if Victor Moses is there, I honestly don't see the need for Kayode undecided, all these ones about pace and dribbling on counter, that's Musa's forte.

The list is fine IMO, it's not like we are missing one prolific goal scorer.

He he he he. You have a point.

My preliminary starting eleven. There will be fluctuations in my list as camping reports filter in. Nwakeme got the nod ahead of Ighalo because of his skills and pace which I feel is a critical factor to break down the Camerounians.

S. Moses also breaks in over Iwobi based on the same criteria. He just needs to focus on working with his team mates. Iwobi needs to do lots of stamina training if he is to make it with the team. Based on stamina, speed and skills, Simon gets the nod.

Aina comes in based on his training with Chelsea and getting the nod to play under Conte. That is a big plus.

Alampasu gets my nod due to previous reports of his performance in camp. But, Ezenwa is a huge challenge.

Onazi dropped because of the gaps he left in the last game.

You with this your Alampasu sef. OK o.

Nwaekeme: I don't see him starting. He may be introduced later in the game depending on how the game is progressing. Iheanacho is favorite to start as CF.

Mikel: We need his creativity more in a more advanced position like the AM. He is favorite to start in that position.

Onazi and Ndidi: Likely to swap between positions they played in the last game.

Aina: I don't know whether Rohr can trust him enough to start at RB considering also Awaziem's outing in the last game.
Aina stands a good chance but let Rohr decide.

Alampasu: Akpeyi is favorite to start.

Kayode not even on the standby list? That's quite chilling. A sucker punch to this list.
I have this feeling he will open his goal account this week in the La Liga, if and when this happens, Gernot Rohr and the Nff technical committee will look quite silly.

Why is nobody complaining about Victor Osimhen being excluded? I thought we wanted young light weight players to run the Camerounians to the ground.

It's high time people get to understand and live with the fact that Aluko is not on the radars of the national team handlers. Sad but true

Finally, I see we are one defender short. 7 defenders instead of 8 leaves the list one CB short. Since this game is a double header in quick succession, if we loose either of Ekong or Balogun in the first leg, we will be travelling to Yaounde with no extra CB on the bench.
I know Ndidi can fill in there but.... God help us

Very early review and revision of the list. Simon Moses out for Musa. Musa comes in because of his speed and directness. Unlike Simon Moses who delays some times when he is with the ball, Musa's direct run into the gaps of the defence gives Mikel good options to deliver accurate defense splitting balls.

V. Moses also offers this.

So Musa takes the left midfield role.

Stay tuned for more updates.

I see you're no longer maintaining your hard line stance on Kelechi starting as the top striker come rain, come sun. I wonder why it finally took you one year to see the light.

I see you omitted Iwobi from your list and instead had Nwakaeme as centre forward. You're no longer backing your argument of having light weight players running riots on the Camerounians.

This tells me that you say most things you say, just for the shock value. You know the truth but in a fetish kind of way, you thrive on causing commotion and arguments. That's the way you function.

I'm totally in love with this list but I will still point out that I am really bothered about our goalkeeping aspect.
for me it is a 4-2-3-1 formation

ighalo (CF)

V.Moses (Lwf) Iheanacho(Amf/SS) Musa(Rwf)

Mikel(Cmf) Onazi(Dmf)

Echiegile (Lb) Leon(Cb) Ekon(Cb) Shehu (Rb)

Akpeyi(Gk)

Subs: 1.Etebo for Iheanacho
( Mikel moves to the Amf)
2.Ndidi for onazi
3. Nwaekeme for Ighalo

But also considering the physicality of the Cameroonian Etebo might Start in place of Iheanacho and Mikel will then play The Amf position.
with this formation, if the team is clinical in front of Goal and also defend as a unit which is the key ingredient of this formation. I see no reason why that match will not end 3-0 in favour of the super eagles. Because looking at this my set up all I see is goal.. goal... goal....

so you are willing to sacrifice Etebo? We will never learn at all. forget the Mikel story, deploying Etebo as a CMF was one of the reasons why we defeated Algeria. Mikel isn't 25, even when he was 25 he can't run the entire midfield all alone because he does not have the pace, in that match you could see Etebo jus about everywhere but some reason we want to sacrifice Etebo all because we must have Nacho in the AMF role. sentiment is the problem we will always have

We have had exceptional and very gifted one footed players. Most recently, Messi. If Nacho can perfect his left foot, he can still make a big impact. I feel he is too old to start learning how to use his right foot. He should keep perfecting his left.

