Abdullahi Shehu is clearly the best RB we have at the moment. Tell me other wise.

We do not conclusively yet because Aina best RB in the championship has not been allowed to play his natural RB position so that a direct comparison can be made to Shehu.

OK O I don agree one more trial but when Kayode had 15 mins against SA we all said Rohr have seen him enough,no more invitation, when Osimhen had a comeo appearance we said he was too young

But Nwakaeme need another trial, when Kayode is on the bench looking for another opportunity. Please is Nwakaeme better than Kayode?

Remember Aina came in against Zambia less than 12 mins we all saw what he can do,against Algeria he had a decent game, the same thing Shehu he seized the opportunity when it matter most.Oyekwuru came in against Algeria we all saw the glimpses.Ogu after a long time waiting came in with a goal and MOTM.

Why can't Nwakaeme show his stuff so that we can forget Ighalo, funny enough Iheanacho was pushed to the wing to accommodate him.

Hope he prove me wrong if he had another opportunity against Argentina because guys like Peter Onuachu,Desserts,Osimhen, Awoniyi,Umar Sadiq are waiting to impress.
.

One question is Nwaekeme better than Obagoal presently.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:27pm On Nov 12, 2017
Simple. Argentina will build from the back. Ball-playing defenders is part of their game. A player like Ighalo can not bully defenders who can hold and pass the ball. Bullying comes from when strikers and players are fighting for balls. Not when the opposition is building play.

In that respect, the striker best as pressing, is the best solution. Watch how useless Lukaku was against Liverpool.

Our best bet is to start Iheanacho who is best at pressing.

Finito.

weytin you go talk before, aren't you his biggest supporter here

He is not alone I thought for debutant he had a fairly good game, looked dangerous, his positional play and reading of the game very good.

And don't forget they were not playing against Azerbaijan but Germany ranked number 1 in the world with England ranked 12.

You have not watched Nwakaeme to judge. Watch him on a better pitch before judging. That pitch was so bad to string simple passes. So very poor condition to judge his quality.

Where did I say competition is not needed?

What I said is Shehu stands apart. Meaning he is a clear favorite among the RB options.

That's because Aina has not been allowed to compete directly with him in his more favoured and natural RB position.

I wonder how well Shehu would do at LB.

Opponent watch

CRISTIAN PAVON

Age: 21
Nationality: Argentinian
Club: Boca Juniors
Position: Winger/forward

Cristian Pavon burst onto the scene with a string of impressive displays for Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores last summer. He then became a regular member of the first team on the back of those performances, and is now considered one of the most important players at the club.

The fleet-footed forward possesses a fearless mentality and plenty of technical skills. Although he’s usually deployed on the right wing, he tends to drift into central positions behind Boca's two strikers; from there, Pavon's a real menace to opponents with his direct running and powerful shots from distance, while he's also demonstrated intelligent movement and a useful knack for arriving in the penalty box at just the right moment.

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the exciting forward.

Cristian Pavon's style of play is similar to Alexis Sanchez except that Pavon is a deadlier shooter. Definitely one our defenders should watch.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH YOU , Aguero's perfomance kept him in that team ... Nigeria players that were axed from the team didnt have any good club perfomance, also national team perfomance was awful . Only martins had fair performance and he's not playing in a competitive league...in fact , hes close to retirment .

You consider Chinese league not competitive, 5 players from the Chinese league are in the Brazilian squad. Striker Tardelli, Paulinho, Hulk, to name a few could be more.

The league is good enough for the team selection of Brazil arguably the best team in the world this decade but not good enough for Nigeria.

Yet some have written off Obagoal for players who have not achieved and may never achieve one tenth of what he has achieved in football.

DARIO BENEDETTO

Age: 27
Nationality: Argentinian
Club: Boca Juniors
Position: Striker

Benedetto is a centre-forward, very quick, who can also play as a support striker. He could be adapted to other forward roles too, but principally he is a centre-forward.

