You can suggest a good school where I can go for Master's degree program in environmental related course.

First thing you need to know is that MS in IT is done in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in most schools in the US thus your background no follow at all. Your 2.2 will also affect because IT requires strong Maths skills consisting of probability, statistics and advanced algebra. Does your transcript show you did any of that? If no, then MS in IT is not for you.

Secondly, if you lack Maths skills, do you have any programming experience? I mean C++, Java or Python programming skills. If no, then MS in IT is not for you.

Thirdly, your age is not a problem but you need to show a connection between you previous major and your intended major. Ask yourself, why did I study Mass Communication and Journalism and why do I want to study Information Technology now? There has to be a connection. One is an art course and the other is a technology course requiring Maths and programming skill.

Trust me, even if a school is kind enough to give you admission, you still need to explain to the VISA officers why you are making the switch.

This is what you should do. If you really want to study Information Technology, go online edx(dot)com, coursera(dot)com etc and do free online courses in Information Technology, Data Science and Programming. You need to start loading your CV with certificate on those subject. Also, look for an IT company and do like 6 - 8 months internship (even if you have to pay them) to see what they do. You need to add that experience in your CV and create a connection. If you still like IT after the internship, then brush up your algebra and Maths skills and start preparing for GRE, TOEFL and apply. You also need to score high to get a chance because your 2.2 is going to affect your chance.

Before I start I don't know how to mince my words, I say things the way they are and I am not here to say things that will make people happy.I call a spade a spade. You have a 2:2 and you don't want to write GRE to boost your Profile? Wonderful. First, can you afford the fees? forget any story any Uncle or Aunty might have told you, he/she wont pay that fees. You wont know the reality of things until when you get to the US and you know all that glisters is not gold or the way they seem from Nigeria is not the way they actually are. Except your Dad can afford average of $10,000 per semester + average of $10,000 for living expenses for a year then you are good to go but if not, Madam go and write GRE to at least boost your profile and get some form of funding. There is no short cut to success, you have to move out of your comfort zone sometimes.

HELLO THERE.
BASED ON YOUR PROFILE, YOU ARE NOT THE TYPE OF STUDENT THAT GRADUATE PATHWAY PROGRAMS WAS CREATED FOR.
WHY? THE PROGRAM WAS CREATED TO CAPTURE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WHO HAVE ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE. YOU HAVE A MASTERS FROM A SCHOOL IN THE UK...SO YOU DON'T NEED A PATHWAY PROGRAM. YOU'LL HAVE A BETTER CHANCE APPLYING TO A SCHOOL THAT HAS A MAJOR THAT COMPLIMENTS, BUT IS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR MASTERS DEGREE, OR APPLYING TO A PHD PROGRAM. YOU SHOULD ALSO INVEST IN IMPROVING YOUR VERBAL & WRITING SCORE. A MASTERS DEGREE IS RESEARCHED BASED AND YOU NEED TO DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU HAVE GOOD READING COMPREHENSION AND CAN COMMUNICATE IN WRITTEN FORM.

I KNOW YOU WANT SPRING ADMISSION, BUT IT'S NOT ABOUT HOW SOON, BUT HOW WELL.

So are you saying the visa application would not be successful because I am applying for a pathway program? I thought pathway was also for people with low gre scores (whether quant or verbal deficiency) like predegree we have in nigeria.

I said spring because my sponsor would not agree to wait till next year fall so it's either now or bye bye to it
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by djfrancis: 7:25am On Oct 29, 2017
Hi everyone, first time on here.

First of all, I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of a Graduate Pathway program as I applied for a pathway program in University of South Florida (USF) through a friend of mine who is an agent to study Entrepreneurship in Applied Technologies.

He suggested that most schools (averagely priced schools) for spring 2018 had closed and that if I still wanted to make spring which is my only choice, a pathway program was the best for me. That it is even cheaper and faster in USF (around 25k, 16 months period) such that I could apply for a Ph.d asap or with my UK masters instead of wasting time.

My documents have been evaluted by WES (2.74 US equivalent undergrad and 3.57 equivalent masters)

Issues that I currently have include:

1. I already have a masters degree in International business economics from a UK university

2. I scored 297 in my GRE (q 150, v 147 awa 3.5). Used it to apply for Management Information Sciences (my 1st course choice) at Baruch college, CUNY but was rejected based on my essay and verbal score. Although, my transcript didn't get to them on time for fall 2017 and so had to be shifted but still got rejected.

