Have you started feeling your baby move?
Are you down with malaria or is it for IPT?
Chloroquine is safe in all trimester and fansidar is safe from second trimester. Fansidar is more used for IPT.
The usual practice is to take when you have started feeling baby movement(16weeks upward) except you are already down with malaria.

i am yet to feel baby kick cos we are 13weeks n 4days today n the drugs is just for IPT (preventive). Thank you.

This is what the private clinic I registered with at first said too. But after I clocked 12weeks and registered with the teaching hospital. The Doc i met at my first Antenatal visit who obviously looked very experienced, didn't waste time to prescribe one drug (forgotten the name). He said it was safe even for first trimester, that one must not wait till you feel kicks to treat. I didn't even waste time to take it. I had terrible MS which I suspected that malaria was the major cause. Immediately I started taking the drug, I felt total relief like 2nd trimester should be.

Malaria test result I did with the private clinic showed ++ my PCV that was 38 was down to 33 and they were still telling me to wait till I feel kicks.

Just work with your Doc. If it is a private hospital, ask the pharmacist before you go.

BIRTH STORY!!

My pregnancy journey was quite eventful,it came with Backaches,Migraine,itchy red eyes and hunger cramps(ate like a whale).Prior to getting my BFP,had a miscarriage last year(Blighted ovum) ,then got pregnant 4 months Later...I wasn't so ready for it but still counted it as a blessing in disguise.Had an hitch free pregnancy journey,My Baby was measuring well,heartbeat was always good,protein was never detected in my Urine,PCV was perfect..Baby was in a cephalic position all through till she changed to an oblique position @ 38 weeks.

I was already getting worried at this point because I had started doing all the preggy exercises I saw online and I even ate pineapple and drank Zobo like a thief,yet Labour didn't come naturally

Fast forward to 40 weeks, she turned to a cephalic position but her head wasnt fully down on my pelvis and there was still no sign of Labour, then my Doc said we should wait for one more week to give Labour a chance naturally.it was still the same at 41 weeks.

We went back to the hospital ready for induction on a wednesday,Doc inserted Balloons to open and soften my cervix(the whole procedure was quite painful).medically, the Balloons were suppose to fall off the next day but mine fell out 2 hours later,the Doc and nurses were quite surprised.

finally,my cervix has started dilating or so I thought. Then,it was time for the almighty Drip(oxytocin)...i Was so scared to the extent dat I was already acting out the Drama in my head.
The first Drip was passed and it lasted till Thurs morning,was still watching TV,sleeping in between and Gisting with DH.the second oxytocin drip was passed and I was checking this thread in between irregular contraction.Doc came to check me,Lo and behold I wasn't even anywhere near Dilation, he couldn't even Feel the Baby's head.

Baby's heartbeat was still very much ok cos it was constantly checked while I was on the Drip.
It was at this point Doc said I shld be given one more drip till it gets to half and if nothing happens, a C section will be carried out. I and DH didn't have a problem with it cos we have being opened to any Birth plan dat was going to be convenient for me and my Miss world. Besides, we were already getting tired and anxious to meet her.
I was on the third oxytocin Drip by Thurs Evening still sleeping and chatting when the Doc came in to stop the drip and told me to get ready for a C. Section the following morning cos he didn't want the baby to be in distress.

I was prepped for the procedure the following morning,a Urine bag was passed(quite discomforting) and I was taken to the theatre .when I got to the theatre and I saw the instruments, had to leave to use the toilet grin

.(i was kinda nervous but not scared)

I was taken back to the theatre, an anesthesia was administered and I was numb from my waist down to my leg,but was still awake tho.in less than 5 minutes,my Miss world was brought out with the loudest cry I have ever heard with a fat cord around her neck ...She started sucking all her fingers in her mouth(just the way I saw her sucking during scan). It was actually the cord that kept pulling her back and she was struggling to de-tangle herself from it.

I giggled when I heard her cry,she was brought to me and I saw the most beautiful creature with hair on fleek,Lol.

While I was being stitched up,I started feeling drowsy,an oxygen mask was placed on me at intervals.the Stitching was done and I had to stay in the theatre for the anesthesia to wear off.
After few hours, was told to walk(the most painful walk of my life)from the theatre to my bed with the help of the nurses and my DH.started walking steadily the next morning.Doc came to replace the initial plaster with a tiny one on sunday morning, I was walking freely by then,the Guests that came to see me kept asking if I was sure it was a C section.
In all, I give God the Glory for a successful preggy journey and I also wantu thank mamas here for answering my questions, thank you for sharing ur Experiences,learnt from it and it really gave me strength when I was at the hospital.shop closed till 2020 tho grin

Pls mamas that had CS how did we get back our flat tummies & how long did it take to achieve that. Just when I thought my tummy is going down, I decided to go to the market one weekend & when I joined the brt queue on my way back. People I met on the queue asked me not to join the queue but rather go to the front and board since I'm preggy & before I could explain myself others on the queue joined to say I don't need to stress myself by queing, I should just go straight to the front, I didn't even know whether to start crying or laughing sef but when they insisted i just accepted that i'm preggy & that was how i jumped queue that day o chai! Upon all the peppersoup & hot water I dey drink na ao my village people take embarass me that day o, abeg na only me waka come for this one,make una help una sis o

Foodie Saturday and I dinor see one single food to lick my screen for? sad

OK let me share my eastern soup (not the typical ones sha tongue

)

It's called "Ofe Okworo" (okra soup) but I tweaked it and added ogbono .

INGREDIENTS

Okra (chopped in junks) but I grated mine cos of my son.

Ogbono powder.

Uziza finely chopped(you can use ugu)

Protein ( you can add any and every type of meat in this soup it doesn't discriminate

) I used soft ponmo.

Crayfish blended ( very important for that Cray Cray taste and aroma) the more the better.

Seasoning cubes or ogiri(I used knorr cubes)

Palm oil(this item can make or mar your soup! So buy good oil and don't over use it so the soup can draw) I used 2 cooking spoon scoops.

Salt to taste.

Pepper ( this can be fresh blended or dry grinded) I used dry grinded black pepper.

METHOD OF PREPARATION

Boil your protein till cooked and set aside( the stock is important but remember the quantity of salt and seasoning cubes added so you don't goan add more and make your soup taste like ihe ejiri chuo aja! lipsrsealed

Pour the palm oil into your dried pot and don't let it burn just long enough to melt or loosen the oil.

Add the ogbono powder and stir.

Add the crayfish ( I like to fry mine together with the ogbono but you can skip and add later if you choose.

Note don't fry for long (max 1min)and it must be over low heat.

Add your meat with stock, watch the water quantity please so you don't end up eating your soup from your elbow. If its much you can freeze the extra for another day or just throw it away.

Stir.

Add your seasoning cubes, salt , pepper and crayfish( if you chose not to fry with the ogbono)

Allow to boil for 20 min so the ogbono can cook properly.

Add the chopped or grated okworo followed by the uziza or ugu leaf.

Cover and let simmer for 1min if you are serving it immediately or less if serving later. This is to enable the vegetables cook properly and not be over cooked or under cooked.

Osetigo cheesy

Serve with any swallow of your choice or just eat the soup alone, its very filling by itself and good for weight watchers abi those on a restricted carb diet.
