Web development is greatly undermined in Nigeria.

Everybody thinks that web development is basically just downloading templates and affixing php or python functionalities however they like.

Full stack developers earn between 150 to 350. Unrefined web developers earn little. If you want to enroll for a six months web development course make sure you put your nose to the grindstone and work like hell. Stay hungry for the web knowledge and you'll earn the right amount. It is definitely worth it.

And while learning I'd suggest you get a good grasp of JavaScript... There is a whole lot about that language... smiley smiley Wish you success...

i'll advice going to IT schools to learn coding is not a good idea . for stuffs like networking sha you can because you'll have access to some equipments which you really need i feel ..i did aptech web design thou i had already bin playing with html css and Jscript so i blend in really well and the staffs thought i was sharp but it was because i had exprience thats to tell you that their regurlar students were lagging i was part time and to be honest i went there thinking i'll be taught advanced stuffs my issue was manipulating DOMs with jscript which i later learnt on sololearn may God bless the creator if i only i took the app seriously i would have done better since but i was just fantacizing about aptech and Niit..i met a partime java student who has been there for 5 months learming java meanwhile their regular students have done a lot of chapters in a week and at the end they couldnt even run a javac the partime student is their tutor he learned by downloading videos and not the powerpoint they will be reading to you guys....seriosly its just a crash course where you'll learn lots of stuffs in a brief moment and at the end cant print hello world so save that money if you wanna learn software developing use it to buy data and go to online schools like freecodecamp and codecademy like i did they have a facebook commumity where people who have faced your problem or facing will be there to help not to forget the chat community on the site itself
i am currently designing a website for a student who did webdesign in their first semester at aptech
This is serious bull. Is NIIT/aptech so poor? A part-time student teaching the students!!
smh. It's serious man. We need feedback like this on all these i.t schools.

Hi all,
I have a site that the designer built on WordPress, it has some limitations and now I want to add some features myself. I want the following features:
1. Add social icon like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp etc
2. Subscription Form
3. Recent Posts: this should show the title of all my recent posts.
Thank you. I have basic knowledge of HTML which I am still learning. But I don't really know much about WordPress.

Currently i am learning in web development and programming. But the course i study in school does not relate with computers, can i get a job with my knowledge or do i still require to get a degree on a computer related course. Cos when i graduate i want to be a full time computer programmer and web developer

You don't need to attend any school to be a geek. I am a web and software developer using c# which I self thought myself. Though I have not been doing project for client but I have nothing less than 5 software management systems I have single handedly built with good GUI.

I have it in mind to acquire certificates because if you want to be employ, IT firms will first use certification to filter the applicants before testing what you can do.

Acquiring a certification is very important if you wish to be employed in a good firm. For me am trying to acquire Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) both in software and web development, then acquire Microsoft Certified Solution Associate (MCSA) both from Microsoft themselves.

In nutshell, you don't need certificate if you want to establish and you don't need employment.

In my view, learning both Microsoft excel and having a deeper understanding of your operating system might serve you better for now.

Google the word macro for windows automation - they are used for automating tasks on operating systems. And finally, MS excel's quite capable for virtually any calculation you have.

Now I understand your needs a little better.

For web design you'll need a server language like php, java, asp.net, ruby on rails, python, Perl, node.js, Go... They are called server side languages.

Then for interactivity i.e. To do slideshow, pop ups, perform actions without refresh (like Facebook, Gmail, outlook...) you'll use Javascript. Javascript's the client-side language for the web.

If you want automate tasks on your browser, you'll use macros.

For instance, I worked as a digital marketer for a while. We had over a thousand ads on jiji. However the boss didn't want to pay. So every 3-4 days we'll have to click the renew button for 1000 ads on sluggish office internet!

Other staff got tired and left it for me. After a few hours of mindless clicking, I used macros to automate this brain sapping job.

Do you have another question?

I'm not going to lie to you. It's not going to be easy but it's highly worth the effort.

You can get programming eBooks, read articles, watch YouTube tutorial videos, go to IT training centers or buy video courses. It's up to you.

Your job might not allow you much time to learn - this will lengthen your learning duration.

If you decide to go for training, ask to see people they've trained. Ask them what they've learned, what they can create, and most importantly, find out if the trainer just handed them a giant pile of textbooks. You don't want to end up with a nice but useless certificate.

There are millions of free programming videos on YouTube - all you need is internet data. You won't need to spend a dime to learn through this route.

Finally, I've got many simplified - step-by-step video courses by white tutors. You'll be able to ask them questions. And also get a certificate on completion. If you want this, PM me.
