Marriage is a purpose driven relationship so there are not set formulae. The destination you are headed determines the vehicle of choice. And to guarantee you will get there it is best to permit God to determine even that....so age, colour, background, etc are secondary issues...not on the exclusive list.

Some people are 40yrs and yet not matured enough for any kind of relationship while some are 16 yrs and behave maturedly such that people begin to doubt their age. For me maturity is far of age.

That may be true to some extent but the years spent (even suffering from recession grin

, just surviving, life experience, seeing marriages succeed/fail) must count for something. You only really know when push comes to shove. Also an average 40 years old person ought to have earned and achieved something in life already: training, education, material stuff and so on that could benefit a relationship/marriage.

I know you only picked age 40 figuratively.

AS for age, we are all wired differently. What works for one may not work for the other. But generally more than 10 to 15 years difference is really pushing it. People can simply change irrespective of age though.

When I was 20 I dated a 20 year old .Ever since then I've been stuck in time. Now I'm 27 and my girlfriend is 20. I want to get married and have 2 kids at 35 or 40 to a 20 year old girl. I'll divorce when she gets to 30 ,though we 'll likely remain good friends ,i'll get myself another 20 year old girl for another decade. I believe that I deserve the best. I hope to live to 105. At 95,I'll get another 20 year old girl to spend the rest of my life with. I guess I just have a thing for 20 year olds(17.99 to 25 - ideal for man of any age .26 to 30 - grumpily manageable) .

The issue of age is one of the trivial things one can bother or fret over in relationships, especially marriage. Personality, which determines your compatibility counts a lot as maturity has little to do with age. Invariably, it boils down to whatever rocks your boat. There's no such thing as ideal age gap. If either of the partners is OK with the characteristic traits, then you're good to go!

I know husband and wife whose ages are 70,70 .
The first girlfriend of my was 7 years older than me, we had perfect understanding.
My current mistress is 4 years older than me, we go out well, no qualms.

My write ups is with respect to marriage and not just being in a relationship that has no direction.

It is ideal for the man to be older than the woman in any relationship.

This is because women naturally grow older than the men. Especially after child birth.

So, marrying a younger woman has its many advantages and also some disadvantages.

I observed that older woman are more strategic as they already have a plan before getting married.

On the other hand, younger woman needs more guidance up to a particular time before they pick up.

So, considering age difference before getting married is a major factor.

The question now is, how do you calculate the age difference between you and your spouse.

The simple calculation is (The man's Age / 2) + 7.

So the younger you are, the younger your wife should be.

And the older you are, the older your wife should be.

This means that a man who is 26years old can get married to the age range of women from 20 years and above.

(26 / 2) + 7 = 20

The age difference is relative and not a fixed figure.

However, as they say "Age is nothing but a number".

Personally,I preferred that a man is older than me,at least by 2 years and not more than 7 years.

My husband is 6 years older than I am.
