Except for finances, i don't think there will be any problems since the wife will be there to care for the kid. The only challenge i think could crop up is the increased cost of living. If that is covered, he is good to go. I for one wouldn't want to leave my family behind for such trip.

I hope you understand that my discussion is about academic success which is what makes you remain on student visa? Do you think that VOs don't consider how likely it is for a student to complete his studies before issuing a student visa? At the point you raised - finance, what would be his home tie if all of them show up at the embassy because one of the family members got admission? And how does he want to care for the family when he and his F2 family are not allowed to work as non immigrants for the duration of his studies? GA employment is just a petite job that can hardly support you in most cases.

This kind of "trip" is to come to U.S solely to study and one must achieve academic success to continue to be on status. Like I said, it's his call, he should do whatever pleases him.

Please house, I applied for and gained admission in Statistical Analysis, Computing and Modelling at TAMUK, but I-20 came bearing MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS as my Major. Am a bit confused. Though have written the school and from their response, they said SACM was not found in the SEVIS blablabla so they chose the one closest to it being MATHS AND STAT. My question now is, when I go to the embassy, WHAT DO I ANSWER THEM THAT AM GOING TO STUDY and WHAT DO I ALSO FILL IN MY DS160?

QUick response wud help me as I wan book interview tonight. Thank Uq

Exactly my take oooo

it takes a second to direct him here ....the best way to learn is to learn from the source .

what the point asking questions on his behalf (especially asking for step by step) and then the response you forward it to him when you can come here himself. If he really serious and wants to learn then he needs to be here .

This site is rich with information on student visa . Pls note that! grin

Hello house,
A quick question, I’m in a dilemma as to which embassy to go Lagos or Abuja? Read through and noticed quite a number of users advice against going to Abuja because it seems the general consensus is that it’s tougher getting approved... Any particular insights as to why this is so.
Your inputs will go a long way and is much appreciated.

There are no right or wrong answers. ...someone here last fall went with his whole family at once for the interview . The wife was working though and she wanted the F2 just for visting if needed . Shortly after or almost immediately they decided they didnt want to split the family and all went together

The F2 wife and child offcourse is not working and just been together as a family. it worked out for them as they felt financially they could afford it but might not work out for others

RA is better. 1) In most cases it pays more but the difference is not that much 2)If the RA is related to your research, You get to start working on your research ontime instead of proctoring exams and teaching. Trust me you don't want to have lab reports waiting for you on your table. On the otherhand, TA is better than None!

What do you mean by lucrative after post graduate studies? Do you mean courses that easily get jobs or courses that companies are willing to sponsor the visas of their graduates? If it's the latter, in my own small experience, you stand the best chance with the medical and health field and probably engineering (computer, Electrical, industrial and maybe Chemical mostly). But of course, everyone's situation is different but that social media something, I'm not sure about it. This is my opinion and what I have observed. But it may help to sample that of others.

Also, don't patronize agents. You should write GRE. IELTS was cheaper when I wrote mine last year and I think it's easier than TOEFL. Again, this is my opinion. I wish you all the best.

@Justwise,
Thank you so much for the feedback.
How can one pay back Medicaid? As I have tried severally to no avail. Attempt to get information via email has proved abortive.

Please why is no one responding to my above question? It's not fair oh

See eh, one thing I do know about visiting the US for childbirth is that you should be able to afford all medical expenses related to the delivery and not depend on medicaid here in the US for part or most of your expenses, or else you may be found ineligible for future B1/B2 visa renewal should you want to re-enter again. That being said, you should be looking at areas here where childbirth is quite affordable for international pregnant women, and co-incidentally El Paso in Texas happens to be number 1 or 2 lately for many foreign Nigerian pregnant women. Follow the link justwise for more information. Good luck.

thanks bro 4 ur prompt response......its for my masters (postgraduate) i studied mass communication with cgpa 3.63 graduated 2014 n nysc 2015/2016.i learnt that there are courses that are very lucrative after postgraduate studies in d us i dnt no if my field falls into dat category was looking at social media or marketing communication though, please if it wont lead to better opportunities after studies advice me on which route 2 follow once again thank u.

In terms of lucrative jobs, STEM courses (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) are the very lucrative jobs here in the US. I can't say this enough. These are courses that qualify you for H1B work visa sponsorship should you need one after graduation. Most arts courses do not qualify for H1B sponsorship. The full list of STEM courses can be found here:

https://www.ice.gov/sites/default/files/documents/Document/2016/stem-list.pdf

Check out the list to see which ones closely relate to mass communication for your master's degree. Since you want to study a lucrative course for your masters, the closest possible one I could find on that list are economics/econometrics, management science, business statistics, etc. Why not go for any of those? Remember, it is not just coming to America to study anyhow course, you need to study a course that creates for you a solid career in the long run.

Finally, NEVER use an agent for anything. This has been reiterated infinitesimally on this forum that it is beginning to sound like a cliche. You do NOT need them for anything. Everything you can do for yourself and everything you need you can get from just being a member of this forum. Follow this thread daily, read and act and in as little as 3 months you would know just as much as your average agent, if not more.
