What nonsense. Before I got into the university, after my ssce I was bored and got a job teaching for three months. It was a private school and they were expecting a score of 80% minimum (which of course I aced). You CANNOT grade teachers and students the same way. Teachers are the ones passing knowledge across. If they are not grounded enough in those subjects to score almost everything correct (leaving room for slight blunders) then they're not qualified to teach. Why should the government expect less than what a private school expected from me??! (A jambite at the time!!).

This is some major information. As much as I support the competency test, I think the Kaduna state government should look into this

You expect the pass mark for a TEACHER to be the same as the pass mark for a standard candidate?

I stand with the governor. Why should a teacher (no matter the level) fail a primary school test below 75%. I believe those teachers studied up to secondary school certificate or teachers' training schools. If they are below 75% then, it will be difficult for them to produce scholars above that 75% competence.
I'll encourage the federal government to copy this and extend this test to other teachers all over the federation. Few years ago when Oshiomole did similar thing in Edo state, it was the same surprise that we saw. Let the unqualified be flushed out and make way for those graduates and other qualified citizens roaming the streets.
This is a clear indicator to why private schools are surviving more than government schools.
Though I'm anti El Rufai, I give him a thumb up for that move.

The teachers might be incompetent like some University lecturers .

But this is not a primary school test.

Even the questions on that script are not for primary schools.

Those are TC.II questions .

sticks is a teaching aides

To be candid, this is not a primary four question. No, it is not. Can a primary four pupil even know what lesson note is let alone defines or mentions its benefits. As much as I agreed with El-rufai, the question is of NCE or Grade11. Haba!

Don't you think it's a shame for a teacher to be dragging 50% as pass mark for primary 4 exams.

I would also use 75% if I were in his shoes. You should be able to make a distinction inmprimary 4 exams.

As a matter of fact any waec holder who scores less than 75% in primary 4 exams should have his certificate revoked and go away for primary school certificate again.

We cannot allow mediocrity and emotions to ruin us. How dare the imbeciles try to drag us to thier level.

Fire them all.

Just saw this. Agreed it's not primary school exams.

Sitting here I can answer all those questions without fail. Using your common sense imagine teaching aid can't be explained by a teacher.

You don't just go and set useless exam paper and use it to embarrass people simply because you're governor.
There must be "standards".
They have to start by setting up a teachers' college and get their standardized exams to re-test teachers or do it more professionally by asking teachers to attend CPD programs! CPD = CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.

This whole thing is so 3rd world!