Nice one.

Thats not true. Its never too late to work on the use of his right foot. I remember prior to the atlanta 96 Olympic games, Kanu Nwankwo was only comfortable using his right foot. In one of our home matches, he struggled with taking shots from his left which the commentator made observations about. At the Olympic games, the 4th goal for Nigeria was scored by Kanu with a powerful left foot drive. He didnt have to get it on his comfort right.

What is stopping him(Iheanacho) from private training to strengthen his right foot. It is a known fact that what you give attention to becomes part of you. He needs to work hard. Period. Balls wont always fall on his left foot. sometimes, a timeous use of the right foot may be all the difference needed to change the color of a game.

In my books, when scouting, all forwards need to be able to use both feet very well. Wingers too. That way, you have all round options. You get to deploy players to various positions at will.

I use to be a trustee for a church in the UK. All churches have to be registered charities once they recieve any money. Some building were donated by well meaning individuals.

The G.O. a Bishop would use the church funds like his personal property contrary to British law. He then sold without the knowledge of the trustees one of the buildings in the Church.

He then asked me to forge the minutes of the trustees and say we agreed to sell the property. Nobody wanted to challenge him or even think that what he was doing was criminal.

I simply resigned and left them all too do what they do.

By the way the Bishop is a Nigerian. We have a working system a charities commission that you submit your yearly accounts too. Etc. I had requested for the accounts but never ever was allowed to see the accounts I am supposed to approve and consent too.

Even in the UK our spots don't change and that is in a church.

But still..... you quit the job. What DNA was running in you then? I repeat, it is the system. The system enabled him to use his position as a bishop for his own selfish gains. If there was a fool proof system where accountability and transparency are measures put in place , then it wont be easy to do all the stunts he pulled.

He he he he. You have a point.

there is no point there. so what if we have two super dribbles on the same team? forget about the dribbling for a minute, Kayode is the best we have in the forward position when it comes pressing the opposing defenders, I see you understand that Mikel has to start as the AMF, we agree on that but that means we will need a CF WHO CAN PRESS ALONE AND A CMF WHO CAN PRESS FOR TWO. we saw just how well nacho pressed in the last game, forget the golden boy tag when Renato Sanchez stopped performing, Portugal quickly changed him, that's the thing about football, if you are relevant you come, if not you go.

back to the primary matter though, playing Onazi as the CMF will not work. let me just leave it there.

Then talking about the list. remove our starting eleven, do we still have another threat on the bench? if Musa plays like I know he will, is it Moses Simon that will come on when you are looking for a goal? or will Iwobi be brought on when we need a goal? why is Onyekuru on standby? look at that list of midfielders again, we have four DMFs vying for one spot, only two bona fide CMFs(Etebo and Mikel) and factually no authentic AMF just some strikers and wingers who can play that position on a good day(Iwobi and Iheanacho, both not really that good in that position, I guess you know this and that is why you want Mikel to start there) so now we only have three wingers, one of them will just continue dribbling without any end product and these are the players we are taking to a double header, one injury and this team is gone. I understand that this is a top match but balance should be maintained, we have young wingers everywhere who could at least make up the number of wingers to about four or five(since we are playing a formation that depends a lot on our movement on the wings)

Etebo is best suited in the Cmf position, there is no space for him even in the Amf role, he is not as fast as musa or v Moses. We need our wingers to be very fast for this match because counter attack is one area we can use to outdo the Cameroonians and currently they are two fastest players in this team.

You know why I don't have issues with Kayode's exclusion? He is not a starter.

Iheanacho is likely to start. Why I feel Rohr gave Ighalo and Nwaekeme the nod ahead of Kayode is what if the game really goes physical that we need a bully of a striker to create havoc? Kayode is not much different from Iheanacho I terms of build so this is where Rohr may introduce Nwaekeme or Ighalo to play as CF and Iheanacho goes to SS.

