A Facebook user Egunnaya Franklin has called out a lady for sewing short shorts with the ISI AGU material, worn mostly by the Igbos.

He wrote;

"Me, am not in support of this, it is an insult to the Igbo nation, come on, we have traditions for crying out loud, how can a full grown lady sew short with our ISI AGU, and you call it civilization, how many Hausa's and Yoruba's have been civilized to this point, it's a total disrespect to our tradition, I don't support evil"

Isi agu is now trendy and mass produced, it used to be for elders back in the days. It was even a thing of pride to own one, you buy it for your FIL as a gift, and he would bless you. But not anymore... that's what happens when you make something readily available for every Tom, Dick and Harry. It gets abused.

Now, it's being embraced in trendy designs, styles and colours.

There was so much fuss when female agbada became a trend, last last...all the noise died down. This too shall pass.

It's littered everywhere in fancy colours and prints.

When I was younger, I don't ever see it in the market. I used to wonder who sells it. Aba has mass produced it and very cheap too You're right, it isn't ordinary ankara.

You see lots of brides and grooms using it for traditional marriage now, it wasn't so before too.
