Everything (aside from tuition) you said up there is not genuine and sounds rehearsed. Even I could spot that a mile away. If alumni connections are important to you and your career then why Ashland instead of Harvard, NYU or UPenn? C’mon, the VOs weren’t born last week. Be honest. You’re better served saying less than digging a deeper hole for yourself.

Twood, please kindly check your PM.

how true could dis be?

How many transcripts are posted here (very few) compared to the hundreds that go daily to the embassy ..... so transcript posted here cannot be a true representation

Hiding that particular post was not done as a personal issue with you, I do that in every thread in this section because anything is criminally possible.

It's not bad, but I'm pretty sure you actually checked other schools as well while applying to only one.
So, you can tell the VO, the other schools you checked and let him know that you actually applied to only..
E.g. I considered 3 schools but I applied to only 1.

My people, indeed it takes courqge to come up here to post your denial transcript o. The moment I was denied, I felt like the ground should open lemme fall into it or even disappear into thin air but now, it seems am better and stronger now emotionally.

Now, here comes my denial cry

Visa Interview Denied at the Lagos embassy today 7am. Consular was a dark American lady at Windows 9.

VO: Good morning. (No smiles whatsoever). Pass me your i-20 and passport.

Me: Good morning. (Me smiling and thinking, madam smile for once kwanu) I passed my documents)

VO: I see, you are going to study Maths and Statistics at TAMUK, Texas?

Me: (Smiling) Yes.

VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: I hold a BSc in Computer Science.

VO: You said?
Me: I repeated.

VO: Okay. When did you graduate?

Me: November 2011.

VO: and since then what have you been doing?

Me: After my graduation, I embarked upon the compulsory NYSC experience which elapsed in 2013 and I secured a job at XYZ bank.

VO: Okay what do you do for them?

Me: I stated my responsibilities.

VO: How long have you been working ?

Me: over 3 years. January 2018 will make it 4 years at the bank.

VO: So what will this course do for you?

Me: It will equip me with the analytical and technical skills needed to flourish in my career. It will also help facilitate my promotion at my place of work.

VO: Why did you choose this school?

Me: Asides the fact that they offered me my concentration, they also offered me a free campus scholarship housing with an instate tuition waiver which will allow me enjoy paying my fees as an instate Texan resident.

VO: Quickly grabs my i-20 like say she b Russian grin. But I can't see any free housing scholarship on your i-20.

Me: Yes and that is because the email came later after i-20 was issued.

VO: Okay? Can I see the letter?

Me: I passed it.
VO: Nodding her head. Okay?

VO: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: I applied to three schools.

VO: Did you write any language test scores?

Me: Yes. I sat for toefl and GRE.

VO: Can I see them?

Me: Showed them.

VO: Okay? Tell me the requirement for this course.

Me: To complete this course, I will complete a total of 30 credit units of course work which include 18 credit unit of core course work, 6 units of elective, and 6 units of thesis. The course duration is 24months starting from January 10th 2018 and will end in December 2019.

VO: Sorry, can you take it all over again?

Me: I stated it again but in a remixed version. grin

VO: Have you travelled out of the country before?

Me: Not really. And that is because I have not had any reason to until after now.

VO: Okay? Who is your sponsor?

Me: My dad is my sponsor. He is this and that .

VO: Well, I will be issuing you (I come dey happy for my mind)... She continued... the denial paper, this is because you were not found eligible for a visa according to Section 214 (B) of the US Immigration and Nationality act. Blablabla.. The rest no even near my ear as I was like? What happened? (Maybe VO even heard me talking to myself). I had to hide my blue paper so that one of us a nairalander who was warming up for hers won't be demoralized.

I marched out like an old major ;Dwhile people dey hail me congrats sir, anything dey for the boys? In my mind, I was still asking, what happened?

House? Abeg make una gather come sit for my head o. At a time I wanted to ask VO if we can start the interview all over again.

Well? Denial is not failure though. I shall return to retire after the house is done sitting on top my matter.

Your interview was pretty good. You took the GRE and TOEFL, good school, good major... it's surprising that you got denied. I would recommend that you try again... asap.

good day family... I had my visa interview yesterday 28/11/2017. Like someone rightly pointed, its getting tougher by the day embarassed.. But this is not to create panic. I just believe all will end well.

