let me tell a story:one of my uncle whose father died when he was 6 years old happen to find favour with the company he was working with his technical secondary school certificate.
The company decided to put him through and extensive training in mechanical engineering aspect both within Nigeria and overseas. He put in many years training other people in company then resign and start his own engineering company. I can tell u now he is sought after in many develop countries. sometimes they chartered plane for him.
All the same I wish u d best. first class no b beans.

The 1950's generation was a generation of degrees, while the 1980's and below generation is one of skill. so if you think because you had a first class you will get a job, you are leaving in the past. The new generation of work ask the question "what can you do?". our education system is decades behind until we change it nothing will change.

Has he written any job tests? What were the feedback? Or is he expecting companies should just contact him because he went to the UK (a good school, no doubt) and has a first?

I can understand things been hard presently (I've experienced THINGS! First time in my life!), but then... let's hear the full gist. That said, congratulations, it's no mean feat. I kinda of feel sad reading he is doing GA (I understand the available becoming desirable theory), however, there is nothing really motivating in a GA position (pay, promotion, career, research, whatsoever!). It is a mere "marking results and errand boy position".


I'm quite sure he was on a scholarship (Commonwealth springs to mind). Yet another reason one should not opt such kind of scholarships (you must return after your studies). Who wan return?
