Odunayaw:Politics. Could have caused an intra agency issue over there now. Even if the SARS commander could ask the police officers on Amechi convoy to stand down, I'm sure DSS guys won't. |

Odunayaw:How so? I presented a theme and context of various products bought by various countries, manufactured and patented by certain countries to illustrate that sourcing engines is what most aircraft manufacturers do, in the age of globilisation. Who would take offence and why? |

tdayof:Bro, do I sound like an olodo to you? I said when 95% of an aircraft is built for you by America under technical partnership agreement you dont go about flashing it in front of others asking them to show you who else in Africa can do it, while you deny the huge foreign input for your own product. You dont understand my point? I expect you are smart enough to get it. Anyone who cant see the point am making needs to up his ante on logical thinking. |

The Nigerian Navy (NN) on Saturday inaugurates 20 new patrol boats at NNS DELTA in Warri, Delta. The Acting Director of Information, Naval Headquarters, Navy Capt. Suleiman Dahun, made this known in a statement in Abuja. According to Dahun, the boats comprised 16 locally built Epenal boats and four Rigid Hull Inflatable boats, imported from...cough....cough... South Africa. (sorry, no pictures were released) Link related. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/south-south-regional/249085-nigeria-air-force-inaugurates-hospital-troops.html

SupremeCourt:What exactly is still your point? 95% is being built under technical partnership agreement. How did you arrive at such figure? Aircraft design isn't about drawing I hope you know? Designing an aircraft itself excluding avionics is definitely more than 5% Cc: Odunayaw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vixc36YFUZg |

frumentius:Old man, you can play the buffoonery all you want. Boeing did not sell engine to South Africa, you got engine from Pratt & Whitney USA. Boeing is developing an integrated mission system for the aircraft enabling ISR and light strike missions for AHRLAC safety & security, and military variants. That makes everything in your aircraft American made except the artists drawing, aluminium body and tyres. Show us where Airbus or Chinese companies have their entire avionics and electronics built for them by Boeing, maybe America built JF-17 Thunder for Chinese. Keep pretending you dont know what I am exposing, I have thrown all of you into national embarrassment because of your fraudulent claims. |

tdayof:Anybody with above mediocre intelligence knows when a foreign partner builds for you an aircraft engine, transmission, avionics, computers, electronics, weapons systems, that is 95% of the airplane. Ghana has draftsmen that can draw aircraft design and ask Britain to do the rest of the work. So what did South Africa build in the AHRLAC if not alumi body, rubber tyres, paint job? Like you dont know what technology is, maybe you went to village school, then some Southie fools you around. |

SupremeCourt:Have you heard of CTT Inc? , Annapolis micro systems, Giga-tronics, ciao wireless, wolfspeed, mercury systems, irf solutions, gore, comtech PST, elbit systems, Plath, Raytheon, virtual labs, CSIR, Harris etc These guys are the ones making aircrafts avionics and electronics. Forget the fact that you've not heard of most of them but those F-15,f-22, f-16, b-2. These guys are the ones who manufactured the electronics. Now who's getting the credits ? Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Designing an aircraft itself is an issue. Most manufacturer won't even try going into manufacturing avionics. |

SupremeCourt:Bros. You're saying thrash, and no southie is fooling me. Everyone here knows I don't go with their opinions. How will someone open his or her mouth and say avionics, weapons etc makes 95% of an aircraft? You think designing an aircraft is about a diagram? Hey man, my major is Aerospace engineering ( Aircrafts manufacturing and design) so I'm obviously not typing thrash as you feel. There's a difference between drawing and designing an aircraft. |