As per your stance on Onazi I am not surprised grin

And your comment on lack of "young wingers" on the substitute bench. First let me ask, are Iwobi, Simon, and Etebo not young wingers/AMs. Ow! these ones are too old now or what? You want to flood the team with wingers that do not have any form of international experience.

Henry Onyekuru for now deserves the spot he got as a stand-by. The coach obviously saw him in the France Camp and if he feels Iwobi, Simon, Moses, Musa and Etebo are ahead of him then so be it. I am with him on that one.

you have to subtract Etebo from your wingers because I see him starting this game as the CMF, I intend to see the same set of players that played against Algeria in this game as well maybe except for Iwobi. so that brings me back to my question, what if we are chasing this game? will you introduce Iwobi when you are chasing a game? ok let's say you sub in Nwaekeme who thrives on crosses, that means you now need good deliveries from either side will you sub in Iwobi who does not cross the ball at all? or will you sub in Moses Simon who cannot cross to save his life? We have a plan B striker but we do not have plan B wingers at all.if two people get injured in our team, we will relive the 2010 world cup all over again where we didn't have any left back left. IMO the number of DMFs are too much. I am not looking for young wingers, I am looking for extra wingers, if Obasi is that extra winger I do not mind but we are well short in that department. had it been Kayode was invited at least you have a back up striker as well as a back up winger, but can Ighalo or Nwakaeme play on the wings? if you have those two players on the bench it's not much different from having just one of them on the bench

From 2013 to 2016 Aluko played in the premiership he chose to go and play good technical food in a top team in the Championship with Fulham.

So what happened to calling him when he was in the premiership. Aluko is an out and out victim of Nigerian factor. Having been brought to expect probity, integrity and professionalism. He did not understand that he needed to settle and show appreciation to the powers that be in the NFF.

That is why he is not selected.

Exactly sir and i think this weekend is the perfect opportunity for him to cement his place as Roma's right back.Peres the starting RB went off injured in their last game and wont be back until late september while Nura is the only other recognised right back in the squad.Roma's next game is against Inter Milan and the coach might not fancy throwing him in the deep end with him ending up playing against Ivan Perisic the deadly Man United target who plays LW for Inter but i think if he works hard in training and he can convince the coach with his performance then he might find himself starting against Milan and if he impresses against Perisic he can push Peres down the pecking order.Remember he is already a fan's favourite in the club which further enhances his chances.

I can not start pointing out how poor Kanu's left foot was but I prefer a perfect left foot to an average double foot. Maradona was one footed but very exceptional with it. Same with Messi. At this age, I will not advice Nacho to start working on right foot but working on doing more exceptional things with his left.

Double foot should have been done at a young age. That is like advising Messi at 21 to start working on his right.

By the way, Kanu was about 19 - 20 years in Atlanta. By then his left foot was strong when he hit that shot. That is the same age Nacho is. As far as I am concerned, it is late for that.

This tells me that you say most things you say just for the shock value. You know the truth but in a fetish kind of way, you thrive on causing commotion and arguments. That's the way you function.

Nwakeme is up there because of speed, skill and creativity. That is what I have always called for. So, I wonder your problem. You were talking about a big man upfront to lob long balls to. Which to me is a no and I have not changed my stance.

So please, what is the problem?

Nwaekeme: I don't see him starting. He may be introduced later in the game depending on how the game is progressing. Iheanacho is favorite to start as CF.

Mikel: We need his creativity more in a more advanced position like the AM. He is favorite to start in that position.

Onazi and Ndidi: Likely to swap between positions they played in the last game.

Aina: I don't know whether Rohr can trust him enough to start at RB considering also Awaziem's outing in the last game.
Aina stands a good chance but let Rohr decide.

Alampasu: Akpeyi is favorite to start.

Nice.

I lack trust in Akpeyi and Onazi.

If Nacho plays ahead and Mikel plays behind him, then I will opt for Agu over Onazi. I just have nightmares thinking of the gaps he leaves. Especially after complaining about the same thing for years.

I feel Agu will do a better job shielding the defence but camping reports will give us more insights to what we will expect.

You want to risk with an untested Agu in a match of this calibre. I would rather We played Etebo in that CM position than Agu. No room for wild experiments.
