hello guys , please can i just leave the amount to be debited for t-bill or i need to have the whole funds in my acct?.
for instance if i am buying t-bill of 600k for 365days at 17%. do i have to leave upto 600k in the acct or just 498k/500k
The bank will want you to have the 600k in your account. After the debit of 500k, then you can have access to the interest.

Oga Emma,

We are all here to take advantage of whatever knowledge we can get to improve our investment skills. Let us not be too uptight with our comments. You have been very generous on this Forum and many like me owe you many thanks. Please whenever you have any valuable contributions, PLEASE, PLEASE share it. The rule were made for us and not us for the rule. This whole fear of derailing thread is becoming a stumbling block. The Primary Thread is INVESTMENT. That is the way I understand it. It even sounds monotonous when we limit ourselves too strictly discussing nothing but same thing over and over and over again. Some digression and small quarrelling, do help to bring the better part of some of us grin grin grin

Please Oga Emma, if you have the time, share your experience as you have indicated.

Waiting, along with others too.

Cheers grin grin
Bros, am really on the same page with you on this. I couldn't have said it any better jhoor

Chief, I would advise you port your cash to either Stanbic or FBN, if you still intend investing via banks. Regards
Is this advice still valid?

Or are there people on here investing with GTB successfully ?

If i may say my opinion about above, it's not a good buy at all as people have been getting better rates even on very short tenors and next week auction for both 182 and 364days tenors are even not likely to be that low. To me, it's not a good buy I am sorry to say and my you, it's only my opinion
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ugoelvis1(m): 11:38am On Oct 11, 2017
Please I am made to understand that investing on both primary and secondary market is viable. But which is better or profitable? My 364 days bid failed on the last 4th Oct with my money returned after two weeks my money was deducted. I intends investing on the secondary instead of waiting next bid date. Hope no fuss with secondary mkt
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Kemade2007(f): 1:02pm On Oct 11, 2017
Na wa for Stanbic o. I went to the bank yesterday for secondary market but not successful because they didn't respond the mail in time. So the guy in charge gave me his number to call him around 9am ds morning that the market opens 10am and close 1pm. I called him this morning as he said but he told me to call back in an hours time to remind him. After an hour, I started calling him for like 6to7 times bt he didn't pick my calls. Then I decided to visit the bank, on getting there I started action bt he told me he was sorry .
To my issues, he sent mail immediately bt no response again for more than 1hr. He called no response, so I started to act again like 'what is the name of the lady that suppose to reply you ' he said "Anita " then I brought my phone out pressing nothing and he said do u want to report her bt I didn't reply him.
Immeadialy he told me the mall is here because he thought I wanted to report the lady. In my opinion, he has received the mail but just wanted to delay me again today until I will be fed up.
Though no debit yet just coming out of the bank

Considering the future of government fixed income investment, I think you got a deal.

From what one of my brokers sent to me, the next bid for federal govt bonds are sub 13%.

By the time the govt request for $5.5 billion euro bonds is approved by Senate, sub 10% return by Treasury Bills will be a reality. Govt will pay maximum of 6% on the euro bonds.

The seller bought the Treasury Bills about 24 days ago, i guess he bought at 15%

Hence the 14% secondary market return....

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 1:29pm On Oct 11, 2017
A major chunk of proceeds from the euro bond will be used to liquidate the Treasury Bills.

By the time the current juicy Treasury Bills of 16% to 18% mature, the return on the toll over will be lower.

I think this will give opportunity to the private sector to raise funds in the debt or equity markets.

There will be renewed interest in commercial papers, corporate bonds and right issues or public offerings.

Even 24days ago, at the Primary market was higher than 15.7%. Even if it was 15% , the question was "is it a good buy? And the answer is simply NO because people got higher rates even for 200+ tenors

Do you have savings or current account with Zenith before they sell to you?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TONY56: 3:20pm On Oct 11, 2017
In determining whether a secondary market is good or bad, the considerations are the prevailing Primary market rates and the available secondary market offers and tenor. No consideration is given to when or the rate at which the seller bought it. That's why most people lose when they decide to sell off and others even gain like in the case of the guy who bought at 17% about 120days ago and sold at 15.4%.

If the guy who sold the 338day tenor had no buyer, he would have been forced to go up to even 16% or more but lucky he was that he got someone to buy for 14%.

However, I do appreciate that @emmanuelewumi was trying to avoid discouraging @Mascotlawman because ot can not be reversed but I would not do that so that he too can learn from that mistake.
