There was no one in central defence while Chelsea were building. Smalling, Bailly, Matic all joined Valencia and Herrera on the right side of our defence. When the ball came to brief the middle, Jones was trying to track Bakayoko, but the ball didn't go to him, so Jones tried to stop Azpilicueta from making use of the ball since he was already out of position. At that point, Matic should have been slotting in for Jones. But Matic failed to track Bakayoko run into our box which got Smalling confused.

At the end, it was man marking that caused all the confusion. If all three defenders were to stick together throughout, and midfielders allowed to do with the first markings, it would have been a better match for us in my opinion.

After watching the replay, I think Jones is at fault the most. Matic (or even Young) should be the one marking Azpillicueta, not Jones. Bakayoko ran into the space he created and drew Smalling away from Morata. That's how the goal happened.

That we lost isn't the ish, I'm yet to understand what our game plan was all about, we weren't attacking with any conviction nor were we resolute in defence, Chelsea had us split open time after time as it was obvious our center backs didn't know who they were supposed to mark...Mou shouldn't have waited till we were a goal down to alter the formation and personnel, he could have been more proactive...Mhkitaryan has been serving us shiit or rather served us shiit for the entirety of the first half, why persist with him when you have an arguably better player in Mata on the bench. Very poor performance today.
