I'm with Wike on this one. The bedrock of every developed/serious minded nation is science & technology. No one nations like the USA and China place much on STEM courses (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

All governors are fond of doing this, discontinuing their predecessors' projects, not caring who it will affect. Why can't he just manage to pay for them and put a stop to overseas scholarships once and for all.

I dont blame wike for this... I blame the past government... Compare the time dz student were given scholarship and now.... The dollar rate is fuxking high to start paying for students studying courses that would have made no difference if they study in nigeria....



The time they were given scholarship, 1dollar was about 150-200 but now, dollar rate is about 300-365 naira....

My point is dah, it is not wike's fault....

God will not punish Wike for making a wise decision. Our universities can adequately handle these non science courses.

Science/Engineering courses are better taught in advanced countries than here that our universities can not even afford common trainers in the lab.

So only engineering and medicine students deserve to stay there, While philosophy, literature and accounting students should come back to Nigeria. His reason being that we have lecturers that can teach the other courses here. He should have just left them all there.

Very foolish statement. Why did the government grant scholarships to the rest in the first place.

I never knew Rivers state govt actually sponsored people to go learn Philosophy and co. The original plan for the scholarship scheme was to train doctors and medical staff to man the hipsitals built by the last governor across the state; never knew philosophy students also got scholarships...

if science was the only subject when Gov Wike was in school, he wouldn't have been a graduate (lawyer). i think some of our leaders need continuous training on leadership. Leadership should embrace both capital and human development in every ramification.

If you happen to watch video of what transpired between Wike and Rivers students outside the Chatham house you'll be ashamed. He couldn't hide his temper and exposed his weakness to the world.

Even Wike as a lawyer knows that his course is useless in modern day development.

But he’s right tho. Y pay for someone studying accounting or philosophy which are not even major courses. The % of science students getting a job is higher than those of arts students.

We need more experienced doctors,engineers n scientists and not philosophers n accounting.

If you must select , then give more priority to the sciences. Rivers is an oil producing state so we need more Rivers state Engineers and scientists to man the oil extractive sector.
Nigeria as a whole need more science than philosophy. When Nigeria becomes a Rich first world nation from, then you can decide to focus on Luxury courses.