Into USF ( that is what its called for pathway) requested for my transcript to complete the decision or evaluation process.

I need advice from similar experiences or educational advice to determine if I am taking the right step or not. Kindly assist please. Thanks

3. Since 2015 till date, rejected 4 times at different Us consulates. London, twice in belfast, abuja (family application). All were B1/B2 applications

Into USF ( that is what its called for pathway) requested for my transcript to complete the decision or evaluation process.

Graduate Pathway programs are ideal for international students who need additional English language

you are not only from an English speaking country Nigeria you also states you have a master from UK (another english speaking country ) .

Which kind yeye agent advice you to this, that agent no know e work. this move is like going to the embassy just to dash them your application fee. This is highly not advisable in my opinion . if you are late for spring then simple, work towards another semester. if your sponsor cannot wait the option to apply to any program is stiĺ not the best because that might just be another rejection added to your record which you really don't need after 4 times

Hi Queen, my school requests that you either take on arrival or show the school evidence of a batecteria/ meningitis vaccination before you are allowed in. So I think with this, one has a case for not paying for hostel until arrival right?

Please house, I just noticed something. While I was booking my visa appointment on Thursday, I noted that I will like to depart Nigeria on the 10th of January, 2018 not knowing that my I-20 stated that there is a compulsory Orientation for Freshers/ New students that same day after which school will resume 17th January, 2018. Please I wish to know if there is a problem with this? Thank you.

Hello jerrypeacelinks -

The right thing to answer when asked where you will stay is the truth about where you plan to stay. Believe me when I tell you we are not looking for any set of magic "correct" answers to the questions we ask. We are just trying to determine if you are a bona fide student or not.
Genuine students tend to have plans, tell us what yours are.

Please o, what is the right thing to answer when one is asked where he or she will be staying during the programme? Is the answer not School Hostel?

Am a little bit confused as a friend dropped by to tell me he learnt that choice of answer is usually wrong.

if your school has a compulsory orientation then you should be working toward attending which means travelling before and not on that date

Hello guys, this has been a very interesting thread so far. I thank everyone who has contributed to the success of this thread, you all don't know the great work you are doing and how many lives have been blessed by your act of kindness.

I would like to study in the US. I am 22years of age and I want to study at Utah Valley University. I have my waec certification and other documents relating to my high school. The problem here is that I don't have the means to sit for SAT and I would love to go for TOEFL alone. I have 2 sisters in the US and an Uncle in Nigeria who are ready to sponsor my education.

My questions are..

1) Is it possible to be granted a Visa without sitting for SAT, even if the school didn't ask for it?

2) What are my chances of getting approved, due to my age and other things I mentioned above?

3) I am really new to this and I wouldn't want to make any mistakes. If there are any tips or advice you could add it will be deeply appreciated. Thank you once again.

nobody can predict chances here ....so you just really need to give it your best and see the outcome .

however If your sisters and Uncle cannot pay for SAT since you have no means then realistically how will they sponor your education. without SAT then scholarship is almost not there . Schooling abroad is no joke and it very expensive .

The means I was talking about isn't really about "money". The thing is this, I don't want to take SAT. I am not looking for a scholarship, my family can pay for my education as my 2 sisters are working in the US, my uncle in Nigeria owns a company. And yes, I know it's not a joke. Thank you very much. Taking the SAT exams is one of the yardsticks to whittle down the serious, bona fide students from scrupulous ones. You can never escape that question about standardized exams taken; the ball is in your court.

My sister's husband didn't take the SAT exam and he was given a Visa. I want to follow his footsteps, I'm just scared because people are saying I must take SAT and he said he only took TOEFL and that I shouldn't sit for SAT.

Thank you LagosNIV. I intend staying at the University Hostel and to make that possible, i will either have to take a bacteria/ meningitis vaccination in the school upon arrival or show evidence or reasons why I have to be exempted. However, I intend to take the vaccination there in my school at Kingsville, Texas. Thank you so much for your prompt response. I really do appreciate.
