Maryland hospitals are pretty expensive. Your best bet would be to get a hospital in Virginia, You can google hospitals in virginia and narrow down choices based on the distance to the part of Maryland where u will be.
Vanekj:
Hello Everyone,

i'm a first timer on Nairaland. I must say a whole lot of support in here. Well done guys.

We want to have our first baby in the US. Have gone through the thread and know that i'm to:

Apply for a B1/B2 so reason can be Tourism and also to give birth.

However I need your advice on the following.

1. Affordable Hospitals in Maryland (that's where i can be accommodated). Have heard Maryland is expensive but i'm sure someone here would have eventually gotten a good deal. Please help with any link or direct contact to the hospital/doctor. i have googled and filled in contact forms but no revert. i have called but they keep directing me to their insurance company so please i'm crying for help.

2. Is or Was there anyone who planned to stay in Maryland however give birth in another state that's more affordable and not too far from Maryland. When did you leave Maryland for the place and when were you fit to travel back to Maryland after delivery. Also hospital details (especially cost) and contact to Doctor

3. Any other information would be helpful.

Thanks!

What exactly do you need help with?
Raising the $300 dollars or refuting the agent's claim?
Your post isn't clear enough.

But search for and read "visa on arrival" on this thread and your solution might lie there.

i was told that the visa opn arrival is no more, that to get a visa for my baby i will need to pay visa fee of $180 +$197 processinf fee = $377 and for 3days to get extra $85

Why dont u send an email to immigration handle that Prince Ade provided in his email, just a page b4 this. I know that nig visa can be as high as $380, so its may ne true. A lot of mamas have used VOA. No harm in trying

Hi everyone, i really appreciate the work you all are doinf on this forum. Please i'm a bit confused about the whole notarisation thing. Please can someone kindly breakdown what it's meant for. My husbabnd will be in the US when my child arrives. So do i need this notarisation for my baby's documents? What's the easiest way to get birth certificate and US passport in Texas. And how do i go about getting a SSN? Thanks everyone

Hello @miczyn @coolcathy and others using HNWMC, DH and I will be in Houston next month (August). However, we are yet to firm up accommodation. Any suggestions of affordable suites close to the hospital will be appreciated. We've tried airbnb but still on the high side.

And has anyone found a way to ensure the pediatric bill is commensurate with what is charged elsewhere (less than $500)?

Thanks for your understanding and swift response.

Any Houston bound mum in August can hit me up too.

Good day house, trust we had a good day.
I am currently feeling my wife's medical Visa form but I can't find the section that asked " if you have travelled out of the US before or in the last 5yrs " is it that is not included..
I'm asking cos I know one can find it in the Tourist (visiting) visa form.

Pls advice everyone

The Notarisation form is for those that DH won't b around to process baby's US Passport after delivery. For your other questions those who used Texas wud b in a better position to answer but not withstanding, ensure you fill and spell baby's name correctly when filling the forms for BC.

I shared it earlier but I think Just wise took it down. I used Dr. J-G Tchabo. He isn't cheap but is very experienced and you'll really enjoy his services. PM me for more info

Good evening @Dwebb55 . I'm new here, don't even know where and hw to pm here. I have a relative in Norfolk so I'm searching for hospitals around Norfolk, Hampton, Newport New, Chesapeake & co . All the OBGYN I contacted were asking that I send medical record via fax before I can even correspond with Dr. Some even asked I send it before they give price and then Dr will know whether to accept me or nt. I will be due in Nov. but hope to travel 5 or 6wks before EDD ie @ 33 or 34wks.
- Do you know any obgyn Dr. and hospitals around this axis that are affordable and easily accepts foreign patients?

I really don't know how this pm thing works. Pls can you send me a mail? obikweluogo@gmail.com
Or you can give me urs so that I can send u a mail.
Thanks

My DW and I used Inova Fairfax which is about 3.5 hours from Norfolk so I don't think I'll be of help. You can start by searching for hospital's in your area of intended stay and then calling them up or searching their websites

Thanks @Dwebb55 and Modath. After intensive research both on Nairaland and online i've told DH that i'm porting. The cost from MD no be hear o!. Considering Houston and Virginia as you mentioned

Please fellow Nairalanders, haven't seen much post here on Virginia hospitals. Any one with a contact or relevant information about Virginia please help a sister.

Also considering using either Oakbend hospital or Elpaso. Since i have family in Maryland plan is to travel at 32 weeks to Maryland and then move to Texas closer to due date (at least to save some accommodation cost in Texas) then return to Maryland after birth before coming back to Naija. I plan to say all this during my Interview. I've read so much about honesty and all during interviews on this platform. Please advise me if i'm on the right track.

Please anyone with Direct contact with EL-paso or Oakbend please email me @ Vanekj03@yahoo.com. Or let me know so i can send PM you. i hope i got that right. I'm still a bit new to how Nairaland works though...Lol

Thanks Guys!

Herico doctors hospital Virginia.. It'd about 1hr 30min to Maryland

Most doctors tell you that you have to be in for your first appointment by a certain time usually by 32/33 weeks of gestation, have you considered that?

Assuming that's not an issue, have you thought about the cost of your prenatal checks in Maryland during your stay there before you move on to Texas? Who will handle your prenatal care in Maryland? Won't you have to pay another doctor in Maryland for that? What if your baby comes earlier than expected? What if you have an emergency? What's the cost of transportation to and fro Texas? How much will you really be saving at the end of the day? Is that figure really worth all the hassle? At the end of the day, you "may" find that getting an affordable accomodation in Houston/El Paso may be cheaper for you in the long run.

In as much as you want to save cost which I absolutely understand, you have to be careful with your decisions so as not to end up being penny wise pound foolish.