Benedetto was named the best player of the 2014–15 CONCACAF Champions League, and also won the Golden Boot with teammate Oribe Peralta, scoring seven goals in three matches; four in the 6–0 win over Herediano in the second leg of the semi-finals, and a hat-trick in the 5–3 aggregate victory over Montreal Impact in the Finals.

Benedetto left to Boca Juniors from America. On 25 September, he scored a hat-trick in a 4–1 win against Quilmes at La Bombonera. Although resisted at first, Benedetto was the MVP that lead Boca Juniors to is 32nd national title.

I will play Ogu ahead of Agbo and bring the later in the second half. Secondly, I will start Idowu ahead of Aina and let Shehu to keep growing in form.

Shehu is good but essentially he has nobody competing with him. Or I could say nobody has been allowed to compete with him. Is he better than Aina we do not know. It's q false sense of quality. What if Aina is better

We need competition increase our quality not reduce it.

Rohr knows these players better than we do.

He sees them in training and knows what each can offer. There are some decisions he may not have to wait to see from a match day game before making them.

He had both Shehu and Aina in camp and yet kept faith with Shehu.

Shehu seems to have cemented that spot. It is not likely that Aina would displace him. Aina would compete with Echiejile instead.

Did you notice Shehu's displays against Algeria sef?
That guy is improving with each passing game.

Please you often talk about objectivity. Follow your own rules. You said some time ago that you have not watched Ebuehi play, so how come you say Ebuehi is not on Aina's level?

Whatever your response will be, remember that the man who has pegged down that RB plays in Cyprus and you know where the league in Cyprus ranks

Shehu is a top performer in his league and arguably the top performing outstanding player in his club. Irrespective of how low his league is. If I'm right he was given the captains arm band in a a Cypriot team us no mean feat for an African.

Aina is the the number one RB in the championship a Chelsea player on loan. Winning MOTM awards and the stand out player even in Hull.

What is Ebuehi In the Eredivisie is the stand out RB or the stand out anything what awards what recognitions, etc

Pressing has to be qualified by the impact of your pressing. It's about presence, intensity, pace and physicalilty. A CB being pressed by Lukaku and one being pressed by say Raheem can not be the same.

In that regard the physicality of Ighalo compared to KC will cause most defender to be weary, panic and make mistakes.

KC can not bully defenders the way Ighalo can he simply does not have the presence to do it. He can press yes but how effective is the question.
I agree. And it makes it all the more surprising considering the little or no effort Ighalo puts into pressing.

The defenders are not going to cower by the mere sight of you, you have to be imposing. What good is having all the physique when you can't use it to bully defenders? Players like Costa make defenders shiver because they are always breathing down their neck.

Iheanacho edges him by his mere willingness to try. Ighalo might be more effective if he makes an effort, but until he does, I will not rate him ahead of KC in that regard

That for a manager is not being tactically astute. God forbid what if Shehu gets injured or suspended etc

But the real test is to know how good a player is to test him against another player in the same circumstances.

Manager show preference it's not necessarily conclusive our outright objectivity it's preference.

In Everton Phil Nevill was arguably the least player in the team with regard to ability. But the first on the team sheet much to the indignation of Yobo Plenarr, Anichebe, etc.

Training games are not totally conclusive you need a full match possibly a couple of games to to be conclusive about a player.

I know players who are not great in training but complete terrors on the pitch in a match. So I dont agree with that approach.

Given the same opportunity how do you know Aina will not improve more. You simply do not because the opportunity is denied.

It was the pressing of Ighalo in the game against Cameroon that set the tone for that win in my opinion.

Those Cameroon defenders were bullied into making mistakes and made to be disorientated by Ighalo. KC can not do that. He can even win the aerial battles he simply not that the of player.

Closing down the spaces limiting the passing options for defenders playing from the back yes. But pressing with impact no for me.

My first choice STRIKER is for now IGHALO

I disagree that Ighalo's pressing won us the Cameroon game. The highlight of his game was his link-up, his hold-up, his drifting runs.

He did little pressing and it was even more evident in the 2nd leg.

I however agree that Ighalo should retain the CF role.