In my own case, i just believe it was God's doing. Not to bore you so much, I was interviewed by a guy in Window 6here goes my transcript;

V.O: good morning
Me: Good Morning, how are you doing?
V.O: Fine thank you (in my mind, this is going to turn out good)... Pass me your passport and I-20 please
Me: passes
V.O.: Why are you going to TAMUK?
Me: For my Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
V.O.: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3, Tamuk. Sdsm&t and TTU
V.O.: So why Tamuk?
Me: Tamuk offers excellent education to its student through high quality teaching, research and scholarly activities. It has facility for work in Computer aided engineering design and computational fluid dynamics. I am keen on working with Dr. Johnbull. I contacted him and he was impressed with my undergraduate result and test scores(if only i know i hyped myself in his eyes at this point embarassed cry) . I continued, We will be working on a collaborative project with UofW to model their steam generator using ansys fluent or open foam

Now this is where the real driling started... Baba was on his computer for like 2minutes or so, apparently he was checking online for questions to ask me on fluid dynamics since i claimed i was a badass. i have read so many transcripts here on NL, i havent seen something like that before, the most they do is ask one technical question in your field. Then the bombshell followed...

V.O: Tell me about di-kinikan kinikan of fluid mechanics (i swear i never hear am before, in my mind, i was like village people finally followed me to this place)
Me: What?
V.O: Repeated question again ( i still couldn't make sense of what the word means or how to link it with fluid mechanics... My own don be, i asked what again) Then he repeated the question for the 3rd time using the same word and then he was like "or how is it pronounced".. that was when i knew baba just checked something randomly, i dont know where the courage came from, i just started saying this unplanned rubbish confidently and even said it has application in production industry like coca cola
V.o: (obviously wasnt impressed by my answer, i could read that) then he asked for something something on turbulent flow
Me: Confidently, Turbulent flow is a flow where reynolds no is >3000. where you have layers of fluid interwoven into each other. It has application in oil production and undesirable in some circumstances, as a result, you see flow meters and other measuring devices on line (trust me, I dont have an idea of either the question or how the answer i was giving relates with it)
V.O.: Explain Bernoulli's principle
Me.: (Ope ooo, finally i can breathe) Bernoulli principle is basically the law of conservation of energy, the cumulative energy at one end of a flow is equal to the other end, so when you vary a parameter like diameter, you will expect a change in pressure. i gave him an instance of a venturi meter
V.O: Are you married?
Me: No
V.O: Do you have kids?
Me: No
V.O: Have you traveled out of Nigeria before?
Me: No Sir, I have not had a need to
V.O: (Takes my I-20, sees my sponsor/guardian ) who is Donald Trump?
Me: My Uncle
V.O: Why would he sponsor you?
Me: He has been paying my fees since I lost my mom in high school
V.O: Do you have his statement of account?
Me: (in my mind, I was like My worst fear has just been confirmed...But Still confident) Yes Sir
V.O: Can I see it?
Me: Sure you can, brings it out and passes to him (and I began imagining life after collecting the blue paper... This is why. The statement of account was printed over a 4months period, it opens with a balance of 17k, then for the 1st 3months, the credit n debit on the account were in the range of 2.50 to 100... So I wasn't surprised when he asked me if it was a dollar account. I disappointedly answered, "no sir, it's a naira account" ... he checked the 1st 5pages, saw the trend. I just quickly added that I had instate tuition scholarship(I didn't even care if it was a necessary information or not), he checked my I-20 to confirm, then he did a quick conversion of the balance equivalent in naira. Money in the account was 9M, so it was quite marginal. He continued checking then he flipped to the last page, he saw the 1million credited and debited in the week I printed the statement and the 9million credited into the account the day I printed the statement... I was like it's over. He returned my statement and Then the endless typing followed and baba brought out the white paper, circled something and said I will get an email from them within 3days... Omo yours truly couldn't hold it anymore, I let out the sigh, carried the white paper and my doc, said thank you Sir and walked out of the hall crying ...

Hello fam.,

my school refused to send an email copy of my i20, but I persuaded them to send me the SEVIS number which they did. My questions are:

1- can I fill ds 160 and book an interview date without my i20 hard copy?
2- I do I fill request for an expedited appointment at the Abuja consulate office.?

Note- my i20 should be in Nigeria in the next 4-5 business days. Thanks for your contribution.

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by abeeolars: 10:11am On Nov 29, 2017
Goodmorning Guys,

This thread has been very helpful i must confess. I was interviewed yesterday morning and i got the VISA. So here is a little way to give back and say thank you. First of all i want to say a big thank you to everyone who comes back here from time to time to drop their transcript, a big thank you to OMOLUABI for the series of mock, also to my whatsapp nairaland group members, especially Dupsaw and Therighteous for their own mock interviews and advice too. It felt like a small family with you guys and i pray that every member of our whatsapp group gets their visas as well.

