My worry is: if 75 pointers for just 2 rounds have collected 620 slots out of 1574 slots, leaving 954 slots for 70 pointers from March!! Slots would be exhausted by 1st round in October. Aswear down this 2611 no be am at all; but as it is my profession, there is nothing I can really do about it.
Over to Baba God!

Means no much hope for 65 pointers. I think they will have to spread the 70 points ITA to cross into 2018 just to keep the occupation in the rounds as they can't use up all the slots in 3months

@jayohh is almost impossible for a civil engineer with 60 or 65points to get invited?
It will eventually get to them once that backlogs of higher points are cleared. It's just the wait that might be something else. Maybe in another 2 months sha, 60 pointers in non competitive occupations will start getting ITAs
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bumpypat(m): 3:24pm On Aug 04, 2017
So d level of competition in a given occupation is a key factor at dis time?
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Alphadoor: 3:35pm On Aug 04, 2017
jayooh:

Do they try sorting it out by occupation?
So let say for example, 200 applicants are to be invited in a round; and you have say a very competitive occupation like accountants having 140 applicants with 70+ points. Now would the invitation cater for all of them at the detriment of other less competitive ones with lower points say 60-65 or is there a basis for spreading the 200 slot across different professions?

That would be unfair and DIBP is always doing its best to be fair grin "dont quote me oo"
This is why there is a Pro -rata Arrangement for such occupations.

Pro-Rata: a proportion of the qualified people will be invited, instead of inviting all of them to fill up the quota for the round

Yellow card, yes. PCC, no testimony of Nigerian PCC obtained on a Saturday yet. At least, on this thread

Junnaid:

, please what's your advise now since I have given the occupation of my spouse? Thanks

The process for 489 is same as 190 and 189.

Read the opening page of this thread for further information.

What I am not sure is what vetasses will equate your PGD to. That is actually the key here.

You can do the advisory service first, at least with that, the money involved is not much of a pain if lost.

Alphadoor:

Example: ITA received July 25 with 70points for Accountant with Date of Effect (DOE) 18/11/2016 12:20pm

That means, in that round, the lowest ranked invitee in that occupation had 70 points and he submitted (or last updated) his EOI on 18/11/2016 12.20 pm. So, you can conclude three things (for that particular occupation):
Nobody below 70 points got invitation in the that round
All 70+ points got invitation
Among the EOIs with 70 points, those who submitted (or last updated) after 18/11/2016 12.20 pm did not get invitation.

hope that helps..

update:

All the EOIs will be sorted by points (highest to lowest) and within each point break they will be sorted by date of effect (oldest to newest). If they decide to invite 200 applicants in an invitation round, they will select the first 200 in the list. The cut-off publishes on the DIBP website is the points/date of effect of the last person who was invited.

During the time to the next invitation, new EOIs will be submitted and they will again be sorted by points/date of effect. So if you have 65 points, any new EOI with more points will go ahead of you in the queue. Any 65 point EOIs will go behind you (since you have an older EOI).

For 60 point applicants, they will remain in the queue until they reach the front of the line. The reality is that there have consistently been more new EOIs with at least 65 points to fill each invitation round, so those with 60 points are not moving forward in the line.

The occupation ceiling has been set for 2016-2017 and it will reset on July 1st. However they still refer to the same queue of EOI applications so the 60-point EOIs may continue to stand still while new EOIs overtake them.

Sorry just to get it clear...when you sent your eoi does not really matter as long as you rank high in the pool?like if someone sent eoi with a score of 65 in March 2017 and another sent eoi in June 2017 with a score of 75...the candidate with the higher score gets ita irrespective of effective date of eoi?
Until the cut off points drop to 65 before the march candidate will be invited (assuming occupational ceilings have not been reached)....pls my people just help me clarify because some occupations are highly competitive

That is correct if you are in the same occupation with the person. However, somebody nominating an occupation that is less competitive with 60 points (e.g Agric. Consultant) can get an ITA before another person nominating an occupation that is more competitive with 75 points (Accountant general) assuming they both have the same DOE

Regional nomination fee in NSW is over double state nomination fee, 770: 300 AUD. And the areas sef are not so attractive. Pls can one change between regional areas? Like moving from the one that sponsored you to another area( though still regional) is it allowed?

Consider hitting English for 20 points and you more than home dry. I see it as an opportunity for you to do 189 which gives you a lot more freedom of you will.

I think you can but you have to show reason for moving, eg not able to get a job in that region for at list 6months.

With this they will give you letter allowing you to move to another regional area.

My one cent wait for bellong and others to add more

Dear,

Please while registering for IELTS with British Council, where I am supposed to input "given names", I only wrote one name instead of two as it appears int'l passport and I have submitted the application.

Can I still go ahead and make payment? So all the names British Council has is just my surname & first name but the name on my passport is Surname, two other names.

Am I safe to make payment? Hope it wont affect me in any ways in the future?

mrsojephone:
Well done to all the gurus in the house. Nairaland is an addiction.

Pls, i need advice and input from all.
Situations:
EA Assessment is done: Engineering Technologist
IELTS first attempt: l/s/r/w 8, 8.5,85,7
IELTS second attempt: l/s/r/w 8.5,8.5,8.5,7.5
IELTS third attempt: booked awaiting result
PTE: no available date in Melbourne till sept
Points acquired now: Age 25 + BEng 15 English 10 points
We are still aiming for the 20 points so we can apply for 189 and 190
Now my question I have Electrical & Electronics HND, ND, City and Guilds certificate, can I go through the TRA route.
1) Why the TRA route because Engineering Technologist now is Pro Rata. For occupations e.g Electrical Engineering Technician, Electrician (General) in TRA with 60 there are still more chances, what do you advise?
2) When applying for TRA we will leave out the BENG certificate I want to know if it won't be a problem when nomination comes or when we need to apply for the visa because already our details are on dibp website already because we are here on a student visa.

Hello House,

My name is Nnamdi, I studied Petroleum Engineering in Nigeria, I am currently doing my masters in Oil and Gas Engineering at UWA, I have been reading this trend for a while and I have really enjoyed the way we help each other on this platform, Anyways I would like to get an advise as to how I can go about with my PR plans.

Three weeks ago, I noticed that Petroleum Engineering was added to MLTSSL but @bellong and others explained that it doesn't mean we can apply as skilled independent (189).

So my question to the house is please, what other way can I go about this residency issue.....I appreciate any opinion.

Thanks guys

If you are in Lagos, go to their office with your passport and tell them to help you correct your name.

Better you don't make payment till your five working days lapses, then you can register and in put your names correctly or you goan correct it in their head office as suggested earlier.

@paka2016,

You can apply for Engineering technologist.

@cleanspills,

New South Wales and South Australia sponsor bricklayers on 190.

Apply to both states but give more preference to New South Wales. Meanwhile, put more effort in attaining your desired scores through English test.

Hi Billy,

Don't stress it. You may go ahead to make payment. I had similar experience and British Council recognize the potential for first timers to write only the first name as their given name consistent with the format of the application form. You will have at least two opportunities to correct it namely at the speaking test day and on the written test day. You will be given an admnendment form to fill before your test on day 1. The amendment would have been implemented by the time you show up for test day 2. In the event that the speaking and written tests are on successive days thus making it difficult to implement an amendment submitted at the first test day, you will be given an admnendment form at the end of the test day 2.

Just focus on preparing for the test. All the best!
