OluwabuqqyYOLO:
Thank you, my guy. I prefer a bottle of cocktail.
As my fellow men would say "in this buhari regime" please manage the beer. Waiting for the epilogue

Marital Shambles, Epilogue
__________________
The sirens wailed and protested, each flashing blue and red in very quick successions. A top politician was having a field day. It had been five years since Edwin had been put in jail. Five rainy seasons had come and left; the harmattan had always showed up, bringing with it the usual whistles and gales. No revolution had been held, though the people had always felt they could make histories. Things hadn't changed as one would have been made to think, no. It was still one mashy ancient city. Nevertheless, enticing tales kept churning out of her.

Hakeem, who had become a senior associate of Nigeria, drove on the asphalts with steady hands. He looked like he had grown a lot more younger. The roads looked familiar, and a sanctuary from ancient China manifested. A third gate had been erected and it was uglier than the previous ones. The orchards were still green, and the beauty of the atmosphere spoke to the heart. One of the walls had the large scenery affiche from Edwin's parlour.

He alighted his auto and rubbed over a minor crease on the shirt he had on. Aduke smiled when she saw him and walked up to him while he was halfway to the garden already. She kissed his lips, the sparks generating gleefully as rain on a day in July. He chewed her earlobes and put his hands on her waist while she moaned lamely.

"How did you cope?" He mouthed to her ears and resumed kissing her lips. "I missed you."

"It was hell but I'm glad you're back. It felt like a year," she giggled and laid her head on his chest. "How was it?"

"Great. Albeit I couldn't get my mind off you for just a week. How is my boy doing?" He asked and stooled down while he kept his left ear pressed to her protruding belly.

"He's asleep in his room," she sounded as if she was enjoying herself.

"And my princess here?" He winked at her and pressed her bum.

"She's doing great. C'mon let's get in." Both were in love but an happy ending was maybe uncertain.
______________
Edwin was released a year after, courtesy of a pardon by the governor that was elected the year before. The skies were blurred while the air was floating in a gin bottle. He had read of Hakeem and Aduke's union in the newspapers three years earlier. His twin girls had never made it out of the womb, Aduke told him and so every night, they lit up his world in a peripheral dimension. He saw them almost everywhere. With a body that seemed too beaten to continue and a face that had ceased to express a smile, the world kept him out of the lights.

Later, as I came to hear, he discovered that home sometimes could be a place you had never been and so solace found him. One evening, he knocked on Ihuoma's door and she let him in a fidgetiness.

Nini and Timi would have made a couple for a magazine and they eventually did. And as great as their story would have been if written, it wasn't. For as at when their dramas started, the mysterious city of Ibadan had far more enchanting tales for my ink.

THE END

So, here, we've come to an end. I most certainly hope I didn't disappoint anyone. Share the posts and follow me for my next story. If there's anyone who hasn't commented before, now would be a good time to. Thank you very much.

I must be blunt with everyone. I believe my art is at least good enough to engage your time, even if the littlest amount. So, it is very frustrating to post here and receive no commendations from you all. Some time back, I put the first seven chapters on Okadabooks and I made some sales, you see. The main reason I posted the complete story here is to make up for the people who we were following it when I first started it, and I think I'm good with them now. Think all you want about me, it's fair. Good day. It's not like I'm proving myself to anyone.

Well done oluwabuqqyyolo, I enjoyed the story. More ink to your pen.

I didn't totally grasp the epilogue though, maybe cos I can't place the characters and I am reading other stories so I might have mixed them up.

Here is how things went:

Hakeem and Aduke got married three years after Edwin got jailed. The twin-girls Aduke had in her womb both died during birth, as she told Edwin. Hakeem just let Edwin out of his mind and choose to marry Aduke instead of trying to get his friend out.

Edwin was granted a release after serving 6 years of his term, courtesy of a new Governor who let some prisoners go. Edwin was a demented man already and he saw the faces of the twins in his head, even if he never knew what they looked like. However, he somehow managed to put things together and decided to pay Ihuoma, Roberto's lawyer, a visit.

Nini and Timi eventually tied the knot but their story isn't known cos the writer had far more enchanting tales churning out of the ancient city when their dramas began, ergo, didn't know about it.

I hope we get it.

I have left many loose ends just in case I wanted to do a sequence. If I wanted to, I'd have what to write on. I'm still in contemplation at the present. However it turns out, I'll let us know.
