I wonder what you mean by timid. what is timid about not wanting someone with unprofessional conduct to work for me? yes tattoo is a body art but this is a world where people get judged by the way they look first before personal interaction will happen. I believe he can will get a blue or brown collar job but I surely won't want someone with this kind of ridiculous neck tattoo (very visible area of the body) to be the one to represent my company in a presentation or a proposal.

Why do they have throw in in football when the ball crosses the line? It is the rule of the game but Americans think football aka soccer is stupid. You learn x and y in Maths class even though they are never used in real life. Why? It is all about weeding out process. Like they say, life is not fair. Tattoo is a body art. Well... many employers beg to differ. The question is: Why would a prospective employee limit himself by not adhering to the rules of the game? It is not about right or wrong. Just like in football, if you don't understand the rules of the game, you lose. A beggar has limited choices.

yeah,that's the bone of contention...stereotype,profiling vs political correctness it seems! i hate the general rule of stereotypes but profiling in some instances are sprinkled with some elements worth considering

I think you are one of the people that said the most realistic thing here. Truth is most people are not against tattoos or so. But in a society you sre doing business, majority sees it as affluence to bad conduct so why put a business in the situation when business is about making profit not supporting a cause?.
Is not about right or wrong, is all about the best for any company.