Ok, i left my Ikoyi apartment around 4.15am, i said my final prayers, ordered for taxify and by 4.30am i was at the embassy. I was the first person to arrive and it felt super cool, infact it felt like i won a medal LOL. I actually wore my best suit, best shoes, and i was looking all corporate, and i felt so confident. I had already read here to ignore those embassy touts, so i didnt even pay any attention. People started arriving at about 5am and by 6am the embassy was filled up.

I did try as much as possible to maintain my front area position, fast forward to 6.30am, two officers came out from the embassy and told us to form a queue, chai some fast guys took my front position. Anyways i was amongst the first batch and i did all the necessary finger prints and i was later directed to the white guy at desk 6. I noticed some mistakes that some people made that i will like to address; when you get to the embassy, dont go about making new friends, gisting and hanging around, it may cause you some distraction, just focus on the mission at hand, also dress sense is also important as your appearance counts alot, for the Men, try to get a clean haircut and a clean shave, remove all those beards, dress in a manner that the VO will be convinced that you are a responsible fellow, dont come wearing some canvas and looking hipy, or some random outfit, for the ladies too dress like someone who is going to a higher institution for professional studies.

My transcript goes thus-

VO- Goodmorning
ME- Goodmorning Sir

VO- Kindly pass me your I-20 and passport please.
ME- Have it Sir.

VO- So i can see you are going to Sulross state university for your Masters degree in business administration?
ME- Yes, i am going to Sulross state university at Alpine in texas for my MBA.

VO- Why the career change from Agricultural Economics to Business Management?
ME- While i was in the university i realised that i had a strong passion for discovering and promoting young entrepreneurs, and also organising
events. I have discovered and promoted over 300 startup brands here in Nigeria so upon graduation i realised that this was what i wanted
to do for the rest of my life.

VO- (Now he looks straight at me in the eyes and i starred back at him) So how will an MBA help you in this choosen career?
ME- The MBA will help me in acquiring the needed professional skills for a successful business career. It will also
help me to learn and network with a diverse class of people who would have come from different parts of the world.

VO- Did you apply to any other school?
ME- Yes, i also applied to Texas A&M University at Commerce.

VO- Did you get in?
ME- Yes i was also admitted.

VO- So why Sulross?
ME- (He stares at me again) Well, i had been in close contact with Dr Marett she
heard about what i have been able to achieve with my startup business here in Nigeria and she has agreed to offer me mentorship to
inorder to become a better business Man. Also Sulross state university is very affordable for a state
university and considering the quality of education they offer.

VO- Did you write any tests?
ME- Yes, i wrote TOEFL and GRE.

VO- What did you score?
ME- Toefl 82, GRE 281

VO- Who is sponsoring?
ME- My Dad.

VO- What does he do?
ME- He sells and import cars and he is also into real estate.

VO- Do you have any statement to show you have enough funds for your first year?
ME- Yes. *sharp sharp i brought out all the documents, na em i com dey find the statement oooo, lol cos i had printed out my personal bank
statement and that of my business, so i had about 3 different statements, the Man was actually waiting patiently for me. I later found my
Fathers statement hiding under one of the documents. He looked through for about 15 secs.

VO- He picked a white paper from his table, circled my pickup location. He didnt even say i will be approving your visa like i read from other
transcripts, he just said so you can pick up your visa in three days time, honestly, i didnt hear all the other things he was saying
afterwards.
ME- Thanks alot Sir. God bless. I packed all the scattered documents and i left.

Once i came out of the exit door, i looked up to the sky, i felt connected to the Lord at that moment and i felt he gave me a BIG smile back, i said "Thank you Lord". So i am going to the AMERICA grin

The Lord did it and i give him all the glory. I really practiced so hard for this, it reminded me of how much i prepared during those years i was writing ICAN back in uni cheesy

I wish you guys all the best.

Congrats. I think I saw you o. You we're on a white shirt and one kinda tie colour abi? Na the expression of the guy after he got visa make me day think say mah you be that o.

Red herring!!!.. this is very untrue; the US embassy encourages applicants to dress comfortably, well within the limits of sanity, and the whole purpose of the visa is to determine your eligibility for the visa and the authenticity of your claims which you have submitted to Homeland, and not to size you up. what would you say of my Muslim brethren who have to keep beards as is required by their religion, or Sikh men whose beards are enough to make santa jealous; while we Nigerians look at unnecessary things like this, the embassies and VO's understand that cultural differences exist, hence your eligibility for the visa and the authenticity of your claims are the only reason you come to Walter carrington. cc abujaNIV
