Using 'ignorance' is just mincing words. Nowdays, when a person requests for the name of my device I just jejely say na from china. I no get time to dey explain.
Most people are blinded by the medicore phones all these underpar chinesse company dump in Nigeria all in the name of making available cheap devices. Imagine Infinix using MT6573 for a device(Infinix Note 4) in 2017?? undecided and it is their top of the line phone!!! lipsrsealed

That what I always say also, I just tell them that it's chinco but if the person insist, I will say MI note 4

in dis country's people love whats good, and are willing to pay d price, it's a market where used and brand new items sell like crazy

if u people so much believe in d brand xiaomi, y not import enough stock open a shop and sell, lets see how the business will go

if they is anything Tecno Infinix have, is dat they understand the needs of the Nigeria market that's y dey both hav 45% of market shares on mobile phone

xiaomi should come and compete nor be to dey tier mouth online

until xiaomi enter Nigeria market and succeed, i won't rate them

a device were by if even ur screen guard goes bad na to order for China and order even our local boys don't even sell their accessories

I think I'm in a vantage point to talk about this.
The business is very promising for any one that have the wherewithal to do so. It's just a matter of investment and doing a very nice homework.
Prices won't remain d same if Xiaomi company gangan come here tho

Poor Logistics, bureaucracy / red tape, poor infrastructure in Nigeria is probably what's keeping the likes of Xiaomi, Meizu and co away from Nigeria..I have to give it to Tecno and co, it ain't easy doing business in this country.. My opinion anyway..

this is d comment I'm waiting for, we know prices won't be the same if Xiaomi comes, probably it will start selling almost same price as Samsung, iphone device and we both know it will be difficult to compete with those 2 brands, but not impossible

it's a fact that those high end user will rather settle for Samsung or Iphone and the average user will still think Tecno and Infinix is far cheaper

don't think xiaomi have not done their home work

same reasons why brand new vehicle can't compete with used vehicle in Nigeria market is same reason why Xiaomi can't compete with top brands in Nigeria, and d reason why low income earners will still prefer Tecno and Infinix

True. But the brands in Nigeria are a rip-off. 1 GB ram phone for about 35k. I bet you, if xiaomi should enter Nigeria, they'll sell those phones less than 20k and still make profit.

that is a nice view u blived in n u cn hold on to dt bt kindly lemme chip dz in, nigerian mobile market aint as competitive n sensitive like indian, chinese and us market....xiaomi don capture 2 out of it, bt US market, ani1 well informed will b aware of patent law suits dt will ff ani folks dt try to break into dt market plus if local carriers like at&t and verizon are nt sellin ya phone, u re slightly doomed...jus take a look @ htc u11 n sony xperia z line...
nigerian market z d least to come into xiaomi's mind, jus take a look at dia global market share, where ya beloved brand dey.... xiaomi z an international brand bros, nt a region specific brand like ya tecno n infinix...if u wan dey use ya region brand, kip it up

Make I dey here dey watch all our economic analysts grin, so una think say if xiaomi come Nigeria e go dey very expensive like Samsung abi? Una better bring up all d parameters wen una take arrive at that. Also d amount we take dey buy from AliExpress, hope una kw say nr b official price too. Well, I kw say if dem eventually come here, Redmi note 4 mtk can NEVER sell for dsame amount as the Tecno phantom 6 plus with virtually similar hardware, if e red e nr go sell pass 80k, all those claiming say na because of dollar naim make those Tecno and Infinix dey overpriced, make una come explain wetin make their prices dey crash rapidly. As far as I know, as small as this thread b, e don dey already affect the phone market for Nigeria. As an example, check the prices of Xioami phones for jumia, I dey 100% sure say na dis thread crash the prices from previously almost double d amount, and by extension the likes of Tecno and Infinix get to adjust their prices too to avoid suffocation. Anyway, why una think say Infinix Note 4 cost below 60k? Nr b clear eyes.

No now. No one is doing head-to-head comparison here. Just like a quick overview of where Xiaomi will likely stand if it comes to have a base here.

Well, like I said, price won't b up to d likes of Samsung n iPhone but will definitely go up. The price increase on aliexpress deals are more or less aliexpress charges and d lil profit a typical Chinese adds.
The bottom line is DT aliexpress prices aren't very far from d retail prices in China. Someone bought from China and shared on ds thread if I could remember. How far was d price from aliexpress's?

If xiaomi decides to come here tomorrow, it won't be as bad as ppl think.
If they don't allow some indigenous gluttons into their midst, most brands will pack up.
That's just d fact!
All they need do is to increase their budget and midrange varieties.

Yeah, we are saying same thing, but the way these our local brands have blindfolded Nigerian customers is alarming! Imagine people thinking Tecno makes cheap phones! They actually did in the days of the N3, N7, and Phantom f7, but not now. If you check the price of the Tecno f7 for instance when it launched for around 36k, it was almost similar to offers from Xiaomi and Meizu then. Right now because people don't know about specs and all, they dish out trashes and sell them at exorbitant prices. As I have stated before, if Tecno or Infinix should produce a phone like the Redmi note 4 with snapdragon, they will sell for over 170k, and you'll see people here calling it cheap. The advert will be like 'the fastest and best processor in the world - octacore snapdragon, 2.0Ghz( without ever letting consumers know its actually snapdragon 625). Again you'll see people justifying the price tag with the claim,' afterall it's a snapdragon device '.
