i dont like the idea of a yoruba nation. we yorubas should be more open to the minorities as they feel more comfortable with us than any other major tribe in nigeria. the SS and middle belt will be part of us. and we all are going to write a new constitution that we will all agreed upon. i don't want a tribal country. just want an egalitarian country. |

Dalek:Indeed my kind Sir, a yoruba nation military council sounds just about right. and decentralise their power so each person does not know who the man on top is. this will keep them on their toes. well you all have great ideas. lets watch and see 1 Like |

Honestly our predecessors had eagle vision. In the Ibadan conference of 1950, where representatives from all parts of the country came together to form a constitution, the view was The General Conference was of the view that over-centralisation would be a grave error "in this vast country with its widely differing conditions and needs", and that the policy which had received enthusiastic support throughout the country was the policy of achieving unity at the Centre through strength in the Regions. It was confidently expected that when the Regions felt that they had wide powers to run their own regional affairs, they would be more likely ready to co-operate with the other Regions through their representatives in the Council of Ministers and the House of Representatives in serving the interest of Nigeria as a whole". Until we go back to the original plan, we're merely playing the ostrich. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

Dalek: You have a point boss. U do and I will agree with you because when sukkot mentioned names like OBJ and Tinubu, what comes to my mind is the specie of followers these greedy men has placed in power. We have lot of work to do if by tomorrow we stand alone. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

jiangchu: The goal is a successful country NOT a multi-cultural country. If success requires a Yoruba only country then so be it. Mind you, we have absolutely nothing against the SS or middle-belt. We just seek to maximize our potential as a people. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Outofsync:you are right. well we have the intellectuals and the manpower. if GOD be on our side who can be against us right ? it would be a great thing to have an actualised oduduwa nation with zero tolerance for corruption and everything working perfectly. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Outofsync: There was a fundamental error that they made, which they also did not envisaged. The constitution of then should have been drafted in a manner that prevents meddling of FG in Regional affairs. Ahmadu Bello exploited that very well using his stooge Balewa and with the tacit support of Zik and Okpara. 6 Likes 1 Share |

FisifunKododada: why I said 3 is so we can have it like say eg. (lagos west, Lagos east and Lagos Central). having 2 maybe be ok but in the long run it may not offer enough opposition and majority in the Senate floor. in terms of economy, it's still comes to government laws on easy of doing business. Business are over taxed currently. limit personal income tax to the federal. let states have company tax. this will allow state make themselves business friendly. Local Government can tax SMEs and private land use tax. Luxury tax like (huge mansions and luxury cars yatch etc should also be taxed) Definitely more tax to the rich A national mandatory health insurance senior citizens discounts etc see ehn, we have long way to go kudos to you too bruh for ur insights. 1 Like 1 Share |

jiangchu:No bro. If we include the minorities, what then is the essence of leaving Nigeria in the first place when we will still face the same problems we faced in Nigeria? Will it be sensible to form another "Mini-Nigeria"? Let the minorities stay on their own. We dont want them to accuse us of holding their progress. We dont want anybody to start crying of being marginalized. Think about it. 8 Likes 1 Share |

wristbangle:I have stayed in Benin republic before. They are not monoethnic at all. They have many ethnic groups. Even ghana has lesser ethnic groups than benin. Yorubas indigenes make up 14 percent of benin republic sha, but the fongbes and ajahs are the largest. I heard there are 33 ethnic groups in togo. You can use botswana as an example even though they are not mono-ethnic but in the african sense, you can can call them one. |

jiangchu: a wholly Yoruba nation yes, tho I feel some of the middlebelt can stand alone, we may need to accommodate those who want to but not to our own detriment. The Ebiras now may want to join since the okun people of kogi will be in a Yoruba nation. we can't say no to dem and dey can't stand alone. 6 Likes 1 Share |

deedeedee1:I think it's a matter of common interest rather than being mono-ethnic per se. Indonesia is more ethnically diverse than Nigeria, and it's more developed. Somalia is largely mono-ethnic and they can't get their acts together because of the different interest groups. The case of Nigeria is because the ethnic groups have varying interests that differs coupled with the distrust. deedeedee1:The percentage according to the 2006 cencus is 17.6%. Also what part of country did you visited, was it near the coast or more in the interior? |