Odunayaw:Those are their friends telling them to ignore me, they didnt tell them to stop derailing, as if they are right. The other one said "Ignore that troll". tdayof:Your aerospace degree is fake or your lecturers are olodo. You are talking thrash, only a tech ignorant fellow thinks engine + transmission + avionics + computers + electronics + weapons systems + surveillance systems is not 95% of the aircraft. Your education tells you no African draftsman can draw tech blueprint of that tiny propeller plane world war II design. You went to village school or talk like you did. The AHRLAC is just an enlarged drone made to be piloted, those PhD guys who designed Gulma drone and AFIT Farawa aircraft in Kaduna can design AHRLAC. Keep drowning yourself with backward mentality, they fool you with tech like say you no finis school like 2face |

tdayof:If 300 American companies work with Boeing to make F-18 jet, its still 100% American tech and human skills. If Boeing builds 95% of AHRLAC, then its 95% American tech and human labour input, South Africa can still claim project ownership on legal papers. You dont ask Boeing to build you an aircraft then you say nobody else in Africa can dont it. What of the light aircraft NAF is building with Comp Air of USA? You have a problem getting logic in people's argument, I noticed that from your comments this year. It takes one million explanations before you can see the core of logical reasoning, you just play to the gallery like its rocket science. Show us how drawing a World War II design and welding aluminium is more than 5% of the aircraft, even their drawing design Boeing engineers are helping South Africa to fine tune to fit Boeing avionics and Pratt Whitney engine. They asked for increased Boeing cooperation in 2016 above the level of 2014. To you, it means nothing. Shows how smart you are or you are not. |

Odunayaw:Right. I get you. Problem is some less-informed people genuinely come here to learn and imbecilic/false assertions espoused here left unchallenged are soon regurgitated elsewhere on the internet. A google search for African militaries invariably throws up this thread and all of us should object when garbage is thrown in under the misguided notion that "self-esteem" demands it. My participation in military fora all over the internet leads me to believe this thread can be cleaned up. Or am I too set in my officer ways for this thread? |

just saying what about the fuselage . no mention of fuselage in the 95% or 5% is for fuselage ![]() damn that is too skimpy guess the aircraft will be totally naaaked ![]() and boneless......................... like boneless chicken roast ![]() |

frumentius:You are no officer. At best an NCO of lower cadre. You take it to the bank and cash the cheque. Andrewza best fits that profile. He never acts condescendingly and even though wrong betimes on pertinent matter in question he's restrained: that's the trait of an officer and gentleman. You on the other hand is a jingoist. The chief jingoistic of this thread who subtly in ink thinks his hue and nationality is lord these parts, a deluded thinking which of course only emanates from ancestral uber-self. I warn you don't mention me. If you have half the intelligence you assume you'd decipher the difference in the characters at play here. Alas! You don't! Stay in place. |

Foreign firms have always wanted access to Nigeria's defence industry. Nigeria is the centre of interest for the west. Just that Nigeria refuses. What everyone should know is simple. Nigeria and SA' defence industry are completely different in the sense that whilst the former as state policy allows almost non-existent advanced foreign military tech investments in it's industry the latter does without restrictions. SA does not have single monopoly of the defence systems it produces. Nigeria's reason is clear: Foreign tech comes with strings attached. Apart from restrictions in use and sale whether to third parties for Nigeria the focus is more on not giving access to any foreign power to its defence industry. It allows only limited partnership mostly with Israel and the like but not the West. Nigeria has been wooed in the past but access means rights. Simply put we don't want you to own us. Secrecy is still a weapon of war and Nigeria's military is a fighting army. It is a matter of National Security. It prefers to self develop (Gulma etc). The downside is it takes longer to bring to bear the indigenously developed advanced tech needed in military weaponry. SA also has the bias of it's cousins in the west which began in Apartheid times (i.e N. Reactors tech) and subsists by various forms to this day. Whatever Nigeria lacks today in Military tech is self inflicted. But Abuja won't change that policy. And Nigeria is not alone. |

Odunayaw:Why? Honestly IMO the thread looks much worse with pages of deleted posts than a handful of meltdowns here and there.....Been part of this thread for 3 years and meltdowns happened just as often then as it does now, only difference is we never ran to the mods as people do now, we sorted the sh1t out between our selves. It's since people started calling for the Mods that this awesome thread has been somewhat ruined(and almost destroyed once) by the mods. |
