thanks bro if that is the case, its better than fixed deposit, Right? pls do you mind telling me why people go for fixed deposit when their is Treasury bill?
Better than fixed deposit? Certainly yes...
Information is power. People are not well informed about T.bills hence the only option is fixed deposit. Even the bank would want you to go for fixed deposit instead of T.bills.

The bank used your money to buy T.Bills at 15% and gives you fixed deposit at 10% . The bank makes 5%.from you.
Meanwhile you can purchase you T.bills yourself.

Majority do not know about treasury bill even though some may have heard about it just like me some time ago. Some who have burnt all ten fingers in ponzi schemes now fear anything called investment and are just comfortable with leaving their remaining money in their bank account.

Some here got to be interested because many selfless folks here took their precious time to explain all you must know about Tbills and they also spoke confidently from personal experiences. That is why i always encourage folks to read from page 0 of this thread by the time you get to this page you would have no question that had not been answered.

This thread will produce multiple millionaires in years to come if they can stick to their investment discipline.

Kudos gurus: @Amjustme where are you? Missing in action??

Very true.
The bank staff did all they could to convince me the day I decided to liquidate my FD and go for TBills. They failed because my mind was made up and I have spotted the difference. Thumbs up to the creator and contributors of this thread.

You mean 182 days? And for Primary Market?
Then it's between 17 & 17.2% since about 3 months

IMO, people should stop disparaging comments about FD. There were times in the past when NTB rates were far poorer than FD rates. There were times I got rates just as good as NTB

I wonder if y'all would've been as enthusiastic when rates were sub 10%

But will the interest be paid immediately after debiting my account or will it be paid with the interest at maturity?

what he was talking about is that he got 177 days at 18%. You know it all depends on what is available for that day. The first day I went there for inquiry I was told they have only 178 days and when I returned for the investment proper I got 176.

I see what you mean. Thanks Kimsunh for helping out.

You must know this about the Secondary Market: it is what is available that they will tell you. It changes every second as it were.

Every tenor and rate has certain volume of money attached, the chances of it staying long on the market depends on the availability of buyers and the value of their investment. You may have 120days at 18.25% and maybe N12m of that tenor left. Assuming someone wants to invest N13m he cannot go for that rate becus his intended investment is larger than what is available whereas someone investing N5m can invest in same. The other day i was filling my form for a 332days tenor at 18.35% and what was available was N2m of that investment. Before i could finish, it was viam - empty grin Someone has picked it. Remember that the portal is same nationwide as i was told.

Happy investing.

Some are warming up for the Primary market come Wednesday 2nd Aug.

let's not even go too far, 2014 if I remember vividly, Fixed deposit was doing better than even Mutual fund houses. Fixed deposit was kinging then! so you are right, its all about being informed with the latest

You will decide which of the options you want. A form will be given to u and u will indicate if you want your interest upfront(now) or at maturity.

Can i collect my treasury bill proof of investment from other firstbank branches anywhere. I dont want my account officer to start disturbing me to do F.D. she has been begging me to do F.D of any amount meanwhile she is also in charge of T.B

OK. Many thanks

Considering that I'm going for 364days i think it's better to take the interest upfront.

@House Please confirm if bid is available for next week

The beauty in the way Stanbic operates is that they will only debit your account with the discounted amount leaving your interest in your account unlike what most other banks do by debiting the whole amount and crediting back your interest few days after.

I think you can but you should have done the investment in another branch so that it would be easier to approach same person for the hard copy

yes and I can bet with you that you can't get that juicy rate with primary market. Last one I did with Gtb was 17.3.
