The Keyboard could be said to be an instrument which is made up of white and black keys for example : the harpsichord, the melodion accordion etc. With this definition I wouldn't want to say a piano is a keyboard, I feel a piano is a gorgeous and authentic instrument with keyboard clones everywhere lol. Anyway, you have an idea of the piano and keyboard as well. Join the piano lessons online for adult beginners , click on link to learn more.

As brief as possible; Jazz is a genre of music which is synonymous to improvisation. cool . playing on the go, though you got to learn a few scales and you are good to go. mainly the blues scale for the start. grin

Hello guys, I've been playing for months now and I've decided to do everything now by ear but I've been having hard time... I don't know why I cannot know the exact chord played in a song, for scales I tends to get them cos I slow the music to the point I could hear everything then transcribe.... I want to ask, what should I do to be able to know chords I hear

the trick to be able to pick chords by ear is done by either theory or by ear, by theory e.g you hear a bass line Re, Soh... by theory, the next chord should be a diatonic which is the 1. that's that, by ear, where a chord is played, the easiest note you would hear is the the last note the finger of the pianist touched, that should be the easiest to hear, from there, you use concentration and listen close, you will hear other notes, a lot actually, but you have to be sure it's the one the lead pianist is playing especially in cases where there are more than one auxiliary pianist. cheers

Thanks much, I did some research read about Jazz on Wikipedia, they played a sample for me and it sounded like Classicals,
Was it Jazz those classical composers were using to create this Classical hits.
Because according to my findings Jazz is characterized by improvisation and I guess that's one of the main characteristics of Classicals.
I don't know sha but help me shed more light on it thanks

yes it's long when you start but as You go on, you'll discover there are some "popular " chords which means a lot of chords in songs are repeated, so if you've heard such chord before, it shouldn't be difficult for you to pick it out

After getting done with the positioning of your hand on the piano, the next thing is to let your fingers get acquainted to movement on the piano. (This should be a daily exercise.) Now we are going to number your fingers thus : 1-thumb 2-pointer 3-middle finger 4-ring finger 5-little finger (this applies to both left hand (LH) and right hand (RH).

It is usually characterized by play of instruments, without singing.

Not true at all. There are even singers called Jazz singers, so there is a lot of singing in Jazz too. D blue scale, and other exotic scales is what makes up jazz music. While major music is mainly base on major , minor scales and very rarely chromatic scale, Jazz music bases its foundation on the blue scale, ,7th chords and modes like the myxolydian mode etc. Jazz is a lot of fun as u can incorporate it even to ur music improvisation and church playing.

@ MrBigiman, The point being made: many a time, the instruments do the "singing", not necessarily saying it is in all cases.

while playing chord on a key, I discovered that its correspond to another different chord in two or more key.
