A Lagos businessman and alleged Badoo shrine chief priest, Chief Alaka Abayomi has accused the police of framing him up as a member of the dreaded Badoo cult group in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

You recall that on Monday, July 31, Nigeria police uncovered a shrine believed to be the hideout of notorious serial killers, Badoo, terrorising Ikorodu.

A traditional ruler (baale) of Ipakodo, Ikorodu, Lagos, Alhaji Tijani Awoyemi, was arrested over the activities of the killer cult group, Badoo, in his domain. Also arrested were the chief priest of the shrine, Alhaji Alaka Abayomi, Jimoh Christian and Owoyemi Bamidele.

According to Abayomi, he was invited by the Police two weeks ago. He honoured the invitation where he was made to write a statement.

During the visit, he was asked if he belonged to the Badoo cult group and he told them he did not belong to the group but has a dedicated traditional place of worship.

Abayomi said after the interrogation, he was allowed to go home only for the Police to storm his house at Magodo where he lives on Sunday, 30th of July, 2017 and told him that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Edgar wants to see him and that he followed them.

“On their way to the State Command they stopped twice and picked two other men. On getting to the State Command I was detained and no one told me what my offence was.

“The following day, they brought me out, put me in a vehicle with pressmen and asked me to take them to my dedicated traditional place of worship at Agbowa in Ikorodu and I took them there, they searched everywhere and found nothing incriminating.

“That traditional place of worship has been there for over 30 years and there are over 100 traditional places of worship in Ikorodu alone and they found nothing in that place, yet they tagged me a murderer and a member of Badoo cult group.

“Tell me if I belong to Badoo cult group, will they release me? And for 30 years, I have lived in Ikorodu, people know I am a business man and they know the kind of business I do so who exactly is sponsoring the police to tarnish my good name that I have built for a long time?” Abayomi queried.

In a statement released on Monday, Lagos police command spokesperson , Olarinde Famous – Cole, said a joint team of the police uncovered buildings, which had different kinds of charms, used by the gang.

Police cannot just get up and arrest someone for a crime as big as this if he's truly innocent. Don't forget that there are badoo members in police custody and they have rich sponsors. Those guys must have mentioned him and others as their sponsors. Kudos to the Nigerian police, this shows that if they really mean to work, they'll work. A snake cannot die except the head is cut off, if they keep lynching them, the attacks will not stop until the sponsors are arrested

Anything is possible in this country.

You might not be a Baddoo member, but you are a skull miner; so what's the difference?

embarassed

Aww, he must be innocent because no baddo member will ever say what he just said

What about the four graves and the fifth freshly dug one.

I know it was the police that dug those ones up.

And it was the police that conferred on you the title of Alhaji because everyone knows you are a traditional worshipper.

The police are wicked and not our friend

It is obvious that we are leaving out the real issue in this arrest. Some gravestones e are seen in the uncovered shrine. I think questions should be asked about why the graves are there, the people who are buried there, and what exactly the man uses the place for asides the healing he claims, people that I have been healed there among others before we can truly exonerate him. Also, we need to know how police got to know about the shrine and the likes. I still have the feeling that something is fishy about the shrine.

Until they uncover the contents of the grave before we know if u re truly innocent. Once any human remain is found. U should be presumed guilty of murder.
