Islam is equally false. It's not like the Quran is some role model book either.

Good day good people I'd like to shed some light on the issue of Bible translations. Take a moment to read through.

The bible we have today was translated from two major manuscripts, let's call them A and B.
A is the original manuscript written in Hebrew that was handed down through the ages while B was written in the prevalent Greek language of the day.

The king James version was translated from manuscript B into the common English spoken then in 1611. It has been revised and updated about five times into what we have today.

Most other bible translations utilized the older A manuscript which explains the little difference in content and these versions are mostly not as old as the KJV and scholars used the English of their days which has changed markably from KJV English.

Two methods are employed in translations
Phrase translation
Word for Word

Phrase translation seeks to capture the meaning of the word as obtainable in the language which it is translated to. E.g. In kalabari language, "My generation" translates "I bò bè ye" which tries to capture the meaning of the original word and not just the words used. This method of translation is used for the NIV and most recent versions to make the Bible easily understood.

Word for Word translation is used chiefly in the KJV in an attempt to capture the essence and structure of the manuscript from which it was translated. It tries to preserve the form and lexicon of the B manuscript paying little attention to ease of understanding.

This disparity can be appreciated when the KJV and The Message Version are juxtaposed. Whereas the message version makes for better understanding, the KJV seems to carry the prophetic power.

The difference experienced in content and use of English is due to the manuscripts and method of translation and also it should be noted that the English language has come a long way since 1611 which underlines the need for constant revision and updating.

In conclusion no version is superior to another as they all aim to give us God's words from different angles and as Christians we ought to embrace this and make use of more than one version of scripture in our study of God's word.

the Bible is a compilation of books. If by original you are talking of the original manuscripts that these versions were translated from, then the original manuscripts no ,to the best of my knowledge no longer exists.

It's also clear that King James version is no longer the standard English ... meaning the reason for translation is for one to understand. . But king James can't. Provide that anymore ... Moreover king James version is filled with some inconstancy which newer translations have addressed ... Holding on to KJv is more of a ritual than logical reason. . Even the English have revised the KJV... But Africans don't seem to move on... Many times always behind except in crimes
