Hello VO,

My B1/B2 visa was approved recently. However, at the time of filing the form DS 160, I indicated that I will be entering the United States through Philadelphia which is the closest airport to my family. Once the visa was approved, I soon found out air tickets for that route are overly expensive. On the other hand, air tickets to JFK, New York are much more affordable. I intend to purchase the affordable ticket for the Lagos - New York route. The plan is to go by Greyhound Bus from New York to Delaware and I intend to purchase the Greyhound ticket even before leaving Nigeria.
Now my questions are:
1. Will this create serious problem for me at the POE?
2. Do I need to write the US embassy in Nigeria about this turn of events necessitating change of travelling route?
3. Should I just stick to the initial travel plan indicated on my DS 160 being my first time of travel to the United States?

Thanks.

NB: I have a pending IV petition.

So long as (1) you are going to the same program at the same school and (2) you have a new I-20 to bring with you to the POE you should be fine with your current visa.

Good day VO
I was denied B2visa this morning under section 214b. I have read through the slip and discovered its for those who don't have strong ties to Nigeria that's applicable to.
I have been working in Federal government establishment for the past 11years, am married with kids and I earn a six digit salary and same thing with my spouse. I read that I can reapply if situation changes. What do you think I need to change.
NB I was invited by my uncle for his master graduation cceremony coming up in August 31st.

Hello goodman31. The 214b section of US immigration law is covers a wide range of potential ineligibilities, not just home ties. We can not advise you to make life changes for the purposes of a visa application. You may apply again, and if you do, be prepared to provide new information in support of your application, otherwise the result is likely to be the same.

Hello Hadidi09. We very rarely look at marriage documents. If you consider yourself to be married and present yourself as such, we too will consider you to be married. If there is a contradiction in how you and your partner/spouse present yourselves in interviews and application forms, then that will invite closer scrutiny.

Dear VO(AbujaNIV),

I paid visa fees with cash at GTBank and I’ve just submitted our(me&wife) DS-160 application and went on to the appointment site. Since I have a previous profile used to schedule our appointment in 2015, I just edited the information with the new Application ID, answered the questions, input the receipt no from recent GTB visa fee payment, and we both are qualified for Interview Waiver Program(dropbox).

However, on our dropbox confirmation letter, I noticed that the UID numbers is the same as the ones we used in 2015 to obtain our expiring visas. Although the receipt no from the visa payment I made few days ago is also listed, I am a bit concerned as to why the UID is the same as the old one?

Please enlighten me VO, incase this is a mistake on my part and there’s any step I need to take to rectify this before I submt at DHL.

Thanks always.

Hello Hadidi09. It sounds like you were not completely forthright about your purpose of travel. Visa officers are not obligated to ask every applicant if they are pregnant and planning on giving birth in the US. Applicants are, however, obligated to announce such intentions at the visa interview and the border.

Hello house,
My wife attended usa interview last week Thurs, 10 Aug 2017, she's issued d visa and told to come after 3 working days, when she got to the pick up centre, she was told that her application is under Administrative Processing. We did birth visa for her. Altho, she was issued visa around June but was deported at the Port of Entry on d ground that she hasnt paid d hospital bills, when she got to naija, we paid all d bills and reapplied. The interview was successful but the pick up is now the issue. Pls any Visa Officer around, do you think that my wife will still meet up the appointment? Besides, she's heavily pregnant and has just a few months left. How long do u think the AP would take? How can we hasten up their AP? As we speak, her flight ticket has been bought against 17 Aug.

Thanks brothers

If you have already been interviewed and issued a visa then you can't add them to your appointment. As you get to to the end of the DS160 for the first of your family members who is now applying you can add additional family members to that profile.

Hello pastoromo -

We cannot give advice as to how you should present information in an interview other than to advise you to tell the truth. How you choose to demonstrate your ties to Nigeria is up to you.
