She lives half of her life there, her husband is a citizen, her kids will eventually be affected by whatever decisions the president of that country makes. She pays her taxes to the US govt. Does she have a right to write what she did? ABSOLUTELY. She's free to. Whether wrong or right, she is. That doesn't make her "stupid". And before you start preaching and judging why she isn't using her talent to fight for NIGERIA, (which I think she has in her little way), ask yourself this question, HAVE YOU FOUGHT FOR NIGERIA in your own little way? Before you cast stones.... Think. SSBN: |

SSBN:How do you know she is not a citizen? Isn't she married to an American? And who told you that you cannot address racism when you live abroad? The people who liked your comment are all id.iots for not using their brains. |

lastempero:Nigeria has not offered her anything. You want her to come to Nigeria and start suffering politics of ethnicism. That would be stupid on her part. You already have enough people in Nigeria that can do the Job. |

Racism is a natural thing, a reason to dislike other humans is something is something which we are always consciously and unconsciously on the look out for. |

Rosskii:don't mind the idiot, even if he's too lazy to do research, rihanna's american oxygen song says it all. The video portrays the struggles and victimizations the blacks have gone through in the States. Most black American celebs and even some white ones hate this fucking president. Yet, some fools gonna come here and be typing nonsense. |

The OP is not very smart. Like I said before on a separate thread, Race is everything in America. It got Obama and Trump elected. Even chimamanda said during a BBC hard talk, that until she got to America she had no idea what racial politics is and its systemic entrenchment. Now she is more enlightened and exposed. It would be foolishness to criticize when you have not walked in her shoes as a Black resident in America regardless of her status as one of America's leading female intellectual.. Race is everything in America. And everybody is talking about it from the smartest to the dumbest in America. |

lastempero:which foundation? So after her first degree, what else? How many millions of Nigerians have their first degrees and are roaming aimlessly in Nigeria. She got out of Nigeria into a first world country and showed them her talent that would have been wasted in Nigeria. Nigeria had zero impact on her success story. |

DarkRebel69:I never fail to admire dexterity in writing when I see it. I like how you write and the vivid adjectives you use to express your thoughts. By the way, Orwell's '1984' is my favorite work of literature till this very day. Genius doesn't even begin to describe his panache and his method and I try to model myself to write like him. Orwell once said that when writing you should avoid words or phrases which one occasionally sees in print and other media. Basically he says "do away with cliches". So when you pointed out that Adichie's work was "rather gauche and stale, and even the occasionally piquant metaphors could not salvage the sinking ship", I couldn't help but chuckle to myself that she had violated Orwell's cardinal rule of writing. That said you write really well.... are you a writer by profession or do you do write as a pastime? |

cstr1000:She did her 1st degree outside and not Nigeria She was influenced growing up by her parents mostly her dad cos she is a daddy's girl. She understands feminism not by reading but by watching market women at Nsukka. She grew up watching preferential treatment given to male not for their qualification but for sex as in breaking kolanut. Her novels are strictly from her Enugu experience and stories her mum told her. Should I continue.... So pls get ur facts right.............. |

mhizsuzzy:I am not the one you should be quoting. How does this your epistle change anything? Did the market women at Nsukka made her popular or gave her the global platform? |
