this transcript in Lagos is a white paper..

Please and please can student avoid abuja embassy for now at least.. I use God name they beg unah ooooo

This is quite true some other VOs might not overstretched this b4 giving out the white papers.

I noticed recently that Abuja VOs are now paying detail attention to bank statement as the easiest way to deny student visa. They just realise many of the monies come heavily in week preceding account statement print.

Truly this is ground for denial anyway in US as source of income is in doubt. However in Nigeria, many people don't keep money in bank and get money from varied source.

Students should go with account statement with even spread of money not in quick succession

Which country.... nigeria grin

If it US then it very dependent on states, your experince and when you can pass written and practical test . Different states can have different rules

For me i stayed in washington DC and even could not drive . When i got there i heard Nigerians could just swap their Nigerian licence for a US licence in DC no test no nothing. So i got my parents to get me a Naija licence even though i was not in the country or could not drive. Then i swapped it and got a US licence just like that grin(maybe written test , cant remember)..... thankfully a friend taught me how to drive in 1 week (I had internship in the middle of nowhere where there was no buses so I had to learn quickly .......... I drove carefully until my hand was strong and didnt kill anyone

Not the best story in the world but that was my experience. Not all states do swap so you have to check each state requirements

Lol. Anything can happen in naija gringringrin

Between Connecticut and Massachusetts. My naija license expired last year and I've since not renewed. If I decide to go renew now, it will take months to get it.I've got about 12 years of experience. I hear I may have to take a written and on-the-road test. What I'll like to know is how long the entire process may take.

Hypocrisy at its peak. So you got a Nigerian DL through a back channel and still flaunting that.

Very very sad. The problem with Nigeria is not just government or politicians, parents induldge their kids in so many things so they can give then the "imaginary good life" paying for special centers for JAMB, bribing their way through many things.

Its sad and very sickening

Whatever ... what the requirement to get a driving licence in naija at that time. You apply and get a licence. No practical or written test.... i didnt do anything different other than someone submiting the application on my behalf which was allowed as well

I did not get it through back channel but the standard process . . Neither did i write the rules

Why do you want us to start thinking about your school? What's our business with your school? If you like say it, If you like don't. And by the way Stanford isn't Ivy League.
And people with Ivy League admission hardly get scrutinized at the embassy, so you should be good I guess. And they rarely ask for bank statements even from people like us with regular admission.

Hello,

Quit this chest beating and ignorant attitude.
Government issued ID's whether a passport or DL cannot be applied for legally using proxys, third party or agent. Your mum did not do right.Shikena!

So when others are trying to " cheat" the system to get to the USA (totally inappropriate too) don't always be the first to cast a sanctimonious stone

Hello everyone,

I've been following this thread for a while and it has been a roller-coaster of emotions. One person will get rejected, another will get accepted...na wa o!

I would please like some advice on preparation. I got accepted to an Ivy league school (think Harvard/Princeton/Stanford) for a masters. One of the requirements for issuing my I-20 was to show that I had all the money in my account. Luckily I got financial aid worth half the cost of attendance. I had to borrow the rest and put it into an account to show the school. I now have my I-20.

My interview is next week Monday and I am nervous because I have had to return some of the money. So what I did was print my statement up until when I still had the full amount in my account. By the time I go to the embassy, the statement will be 3 weeks old. Please would this be too late for the embassy? Do you think I would have potential problems?

Thank you!

What you termed a problem is not a problem. 3weeks old SOA is good to take along with you to the embassy. The real question and problem you should be thinking about is, whether the SOA shows good cash inflow and outflow and not just a lump sum of money deposited at one particular time. However, your interview will most likely be one of those where SOA is not asked for sighting. Additionally, do you really have the funds to pay for the remaining tuition? Do you have plans on how you are going to pay? Falling out of status is not a cool situation

Agreed. But the rate of denials lately in that location is alarming.
What if there are more approvals but unfortunately most of those denied there are on this thread and thereby we think Abuja is extremely tough

My people Stop controlling ur fate. Visa approval is not location dependent. God might have pre-approved ur visa at lagos embassy then you will stubbonly choose abuja embassy and bag a denial. (many people gets denied due to this but they dont know). I say follow ur mind and pray. when choosing embassy Just choose the one convenient for you. i for one chose lagos because it was closer to me than abuja.

In Nigeria back then you can get a Nigerian passport through an agent. It was recorgnise and standard process . You used a wrong example. It was very much allowed. The use of agent or proxys was made redundant when biometric was introduced

Sure while legally it might have been allowed , morally what she or he did was wrong ...

Hi!

Thank you for your response. The issue with my school is that they wanted an account that is accessible in both Nigeria and the US, therefore I had to open a Standard chartered account. The money came in bits...a million here, a million there, until the complete fees were there. I was a bit annoyed because no other school seemed to have that requirement.

Anyway I will be back here to testify! God bless this forum. it has been so helpful.
