Why is it we see alot of first bank rates shared but little of stanbic IBTC secondary market rate shared? Also it is said that first bank is the "king of the secondary market and juicy rates"

But when asked which bank to go for people advise stanbic IBTC... Why is that pls?

Well people can only speak for themselves and what they know. I have been to both stanbic and fistbank to make enquiries on the secondary market rates. Trust me Stanbic offered a very juicy rate which i could have gone for but the stress of opening new Stanbic account and transferring my funds from fbn made me to stick with FBN. In addition the rates of stanbic have little or no difference to that of fbn just that 1% is material when dealing wih large sum of money. I hope i av told u my own reasons!

You can also be like me. Even though im still a learner where d likes of feelamong investnow2017 and emmanuelewumi etc are.
I stumbled on this thread, read most of the previous pages if not all, then did my own background check before i could invest in NTB of firstbank. Infact the officer in charge of NTB is my friend as she has taken her time to explain hw it works even though she wants me to do F.D with her even if it is any amount. Although i av posted her so many times it pays to even put 100k in TB than yo do F.D.

Good question, you asked a question which 97% of bank customers will ask.

I suggest you get a book titled"Getting rich with other people's money" by Paul Sarnoff.

Currently have about 10 Treasury bills investments with staggered maturity periods.

I used one of my TB as a collateral for a loan of N1 million in July 2017, interest rate was 25% while the duration is for 1 year.
Monthly payment is about 95k for 12 months which will amount to N1.14 million, processing, management fees etc is 30k. At the completion of the loan payment, I would have paid N1.17 million.

I bought Zenith Bank shares with the loan @ N22, UBA shares @ N8.50, Lafarge WAPCO shares at N52.

Now Zenith bank is over N25, UBA is about N10, Lafarge WAPCO is N60.

I am expecting interim dividends from Zenith and UBA in 2 weeks time, final dividends from the 3 companies at the end of this financial year, as the country is getting out of recession I am expecting further capital appreciation.

I am enjoying both worlds of my TB investment that is running and the returns from my further investment in the capital market.

NB. Don't try this if you lack deep knowledge of leveraging and what you want to invest in.

If I liquidate my loan before the 12 months my financing cost will be lower.
@emmanuelewumi,(I hope I got it right) I like your analysis. But I am not deep rooted in stock for now,I also wanted to get a loan but I cannot pay their interest monthly cos I do not have a sure monthly income for now. I have a TB and mutual funds running. How do I achieve this kindly explain if you have any idea

What do you want to use the loan for? Try and build the turnover in your account. Since you do not have a steady flow of income, but money do come into your account, you can obtain an overdraft from your bank.
Your first loan, may be difficult but subsequent ones will be easy.

Start with an overdraft of about 4 months. You pay back the interest and loan as a bullet payment at maturity, but loan officers may want you to service the interest every month.

Could not find the e-book online. Only hard copy on Amazon. Kindly suggest alternatives

I understand the basic idea of leverage, although I'm leery of using it for speculation as it can amplify your losses (and gains). I'd rather use it for cash flow generating projects. How do you minimise your losses (on the investments)if things go south? or if the prices don't rise as anticipated within the specified timeframe?

Please help me out. I really don't understand the primary and secondary market. The rates am seeing on this thread for secondary market seems to be higher than primary market. Please am confused about the difference...

If am to invest 500k in both primary and secondary market for 182 days tenor, what would be my interest?

Thanks in anticipation

Is the business registered? How long have you been running the business? Do you have a bank account for the business? How much do you need? What is the duration of the loan?

Your answers to the questions will be needed to give you answers to your questions.

You apply for a personal loan based on the turnover on your account, adequate collateral, ability to convince the loan officers about your character and ease of paying back at the appropriate time.

You may not get an overdraft of 1 year, but a term loan that requires monthly payments.

From my little experience, primary market is best if you are going for the 364 tenor because the rates are usually higher than the secondary market for this tenor.

For lesser tenors, secondary market is better.

Hello Gurus! I want to invest 1m in the secondary market for a tenor of 91 days. How much should I earn at maturity? Please assist me.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by RealityShot: 9:01am On Jul 30, 2017
FOR THOSE WHO ARE STILL ON THE FENCE ABOUT T-BILLS VS FIXED DEP

i just got an alert for my savings account with Fidelity..

see i put N5100 there for test
they paid me N10.45 interest.

well thats 2.5 per annum interest rate!

i also put N5000 in a tbills fund that pays 18% its showing N50+ now

SO Tbills is better than Fixed dep (which they offerred me 6%/yr)
AND if you still have funds in a savings account fallowing..
YOU SHOULD MOVE IT OUT TOMORROW

i am now saving in a Money Market fund..NOT BANK

thank God for sending all the contributors and creator of this thread!
God bless you more wink

if you are lucky to get a tenor around
that num .. See if you can take one around 18%

Then you can get 180k divided by 4 quaters..i.e. 45k

Thanks for your prompt response. However, i am currently going through your educative articles on Jarushub, which i stumbled on by chance. My intention for sending PM to you, was to pick your brain, on how you were able to transit from paid employment into CEO of your plethora of businesses?

I'll appreciate your timely response.

I guess your worry is with regards to a sanction for forex they repatriated for MTN, that is nothing compared to what rogue banks like EcoBank do, Stanbic is probably the 3rd most compliant bank in naija, its actually an International Bank trading with different names in other African countries.
