True talk bro.

All I want to see is super tucano, Jf17/JF17B and the SU30. I don't care about the price as long as we can have them.

I just want to see improvement.

The British and others feel the same way about F35.

Afghanistan isn't the only country to purchase these aircraft. There are many non U.S aligned countries that have purchased them, with similar packages as Nigeria, for way less money. It's a rip off, simple. So there's no true talk in what he said.

The only true talk is your post..."I don't care about the price as long as we have them". That's an honest statement.

Even the F35 is a rip off and you still have British, Australians, Israeli, etc buying them.

I know Ghana, Mali and some other countries that bought tucano but not sure of the package that comes with it.

This is a lie.
Please mention the country that has our package apart from Brazil, Iraq and Afghanistan. Iraq and Afghanistan are in the same boat. There is local presence and existing support US military infrastructure . Brazil is the owner/ developer of the aircraft.
Most Nigerians don't understand this notion that so e military aircraft are "flying networked sensors " in a network of systems. It is not just engine, airframe and bombs.

Please go and watch all successful NAF strikes on Boko Harem again. Usually at least three planes or two planes and one uav would be involved : one detecting, another engaging and the last one assessing. This is the new way of doing this. The Super Tucano can do all these within same platform just like the chopper MI 35

Gripen contract was signed in 1999. "Have taken into account inflation?" No!

Afghanistan is not paying for anything, the US is. An American company supplying an American client, the contract will not be the same as that of Nigeria.

The Afghans will use existing American infrastructure in Afghanistan, they also have available to them existing American munitions, training personnel and aircraft mechanics, lowering cost.

What the amount of munition NAF is going for, the number of personnel to be trained and infrastructure to support the Tucanos. What part of the country that infrastructure is to be set-up also could affect the Price.

For 30years minimum, that's a good contract. NAF's Aloha jets have been in the air close to 37 years, how much do you think has been spent so far?
-True, but inflation has average around 6% since 1999.....so it wouldn't make material difference.

- Don't you have existing infrastructure already?? surely the same hangers used to house the alphas can also house the Tucano?? No

- I agree other factors to play a role in the price.

Lastly what we can agree on is NAF will be receiving a very very capable platform......IMO the price is just to much, but as i said its just my opinion.

P.S when we ever have a debate again about the Gripen and the price we paid for it, the above will be held against you grin grin grin grin

Please what are the other non US aligned contries that have purchased this aircrafts with similar packages?

Because the only non US aligned countries I know of
Acquired these aircrafts from Brazil, how can you prove Brazil offer the same packages as what Nigeria is getting.

Maybe everyone is trying to buy the F35 for a reason...

It's only a "rip off" because you are comparing a limited production run to development costs

Even with its $1 trillion development overrun, it will work out to be the cheapest fighter the US has produced in its entire history

Have you all thought of the possibility of bht using drones and observing troop movements.......and might not even be insider information, I noticed most of you here just come and banter words and hardly do any in depth analysis. ........ and I must say the defence information office Isnt suited for that public relations job..... I think what army logistic is going is buying different armoured products from different suppliers and rotating them.....example seems the bmp 1 has no been seen often, it will get to another period they will be well used and another vehicle type retired for major overhauls, it guarantees that no supplier can hold us to ransom. ....but all very expensive, but it's what we suffer for a weak industrial based country

Bokoharam using drone ? That's going to be a quadcopter at maximum. Which means the Shiit would have been detected a very long time ago.

Detect it how? Have you ever seen that thing fly in real life?it's super quiet and stealthy when it quite high....and what's to tell the Nigerianext soldiers it isn't one of theirs? Little careful deductions like this is what is lacking in our officer corps.....their mindset is what ever the big Ogas want is what they do.....

Sir if BHTs had such capabilities don’t you think they’d display it in their propaganda videos??
Similar to how ISIS releases videos of its drones stalking Iraqi troops. Sometimes dropping grenades in the process.

For BHTs to carry out any effective surveillance of troops movements wouldn’t they need drones with high endurance (at least several hours) and range ? You know, considering how large the AOR is.

In terms of aviation crashes, June is not old news. Its only August undecided. The investigation is probably still on going. Plus the crash in Bangladesh, it raises eyebrows.

The Russians aren't paying you, there's no need to defend them. They could have been building planes for the past 500 years, but if there's something wrong somewhere in the design or systems, they'll simply fall out the sky regardless.

This is a problem underestimating a ragtag force that has wag War against the biggest economy in Africa. ....the day you understand that bht has foreign input from other countries and terror organisations is the day we start advancing at a faster pace in these campaign.....the bht that builds rockets, and so on.....might be smart enough to know that this trump card can't be shown to the armed forces. ....do you know how easy it is for them to get these quadcopter? .and from what distance it can be operated.

Also we need to stop bombing with 250kg bombs.....the minimum for bombing runs should be 500kg bombs......sometimes when the airforce shows bombing runs and I see vehicles driving off.....I wonder if staffing by aircraft cannons and rockets aren't more effective. ...
