The sellsword part of his force deserted him (surprised? not really. That what sellswords do). To further illustrate the point. Go and watch the scene of the fight between Stannis and Ramsey again, you'd see clearly he had more than a thousand men in that fight (which happened after the desertion).

So yes. I still believe a war strategist like Stannis (reputed to be one of the finest commanders in Westeros) wouldn't have left Dragonstone unammned.

seven all season and nobody has been man enough to woo and fork sansa. sansa is too beautiful to have not been forked very hard and fast. well i guess the absence of young sharp guys in the series has made it to be so. They should feature me in just two episode and see if i wont fork sansa over and over again. the writers of the series needs to get her laid.

I believe Stannis wanted to set up shop north so there wasn't really any reason to leave a garrison at dragonstone since he needed every man he could spare. He didn't plan on returning there for a while so I see no reason to protect it and it didn't seem anyone else was particularly interested in taking it.

Exactly my thought. It would have made more sense to show a handful of men Stannis left to man the castle (captured and imprisoned by Dany's soldiers prior to her arrival). Considering the importance of Dragonstone to Kings landing (via the Blackwater), it makes no sense that it was empty.

In the books, there was a horn Euron had a man blow at the Kingsmoot. A large horn covered with runes that glow red when the horn is blown. I can't remember if it had a name, or any special properties.
The man who blew it died though, had his insides cooked or so.

Edit: Yup, the horn is called Dragonbinder, and it tames dragons.

Yes, I'm aware of "Dragonbinder" (but that's because I've read the books. A subject that is, for inexplicable reasons, a taboo here). As far as we (TV viewers) are concerned, the Dragonbinder deosn't exist.
