Hi @kazchick. Sorry about the denial, but I think you might have been denied because of 1) Lack of strong ties to Nigeria and 2) Possibly your inability to fund the Trip if the father of your child decides to back out as there are no legal obligations... If you're due next month then you've kinda run outta time. Try again when possible.... pele.

Please I need your help with making a quick decision. Recent Mamas, Please between Emirates or BA Which has better care / treatment/ considerations for pregnant women or women with children?

I know one stop BA flight to Houston is shorter than one stop Emirates to Houston, however I feel a shorter trip can still feel long if the treatment is poor or if one is uncomfortable. And a longer trip can seem short if one is comfortable.

Please flight class on both flights is Economy.

Please I appreciate your urgent response. Thank you.

Cant speak for BA, but i used Emirates to Houston to and fro and i have no complaint. They didnt ask for port health fit to fly, just the one their website signed by your doctor. On comfort, Lag - Dubai flight was full, so no space to stretch, but Dubai - Houston was light, so i had enough space to rest and stretch, the cabin crew were nice and courteous.

On return trip, adding baby ticket was easy and cheap, less than $100. My toddler, who came with my husband also on emirates, not with me, but we all returned together, was soo comfortable and stucked to the ICE all thru. She had all sort of sweet things to nibble on thruout the flight. The Layover for our return was overnight, we had dinner and breakfast at the hotel we were lodged and transported back to the airport in the morning. In all, Emirates is good in my opinion.

Thanks a lot Debby516, did you book your ticket directly on their website or through an agent you know or wakanow?

Were you very far gone by the time you travelled? I'm looking at going at 35+1 do you think flight of 16:30hrs Dubai to Houston will be too stressful for me? And do you think the 15hrs Houston to Dubai will be too stressful for me and my baby coming back whether or not I have someone to help out on the flight?

You mentioned you were lodged... I assume it was Emirates that lodged you right? Did you have to do / pay anything extra to get the accomodation?

Just trying to picture the trip using your experience. Thanks a lot.

Booked at emirates office in lag after observing d dates and prices on their website.

Were you very far gone by the time you travelled? Travelled at 35 weeks plus, not stressful for me. Inbound trip, layover was 4hrs in Dubai airport and by d time u walk from ur arrival gate to the boarding gate sef, u wont ve up to 2 hrs b4 u start boarding. For ur toddler, there are free strollers in d airport to use. I will advise u dont vw much handluggae wit ur toddler.

I'm looking at going at 35+1 do you think flight of 16:30hrs Dubai to Houston will be too stressful for me? And do you think the 15hrs Houston to Dubai will be too stressful for me and my baby coming back whether or not I have someone to help out on the flight?
I came back with my hubby, toddler and baby and cant really say if it wuld ve been easy alone cos we had handluggages for d layover, cos u wont ve access to ur luggage till u get to lagos. Besides, we didnt get Bassinet seat, so we had to be exchanging the baby when we fell asleep, so baby doesnt fall off from our hands while asleep, lol.

You mentioned you were lodged... I'm assume it was Emirates that lodged you right? Did you have to do / pay anything extra to get the accomodation?
Emirates lodged us, didnt pay for anything extra, we qualified because of the long layover.

Just trying to picture the trip using your experience. Thanks a lot.

Wow! Its good to know you're LA bound and Feb mum too. About airbnb accomodation, I must say the search wasn't easy, but with perseverance, u should be able to get something good at an affordable price. It took me so much time cos I was particular about some basic amenities( Tv, kitchenette, free wireless internet, washer n dryer, bathub) but at d end, i was able to book an entire one bedroom apartment for 38 nights at d rate of $2158 around hollywood area.

My take on this is that your ties to return to Naija are weak. Secondly, the inflows into your account from your partners account is a tad suspicious.

Sorry about your refusal. I also have comment about ties, maybe your job is not sufficient enough ties for you. And your babys child whom u arnt married and travelling with you is somehow questionable to fully supporting financially as stated. If youve gone for this interview earlier, reaplying would av bin possible.

You are not entitle to an accommodation on Emirate with promo ticket. Same with Qatar too....Please ensure you confirm your ticket with them as to whether you are entitle to an accommodation before you pay so you will not be faced with surprise..

My dear, first there is no quarntee that you will come back to Nigeria after delivery which they always check for....
Marriage/ family is normally a good yardstick or a well paying job that you cant abandon for greener pastures.....

Secondly they may not even believe your story about baby daddy, cos there is no prove to that.... any body can form babydaddy, and anybody can transfer money into your account....

..... and they are not sure he wouldn't bolt out of the picture immediately bills starts piling up.... cos sometimes it does as no one can really predict delivery outcome, we just hope for the best!

It all boils down to concrete ties back home, and your ability to pay your bills.....

I flew Dana from PH to Lagos last year at 32 weeks and had no issues. I was asked for a letter from my Dr saying I was fit to fly, I had it and gave them. The airline staff was very nice and went to make copies for me because he said I had to give one to the FAs on board.

Ayotundesh:
Hello people just in case you are traveling local flights to connect with your international flights...e.g from Abuja to Lagos.

The local air lines don't allow you fly over 30 weeks,
within the country....
While international air lines go as far as 36 weeks.

Our local flights average 1 hour... not up to a regular Nigerian movie some may sit to watch.

Do you think they are trying to reduce the number of persons that deliver outside the country...because if a pregnant woman is at risk to fly for 45 mins - 1hour at30 weeks, are they safer to go on a whole day's journey on rough, bumpy, dangerous roads to same destination?

Pls have u received approval from immigration. Cos I also applied for my DS but no response

I eventually got it on the day of my flight. just few hours to my departure. it was so stressful for me cos I didn't want to stay an extra second in the US. Thank God for the time difference. I utilized the 7 hrs difference to keep calling them until they did after lots of issues though and bribery. it's a story for another day. God bless my country Nigeria.

Hello beautiful people, please I need your answers on this question (LO's passport).. DH doesn't work/live in Nigeria and will not be coming to the US. Do I have to send the consent form to his own country of residence or does he necessary have to go to Nigeria to send the notarized letter please?

He can go to a public notary whereever he resides. However he will need to send in the biodata page of his passport as well.

Just my thoughts

When they say do not take discounts or any form of aid, some still go ahead to register for WIC. Collecting something that is not your right and expecting nothing to happen is just wrong. You gave your info when registering for the AID so when they run a search, it would easily come up.

Please dont collect what does not belong to you!!!
What is WIC?

I can assure you that all you need is on this thread and since you are 7 weeks gone its good to start early and you also have enough time to read and digest this thread from Genesis till date.

Many did it and i did read too.

Spending millions to have a baby in the US is an investment worth giving time to. and you need time to read and i bet you THOU SHALL NOT REGRET IT.

Welcome to the Family and happy reading.
