Let's do d math,
principal, P=5,000,000 assumed interest, I=15% add 200,000k yearly. for 20 years
200,000k is 200,000/5,000,000=0.04 of P
=5,000,000*(1+0.15+0.04)^20 =162,147,117.3
for 10 years
=5,000,000*(1+0.15+0.04)^10 =28,473,418.9

I just got 78days for 15%.. is this a good investment from firstbank??

Although i saw 18% for 176days which i could have gone for but i took in consideration of the maturity date that's why i settled for the former.

Plus in i signing the treasury certificate given to me by the bank?

Although i didnt get any credit or debit alert from the bank, but when i checked, the money has been deducted.

Sorry pastor, I am not too vast in calculation/account I just know a little to calculate either 91,182 or 360 days and that's all.

Alikote:
the only time they can use your money as their credit balance is when it matures and is return to your accounts under their leger

example ur tb matured next month then skye bank collapse today it doesnt concern you cbn(liquidator) will ask you to provide new account for onward payment

2 if your tb matures tomorrow and by morning the investment hit your account from their onward the risk is on you not cbn a split second counts if the bank collapse with time difference of one second from credit alert u and your bank carry the risk

3.treasury bill is more than 40 year old no history of default by cbn and Nigeria...even in the 90 with all those wonder banks ..example Savannah bank we where still paid just 7 days late even the 7 days cbn paid interest at market rate

Wow... This is the real experience...

The rates appear ok. I guess it's primary you went for?

Any amount from 100k. Treasury bills rate doesnt correlate with the investment amount. It is fixed deposit rate that may be determined by the amount you want to fix at a fixed rate.

Lets assume a figure of 1m @18% for 182 days with a re-invested interest for

1,000,000 × 18% = 90,000
90,000 x 18% = 8,000
8,008 x 18% = 720

At the end of 6 months or 182 days will be:

90,000 + 8,008 + 720 = 98,728

Am i right?

how do you know the percentage that you got because I didn't know mine, just got debit alert and my upfront interest has not been paid
When should I be expecting the interest because I was debited yesterday

Try to go back to the bank. If you invested in d primary market, u may not know the rate until the interest is paid. But, if u invested in secondary market, you should know the rate you are investing..

I also did mine with fbn too although another branch. I have just been debited but no credit alert for interest paid yet. So maybe u can check back in the bank to enquire why u havent received d interest upfront. Perhaps you didnt tick interest to be received upfront.

you are correct, however, what the person got was just a debit alert more of a lien place on the account to hold the money pending a successful auction or otherwise.
If the auction sails through, a debit advise would follow asap with all required details, otherwise, the money returns back.

I did mine yesterday, cos i have not been around to submit earlier, i got 'debited' this morning, although no alert, i just checked my balance and saw that the money has been zapped shocked shocked shocked This doesnt spell a succesful auction for me yet, till about friday, then i would know better

Lol.. dont be scared u will be paid ur interest. I have also gone to the bank to ask why i have been debited and my interest not yet paid to me. The banker said i should wait till after 4pm that i would get d interest. The one i did last week and today are secondary markets since there are no 83days and 78days in primary market auctions.
We only have:
91days, 182days and 364days in primary market tenors.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 3:56pm On Jul 19, 2017
I did my tb on the Primary market which was supposed to be auctioned on the 20th, which is tommorow with first bank. I got a notification today advising I got 18.3% for 364 days. It seems a bit low especially because it was done on the Primary market, also principal amount debited and no interest on the account.

Is this normal?

Today was the auction day, not 20th.
18.3% is almost the best you will get. 18% and above is great for 364 days.
I don't know what your expectation was. 30%??
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by freeman67: 6:56pm On Jul 19, 2017
please house let us note that if investment is done through primary market.. Interest is paid after settlement. Settlement is mostly done on Thursday preceding the auction Wednesday. For those Using First Bank always be sure of the option you choose; try and remember if you ticked for you interest to be reinvest with your principal or not to avoid unnecessary anxiety..

For those complaining they do not know the rate given to them kindly go to your bank on Friday or mail them to send you your proof of investment. That way you will know the exact rate you are given and what is deducted ad commission by your bank.
