You guys sometimes ... The only way to find out something & not be rediculose in life is to ask why ? Then how ? ....
Military dont look at making stuff beutiful but effective ... There is a reason why must of everything that is training is mostly in the north first reason is History .. Kaduna was ones the capital of Nigeria thats even why is the second melting polt after lagos .. The civil war push the military to build training institution in the north ... Look at your list why is Navy hydrografic school in south south ??... Yes good answer because there is water there wow ... Very good there are reason for everything ... And when you look at it very carefully most of the training of army/airforce are in the north then the operational command is in the south East this make sense. Most of the things that are related with signals and all those blabla are Lagos no doudt Lagos is the most technology advance state in Nigeria most of the infracturture are already there. So plz stop this juju thinking and be objectiv.
And more you have divided south-west south-east and south south you must divide the north to like north west north east and north north

I'm 100% sure that with that kinda money you would've been given full access to the 'AHRLAC Aircraft' research the money would've been used to co-develop & design a larger and more powerful version of the Aircraft which also includes local production in Nigeria.
South Africa has not reached out to Nigeria enough in a manner that would produce mutual cooperation between both Countries. The main point about this deal whether it is $450 or $600 m is that the NAF by extension the FGN and the current U.S administration believe it is in their own security interests for it to happen, this is one of the main reasons why it would happen.
The relationship between Nigeria and South Africa even though it is bearing fruits for both sides has not reached that level of mutual development on Security R&grin issues it is hoped eventually both Countries will eventually get to that level.

NORTHERN NIGERIA IS DIVIDED INTO 3 REGIONS JUST LIKE SOUTHERN NIGERIA.

NORTH EAST
NORTH WEST
NORTH CENTRAL

SOUTH EAST
SOUTH WEST
SOUTH SOUTH

WHY DID YOU PUT THE ENTIRE NORTH AS ONE.
the 19 northern and the 17 southern state where created by foolish Nigeria military officers.
Before the military forced there way into power, there was NORTHERN REGION,SOUTHERN REGION, EASTERN REGION and the WESTERN REGION.
So am sure that has answered your question

FINAL PLANNING CONFERENCE: “EXERCISE BLUE KUNENE.”

The Namibian Air Force hosted the Final Planning Conference for Exercise Blue Kunene at Von Bach Dam in Okahandja from 04- 06 July2017. The conference was held to make final touches on the plans for the upcoming Exercise.

Exercise Blue Kunene is in conformity with Article 13 of the African Union, Protocol Relating to the Establishment of the Peace and Security Council which established the African Standby Force, highlighting the functional aspects of the African Standby Force as being the facilitator of “Humanitarian Assistance to alleviate the suffering of civilian population in conflict areas and support efforts to address major natural disasters”. The Exercise is conducted under the auspices of the Standing Aviation Committee (SAC) of the SADC - Inter State Defence and Security Committee (ISDSC).

The humanitarian exercise is conducted rotationally in all the 15 SADC member states after every two years. The first SADC Air Force exercise code named Exercise Blue cluster was held in the Republic of South Africa in 2011. The second one, Exercise Blue Zambezi was held in Angola in 2013 and was followed by Exercise Blue Okavango held in Botswana in 2015. The Namibian Air Force has participated in all three SADC military aviation exercises.

The conference was attended by delegates from Southern African Development Community (SADC) Air Forces/ Air Arms, Air Wings and other stakeholders, such as Office of the Prime Minister, Ministries of Education, Safety and Security, Health and Social Services, Information, Communication and Technology, Home Affairs and Immigration and the Namibia Red Cross Society.

It would have been better if you had posted this in the proper thread.

All regions have 6 States each except South East (5 states) and North West (7 states).

The South East as a whole is not as big as Niger state (70,000km2+) or Borno state (50,000km2+). South East in terms of Area is less than 30,000km2 which is around the same size with Oyo state but still 5 States were created because of the population and other political reasons.

Before now, we had Western region, Eastern region and Northern region but the Northern region was far bigger than the other two combined so correct that too.

I might not respond to you again because you are raising political issue in a military thread.

It just cant cost that much.

EXCEPT we get production rights... anything else is a rip-off.

some people here keep mentioning 'maintenance assistance, infrastructure, training, spares, guided munitions and aircraft technical bla bla bla' like it's a magic word... what sort of infrastructure is that? are they going to build us hardened bombproof hangers? what sort ground support does the Tucano utilize? is it stealth or what?

Spares? what spares?

how much does 100 guided missile munitions cost (AGM-65 Maverick or Paveway II) to warrant such cost??

dont let big grammars deceive you. WE ARE BEING S.W.I.N.D.L.E.D BECAUSE WE ARE JUST PLAIN G.U.L.L.I.B.L.E.

some say there's a 'special package' coming to us... please which special package in operating a propeller aircraft? please i dont understand. what difference is the tucano from our air Beatles and super mushshak in terms of operations? is it that we haven't learnt anything from our YEARS of operating propeller aircraft?

100 ? You don’t pay attention buddy, Naf conducts thousand of combat sorties per month, I once shared a picture of NAF munitions cache and a c-130 transporting same, 100 is a small number.

Fragmentation goes out way further than that for those bombs. Especially if is a preformed frag designs.

nemesis2u:

depends on

1.cost operational effectiveness,
2.the maximum permissible load of the individual weapon stations,
3.the mission profile
4.and the type of targets

etc

generally (very rough figures)

a 250 kg bomb has a blast radius out to 15 meters, with fragmentation effect out to 50 meters.

a 500 kg bomb has a blast radius out to 30 meters, with fragmentation effect out to 100 meters.

whats the point of attacking a hut with 3/4 insurgents with a 500kg bomb ?

will u be able to bear the costs , in such cases cost operational effectiveness is very low , ur expending more dollars for killing targets which can also be killed easily with cheaper bombs. in short ur playing into the hands of insurgents ie slow but steady attrition of ur resources

whats happens if multiple targets pops up , in place of 2 500kg bombs if u can carry 4 250kg bombs ur engagement scope increases.

is the aircraft in question certified to carry 500kg stores , if yes good if no then nothing can be done (depends on aircraft type)

if ur in a seach and destroy mission which one is generally more convenient, 4 250 kg bombs or 2 500 kg bombs

unguided bombs r more effective if released in a pattern.eg 4 250 kg bombs released in a linear drop pattern will damage a long convoy more than 2 500kg bomb.

heavier 500kg bombs r more difficult to deliver accurately vis a vis lighter 250kg bombs. difference aint much but still appreciable depending on the aircraft in question.

etc

4 250kg bombs give you better spread if your target is spaced out. Also works better on soft skinned vehicles. Trust me, I've been near 250's when they are dropped and it's no joke. Take extra underwear.

The bombs that the SAAF use in exercise also differs from operational weapons. On real operational targets they get to take the expensive Pre-frag bombs out of storage. Those things make a mess out of anything other than a tank.
We had a big fuel air bomb in testing that was very impressive, but the funding dried up. Would have worked well on insurgents.

Stephandeswardt:
Also we need to stop bombing with 250kg bombs.....the minimum for bombing runs should be 500kg bombs......sometimes when the airforce shows bombing runs and I see vehicles driving off.....I wonder if staffing by aircraft cannons and rockets aren't more effective. ...
