[quotRinzylee =humblenature post=62712656] Bros i understand ur arguement but it holds no water. look when u r a pastor and u receive money from members thru offerings and tithe, they are contributing to d work of God and not "the work of God in ur life". note dat. u r not free to use the money for anything as u like.it is not ur money so the money must be spent in a way that people will see and say "yes"," i am happy i contributed to this ministry ". "see how many lives have been saved and touched". And you must also note, in a world were there were horses, chariots and carriages, Jesus only rode once on a donkey. more often, he trekked. not because he couldnt afford a carriage or chariot or horses but because he really couldnt. he never collected offerings and tithes so he didnt have enough to afford luxory. he even gave d poor the little he had. he chose to be poor bcause he knew dat wealth is not bad but followers of christ should try as much as possible to be modest and flee from unusual wealth. even if u have it by grace, dont embrace it. just use it to help others and ofcourse, try not to buy a private jet.. the worst is even trying to justify it.i think the latter is a greater sin. [/quote]

This Rinzylee dude is making a heck of spiritual sense here..that you and your cohorts are apparently very far from fathoming..

Christ preached modesty . His message was for all afflicted people. His prescence was so refreshing to all around him. The focus of his message was the kingdom of God.mt 24;14, mt 28:19,20 . He didnt go about preaching weath and prosperity, but the future government of his father. If he was so passionate about money he wont tell the rich young ruler to go sell his property. Besides, look at the modest lives his apostles lived ,They were not amongst the rich of their time. Nooo. Otherwise, it would have been pretty difficult for them to fulfill their ministry. Its easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. While should we leave substance and pursue shadows
Modern-day pastors preach wealth, disregard the poor, and most of all, dwell on prosperity instead of the future kingdom of God that will cure mankind problems permanently

6 Now when Jesus was [back] in Bethany, at the home of [c]Simon the leper, 7 a [d]woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very expensive [e]perfume and she poured it on Jesus’ head as He reclined at the table. 8 But when the [f]disciples saw it they were indignant and angry, saying, “Why all this waste [of money]? 9 For this perfume might have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware [of the malice] of this [remark], said to them, “Why are you bothering the woman? She has done a good thing to Me. 11 For you always have the poor with you; but you will not always have Me. 12 When she poured this perfume on My body, she did it to prepare Me for burial. 13 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, wherever this gospel [of salvation] is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her [for her act of love and devotion].

In my own view, helping of the poor is cool but if he chooses to do just that he will end not having even s wheelbarrow for himself because its impossible to eradicate poverty from the country.
Secondly I see pastor Chris as been more helpful to the masses then most popular pastors who don't own just churches but universities, primary and secondary schools and other private investments. Pastor Chris has a music school where they train talented musicians, if you would agree with me Christ Embassy has more gospel musicians than every other church. He own a Healing school as well, or don't you see that as help been rendered.

Brotherly... I actually don't reply mentions, e dey weary me. However, I get your view point, but I must say that your assertions about the "Poverty" Jesus enjoyed is wrong.

That colt he rode was virgin and unused.. let's equate that to a brand new Car. of course that was the means of transportation in those days... Mark 11:2
And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

Second is the fact that Jesus had his needs met by certain rich folks especially women... Luke 8:3
And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance....

third is the fact that He didn't wear a poor man's cloth .... so much that people fought to collect it

John 19:23-24 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

As for Tithes and offerings, Jesus was not concerned with the duties of a Priest, there were still Temple priests who took care of that side... little wonder he mentioned it in passing to the Pharisees... He knew there were more pressing issues that needed to be dealt with and didn't expect anyone to have issues with keeping that Law

Matthew 23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

His assignment was to die and salvage mankind from SIN, SICKNESS, POVERTY, etc, remember the Bible said He became poor that we might be rich... 2 Corinthians 8:9
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Galatians 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

I wish you would show me one thing about Christ that suggests a Pastor should be Poor and shouldn't use a private jet.
These are tools of evangelism bro.. Have you ever missed a flight and had a life changing appointment same Day.. I bet you would jump into the next available private jet if you are offered one. same way, there are a billion souls who have appointments with Destiny that a private jet would hasten.

howbeit, Jesus commands modesty. I don't support any flamboyance or showmanship of any sort and to the best of my knowledge, a few of our Nigerian Pastors have conducted worthy lives.

That mindset that makes one bother about a pastors private jet and have sleepless nights over that matter is a poverty spirit... Destroy it before it does same.

Remember Judas....? He was angry that a lady poured an expensive perfume (the worth of a year's salary) on Your and my Christ....

Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” NIV Matthew 26:6-9

The disciples reveal to us that the ointment used was expensive, but we do not know its exact cost. What makes the ointment so special and why is it so valuable? The ointment came for Northern India and was made of pure nard. The worth of the ointment was about a years worth of wages. Nard is made from a plant that grows in the Himalayas and is used as ointment or perfume. The cost of the ointment was worth about 300 denarii, about $54,509 in U.S. dollars. The disciples where not only shocked by the cost of the ointment she was using, but of the amount that she was using. This act of devotion was seen as waste to the disciples. The cost of the ointment that she used was shocking to me as well. It takes devotion and selflessness to do something like that. She probably did not think twice about using it. The ointment that she used was intended for her own burial but instead she used it for Jesus. She also probably spent her life savings for it. This act shows her trust, devotion, and love that she had for him. I think it would be difficult for people today to do something like that. In the world we live in today, the value or cost of something can often times overshadow or distort the moral and meaning of something.

like i said earlier.. . the worst is trying to justify it.. u have quoted the bible with stress just to prove that our lord Jesus christ loved money just because you want to justify pastors and their luxurious lives. this is how pastors use the bible and turn it to their favour quoting and twisting scriptures to their own benefits.. i weep for ur soul.

You people should becareful the way you speak.ill.of pastors. If u says he lied ,then leave him alone or do anyone from his church ever come to u to beg? To my own understanding , CE is one of the richest and fastest growing church in the world now yet d chruch is 30years.Also, do u know how many jets pastor chris has been offered in d past? have u ever seen him going after or taking pictures with any politician rather than praying for them? do u know that part of d partnership arms in CE is called inner city missions where poor children who can not afford a better education goes to one of the best schools in lagos(go and make your resarch) for free? under this partnership arms, they give free foods to people living in abject poverty which you claimed, RON which is simply called Reach Out Nigeria is one of the best thing ever happened to this country since inception where many laudable communities developmental projects are been provided accross the country(ask the former or present governors of your state about this) do u really know who pastor chris is? I can bodly tell you that pastors in CE are very rich and most of them are billionaires , not that they had this before they came to christ embassy but grew by the word and becomes the results of the word.D bible said he became poor so that through his poverty we can be made rich..i.e..Jesus was a rich man but because of his love for us he became poor so that we can be a rich people and that is for a christians who know how to claim his rights from the lord. No politician (past or present) can say pastor chris comes to their office.or house to pray for them in other to get something in returns or any of those your billionaires listed on FORBES has ever claimed he comes to pray or ask for anything from them...See i have a lot to say about CE or pastor chris cos i was once like u but through thorough searching i got to know that these CE members are rich people, go there nd worship with any of their branch for for just 2wks am sure u will get your facts...

Don't mind the hypocrites, Pharisees and saducees..That's exactly how they think..Just like Judas typical mentality..they themselves are stingy and haven't blessed the poor..but will quickly jump to say..that property is too expensive. It should have been sold and given to the poor. Brood of vipers, masqurading behind social media to show a fake concern for the needy they themselves have never helped.
