Even the scholarship I was given did not appear either. I was only sent a certificate to show for the scholarship. Thank you

1. You do not have stellar academic qualifications
2. Your only standardized testing (TOEFL is not great as the only test for grad school) has a very terrible score
3. You do not have significant ties to Nigeria
4. your DS-160 info (employment history et al) is very very mediocre hence it will literarily take "a miracle" to get an F-1 Visa.

How did you find out all this? Considering his post wasn't indicative of any of the(your) above facts

Hello
I applied to just one school and I was admitted. If I'm asked how many schools I applied to, should I say just one? And I didnt take any test, is that gonna be a problem?
I'll appreciate comments, my interview is coming up soon.
Thanks

Good morning people,
I have been a silent follower on this thread, my profile goes thus. On May17th 2017 I went for my first interview and I was denied the reason the VO gave then was my school Park University Missouri is a "very small school". I got admitted for spring 2018 into Bowie State University, Maryland and I have gotten two denials again. I am really confused as to whether to give up on this dream. My last transcripts goes thus

VO~ why are you going to USA?
Me~ I'm going for my Masters degree in public administration at Bowie State University Maryland.
VO~ why Bowie state University?
Me~ The scope of the corriculum at Bowie state university is deep, courses like public budgeting, public personnel management and human resource Managment will expressly address the problem of lack of expertise in the Nigerian civil service.
VO~ Have you ever travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me~No, I have never had any reason to leave my country.
VO~Do you have any international degree?
No, I don't.
VO~Did you write any standardized test?
Me- I wrote TOEFL on September 23 2016 and I handed the result over to her wished she viewed and after that stated I'm ineligible.

Please I will really appreciate, advises on whether to pay another application fee and fire back since school resumes January 22nd.
God bless.

Why did you wait till after the 3rd denial before coming out? Perhaps your first transcript placed here might have gotten you good feedback. Good luck in your endeavor?

You already answer your question. How many schools do you want to claim you applied to? Just be honest with your response and defend it. QED.

Most schools do include it. In fact yours is the first I have heard without it. You will see it under financial breakdown/source of funding your education: Fund from this school/Fund from family or sponsor.

It happened to me before. I asked them to send me an updated I-20 stating my GA and to defer my admission because it was late for me to start the visa process. They did and my sevis number was the same. As for you, tell them to update your I-20 showing your GA in the section for funding. Sometimes, info regards funding don't get to IA before they print the I-20.

If you're a true follow of this thread you would know that you don't have any standardized tests. It seems like someone got the admission for you. For grad students, a standardized test is GRE/GMAT and for undergrads, it's SAT. Your TOEFL is only a language proficiency test..... simply a language test and don't qualify as a standardized test. When asked next time, just say you don't have it or they didn't require it for admission. But but, that can still lead to denial. So the best is to take a standardized test.

Good day wonderful people,
I have been a silent follower of this great thread, and I must confess you guys are doing a great job.

I have just received my Form i20 after having to pay for eShip only to discover that my Passport name was not entered on my Form i20 (the column was left blank). Other information were entered and correct.
Would there be an issue presenting this i20 for visa interview and/or at the POE? Has anyone seen such before?

Please I need your opinion/advice

Good day sir,
I applied for 3 University and 2 gave me admission. The 2 skools that gave me admission required standardized tests but they gave me options of standardized test or work verification and a Case Study was sent to me online to answer and submit, which i did very well in the Case Study. My G.P.A is 4.2/5.0. I graduated 2011 and have been working since 2013. Will my not taking a standardized test be an issue? Ur response will be highly appreciated. My interview is next month.

And also , can you sight an example of how a VO will ask a question that wil make TOEFL the answer because even though my course doesnt require GRE or GMATS, but I wrote TOEFL and my interview is in 2 days time ... so need clarification on this please .. thanks .....

My case be different kinda sha hehe. Im 28. Finished my bsc in local government administration in 2015. Finished nysc in july. But as per i never really liked that course, i want to go start another degree in fineart which is the love of my life hehe (im actually a fulltime SELFTAUGHT artist, you can check out my page on insta @scaezar) so i legit wanna go to school, not run away.
Long story short, i applied to troy and msu. Troy gave me admission already without toefl but im writing toefl anyways on dec.9... I20 will be here on dec1.
My question now is.. Is my case not too errmmm..controversial?

Any advice/question is appreciated

Your case is quite interesting. I think you should highlight your art passion. Take a folio of your productions with you to the interview. Talk about what you want to achieve with your art in a realistic way. The media you want to use and how you'll make a living with it. Good luck and all the best.

that is not the reason, it's not even a 'small' school at all. Even if the VO told you that, you should have corrected him/her. The school has thousands upon thousands of students. The VOs don't know all. You just have to prove you're a genuine student regardless of whether it's a so called 'small or big ' school & ask for God's favour. Moreover, there is no 'big or small' school as long as you can prove your worth
Stay blessed
The VO is actually right, there are small and big schools. Don't deceive yourself. A simple google search would have reviewed that to you. Park has a total enrollment of 911 students for post graduate as at fall 2015, that's even the number of students in 2 departments combined in some schools. So madam/sir the VO was right

Ok. From the screenshot, a standardized test for grads is clear. But the screenshot didn't include SAT as standardized test for undergrads. Also it's only for California State University applicants i.e CSU classification, so it's not applicable to other schools. If you're asked for a standardized test, show them your SAT, GRE or GMAT depending on which category you fall.

how about TOEFL .. should I just keep it ?? And just say No if I am asked if I wrote any standardized test ? I'm going for a graduate degree in GIS at eastern Illinois university

No problem in showing it. The VO knows what he/she wants to see. But if they're asking for your ST and you're only showing TOEFL, you know you still have a long way to go.

For this last part of your comment, you can show the TOEFL but it will sound dumb because your TOEFL can never replace your GRE/GMAT as a grad student. Check previous transcripts of those that didn't use it for admission and didn't have it for the interview. That will give you an idea on how to defend yourself.

You personally should suggest the best way you will answer this assuming you were in this kinda situation ... thanks
.
.
.
.The point is , the school is offering two types of GIS ... one is MBA GIS and the other is PSM ( professional science masters)GIS and I applied for PSM in GIS which doesn't require GRE but only Toefl and it was even eventually waived .... so i can't get admitted with only Toefl if I applied for MBA In Gis .. because it requires GRE .... so in this kinda situation... if I am asked if I wrote any ST .... is it advisable to say yes and present my Toefl ??

80

Hummm IF this is the only test you wrote then to show a score of 80 is very low.... one VO might let it pass another might see it as not competitive enough hence why it better to be higher than lower
