Well, I guess igbos have rebellion in their blood. From Nigeria /Biafra to Assemblies of God, to Qua Iboe church and now Catholic Church amongst others. I believe it is because of pecuniary interests. Rebellion can never be from God but Lucifer who is it's father. |

Catholic has rules and laws guiding them, how can mbaise be insisting of an indigenous priest becoming a bishop in his place of birth what are they insinuating? there is nothing like we have different language or dialect. is high time they accept the bishop sent to them and stop insulting the catholic faith. |

I wonder why all these ignoramus who couldn't read were quick to comment. You can't win against the chief priest of Amadioha. The congregants of Mbaise most of whom are both Catholics and Traditionalists should know that! Some Christians and hypocrisy are like 5 and 6 |

Mynd44:Politics has always been the problem of the Catholic Church. Besides, the core motive behind the Rejection is well embedded in the post. When asked if Okpalaeke was not qualified to be consecrated as Bishop of Ahiara Catholic Diocese, Ekechukwu answered affirmatively, adding that he speaks a different Igbo dialect that would be incomprehensible to the rural dwellers in Mbaise. You can imagine this. Tribalism crept into religion and these ones would pray to God and expect answered prayers. ![]() |

Some groups are impossible wherever you find them, be it in church, place of work or even the highway. The same group that hijacked the Imo Health sector to itself by positioning another as one is leaving. They just want everything to themselves be it by hook or crook. It is amazing that no one is talking despite the very early warning by a musician KABAKA years back. If you have such people in your state of origin, God save you the day one of them gets to governorship. Your state will be as good sold! Well God will fight his case when all including the Holy Father give up. |

Is it no longer a priestly calling, is there something else they are fighting for or hiding. If God has called one it doesn't matter the multitude who are qualified. This is a shame and a disgrace to those priest and the laity. It ain't politics or a manly thing but by this action they've opened my eyes to see that religion na politics. |

sinaj:i'm not surprised. this is a microscopic view of an average IBO man be it enlightened or not. where do you guys think they coined the word MARGINALIZATION from. they will never accept that Okpaleke same way they reject Buhari. i Know some diocese in Ebonyi State that chased away a rev. father. the problem is embedded in the IBO DNA. this might look like a tribalist post. but i'm just being objective if you can see it from my perception. |

This is why Mbaise people are dreaded by the rest of Igbo Land. Because they always act like they are smarter than the others.. This stereotypical statement was made by a friend of mine at the height of this conflict. This is the first time in the history of the Catholic Church that people are rejecting bishop because he isn't indigenous. And it's quite appalling. This write up gave an ample example of non indigenes heading dioceses across Nigeria. If Ahiara diocese is allowed to have it's way, then every other diocese might as well start rejecting non indigenous bishops. The Pope should excommunicate the priests who doesn't send the letter by July 9. During Ordination, these priests took just 2 solemn vows - The vow of Chastity and Obedience to the Papal Authority. |

ESDKING:This topic typifies your inordinate need to marginalise and scream marginalisation forever more. Here, you have no other tribe to create a wedge so it goes to the basic of dialects. As usual you display no respect for constituted authority even as far as the papacy. This attitude is your undoing and we would all bear testament to the fall and fall of your likes. Shame on you lot. |

ESDKING:I won't banter words with you or resort to your abusive language but to tell you that I am a full blooded Igbo but one with his eyes open, ekwekwe g'emesia kwere n'ute ekwere. You can ask any of your old men to interprete for you because you are obviously of the rude younger generation. |
