elitism marauding aimlessly around d corridors of power, a very corridor that is aggresively moving to swallow dem up wld realize dat.. They wld move to restructure this country fast, cause they wld have nowhere to escape wen the storm wld come for them, cause at that time, nigerians wld head aggressively towards those they wld accountable n responsible for the mess...then even Obasanjo, ibb, n their cohorts wkd realize their days of reckoning has finally arrived.... Dnt get an already aggresive pple provoked,..d pple might not be able to tolerate all dis 4 too long starting from this era...

Oil is a curse to Nigeria , hence , the downfall of every other sector.

I hope you have watched the footage of the heavily leaking roof at newly renovated Abuja airport .

These days we don't have business planes , we have private jets owned by the pas...rs

Barely one week ago, I told a friend the exact words" oil a curse " for Nigeria and he goes blabbing without deep thinking.

If I were the president of this country, my first assignment would be to put an indefinite embargo on everything that has to do with oil exploration so that we can look inward and harness our human capital

NORWAY has more that 1 trillion dollars of sovereign wealth fund most from oil that it does not even touch talk less of spending, because they have learnt to build their economy without oil proceeds... Year in year out, the most "livable" countries in the world have always come from the SCANDINAVIAN NATIONS AND NOT FROM THE OIL RICH ARAB NATIONS..
and we don't even have upto a billion of our own savings

Every single budget is "premised" on oil meaning without it we can't think

Best solution is to divide this country let everybody go, I don't know why some ethnic groups are afraid of disintegration

No African airline is among top 20 or 40
After every state or LG becomes a country, the African in you (unless you deal with it) will still make the new states problematic

Indeed there was a country called the giant of Africa. This is certainly unbelievable. The first time I saw this picture I thought I was dreaming but lo and behold it was real. Did I say this Picture about Nigeria Airways will make you cry?

Yes! It will surely make you cry. Can you imagine, 44 years ago, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates all indicated interest to learn how Nigeria turned the Nigeria Airways into an intercontinental national carrier with 1,500 destinations across the world, generating N150 Billion naira profit yearly and providing jobs directly for 10,000 Nigerians. Now let me ask you. Are we moving forward or backward?

On the 20th of June 2017, Skytrax announced the world’s top 100 airlines in 2017 at the world airline awards held at Paris Air Show. Ethiopia airline was ranked 48 (First in Africa), South Africa Airways 49 (second in Africa) and Kenya Airways was ranked 91. And recall that the 3 African airlines that wanted to learn from Nigeria 44 years ago are now among the top 100 airlines in 2017.

Top 100 Airlines in 2017

Now let me ask you again. Where is Nigeria Airways? With all the riches and abundance of natural resources, Nigeria cannot boast of one national airline despite the fact that there are about 10 aircraft in its presidential fleet.

Lie! 150 billion in which year? When Nigeria's budget in 1986 was in the region of 25 billion naira...why donu just copy and paste?

My view too but you may just have to export to pay for essential drugs only
Another thing, you can export and put everything apart from drug imports in 50year-tenor SWF
Otherwise oil may have reduced value after some years

But the point is
No going to foreign schools, let the lecturers take jobs here
Ban foreign phones after 2 years - easy to do, no non-Nigerian phone can work on MTN, Glo etc network
No food import - let us starve to death - when leaders are eating local rice from native bowls, people will reason
Publicly recognise local produces, give them awards etc

And stop paying estacodes for meaningless events

Saw that too, it is impossible
But that is not the point
When Obasanjo left office in 1979, Nigeria had at least 10 (or 20?) ships, NIgeria Airways was doing well

Qatar Airways (no 1 on that list) started operations in 1994 - 5 years before the current politicians assumed office

That your N150 Billion and 1500 destinations? Ummm ! 44 years ago? Where did you get those numbers from. N150 Billion then was more than $150 Billion. What's the GDP of Nigeria in 1973, which is 44 years ago. It wa's surely much less than $50 Billion. Please, remove those numbers.

It's a real shame.

If I were Buhari, I would go and get the old timers and charge them with doing it all over again.

Give them modern training, a new fleet, etc. Of course, this will take years but Nigerians always like quick shortcuts.

Afonjaaaaaaaaa.

Most annoying thing is that Afonjas don't want their New Allah-ordained country with Muslim northern Nigeria - their New Nigeria without Biafra. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Afonja believes that crude oil is the only thing that makes a country survive. Why didn't crude oil make Nigeria Airways survive?

Ha ha ha. Do they understand yet that crude oil is a curse on Nigeria?

These days, Afonjaaaaaaaaas on top have taken to shameless sponsoring of some notable non-Igbos in the oil-producing SS to come to the media to pronounce: [my part of SS is not in Biafra]. Lol.

Tell Afonja that referendum is used in other countries to determine what the population want, Aifonja shall be talking about war, and hate speeches, as if he is sure Oyibo shall sponsor fight like in 1966 to 1970 to force Biafra back to Nigeria.
Please in this age of blatant lies and fake news on the internet let's not be too quick to believe what we see on the internet. Always do some research before you post an article so you don't lead others astray.
No airline in the world currently flies to more than 300 destinations not to talk of 1500. Even United Airlines with over 1300 aircrafts in its fleet does not fly to up to 300 locations. Bare in mind that Nigerian Airways never had up to 40 aircrafts in its fleet.
Secondly as at 1973 two US Dollars were equal to one naira. No company in history has ever made up to $100bn profit. The article is a fallacy, please don't believe it.do u have any prov?.

what am trying to say is that we all contributed in destroying this country, through our corrupt ways, everyone of us, from the elected officials, to the career officers, civil servants, law enforcement, judiciary, private sector, contractors, artisans and so on through our corrupt, selfish and greedy lifestyles, corruption has become a culture in all levels, we have accepted and now we are enjoying the dividend

You are not asking deep enough questions.

Ask who poisoned your leader who has him in their hospital?

Why are any of your leaders who are even halfway competent dying in office within a very short time?

Larryfest:
Op you don't need to ask where Nigeria airways is rather ask where Nigeria President is or is not when a country has a functioning leader that things go well.......Up until now we still don't know where the President is so how can we know where our national carrier is, our leaders wasted everything good in this country.

I'm just confused. Nigeria was doing very well before the oil stuff. We were ahead in Agriculture, today we are struggling. Despite the numerous Tourist attractions we have in this country We are not even among top 10 tourist destinations in Africa. Sometimes I wonder if we even have foreign students in any of our university.

Nigerians now travel to Ghana, Benin republic, etc to study
