If Ezenwa makes the kinds of mistakes, he made against Algeria in the WC. We will chop one heavy defeat .

Ezenwa is 29/30, what Super Eagles future does he have?

Ezenwa just signed for Enyimba who have Afelokhai and Dauda, so there is no guarantee he will be number 1 there.

Uzoho should be exposed in the friendlies, let's get him mentally and physically ready just in case. He is the future.
Watch that Uzoho. He has that thing. For now I prefer him to Ezenwa. Shaky Shaky gk affects our backline especially Balogun. Let's see them in the friendlies though. 45 minutes each for both Uzoho and Ezenwa.
@all please guys watch this video on Facebook link to see what Uzoho might be getting compared to Ezenwa

People celebrate just qualifying for the WC more than winning continental cups.
Exactly! Just like the Greeks celebrated qualifying for the 2010 World Cup that they celebrated wining Euro 2004.

Obviously, you're of Sunday Oliseh's school of thoughts: playing in the main league automatically makes you better than those who are playing in the lower division, but I am not buying that. I believe that our best players should be playing for us regardless of where they are fond.

From Reuben Agbola down to Shehu Abbdullahi, we have found some hidden gems in the Super Eagles, who were not luck enough to be playing in the so called top teams or top divisions. Anyway, my bottom line is our best players should be playing for us regardless of where they are found ... even if they are home-based or playing for other African clubsides.

O pari

So how are you going to determine who is best and or better.

Scoring 15 goals on Norway is not the same thing as scoring 15 in the EPL, La Liga and or the Bundesliga.

We pick players in the best leagues as it is already an indicator for excellence and top quality.

Balogun is one of about seven defenders we will be taking to Russia, he should not be the reason the defence will be referred to as 'thin'....
Probably not thin in terms of the number of defenders at our disposal but a bit thin in the depth of quality in central defence. We have several options at wing back but we are still yet to see somebody really step up as a quality back up at CB except maybe for awaziem. That is why Rohr is still searching for a CB and maybe that is what the writer meant by 'thin'.

Oliseh is actually a good coach but his man management is poor.

He almost ruined the SE. Imagine sacking Mikel and using Paul Onobi in his place. Where is the Paul Onobi today?

Same way he sacked Enyeama who was bereaved and just fresh from burying his parent

The Black man has a long way to go. Our ego breeds negative energy instead of positive results.

Enyeama was not first choice.
The England game was just a dead rubber for us. Nothing at stake.
We need a good and experienced goalie for the WC.
I am not totally discarding the young goalies. But they cannot be first choice.
If Enyeama will not be available let Ezenwa be first choice then.

ezenwa?
God forbid....that guy will be a disaster for us @the world cup....
please uzoho proves better then.

I just saw a thread on fp about the Super falcons playing France in a friendly next year. this x a step in the right direction we need more of it, the change n growth in the Eagles affairs should stream down to other teams both male n female.

I can't wait for our female teams to replicate what we are seeing in the senior male team now. I hope the new super falcons coach is even way better than Rohr in handling the girls
Amaju did well for sports in Delta states then, it was actually surprising to me that he started slowly in the glass house( not getting many things right at first).

You pick most of the players playing in the best teams in the best leagues, there are always exceptions to this rule as there are other intrinsic factors to be considered.

The core of the team has players playing in the best teams and leagues, you should be fine with that.

I don't think beating Argentina should be a yardstick to belittle some players super relevant in the team and i know Rohr has a coach will not joke with Mikel,Vic Moses,Ndidi,Onazi,Balogun,Ekong,of recent Iwobi in his line up.

I remember Nigeria beat Brazil at Atlanta in the absence of Sunday Olishe but in the final against Argentina he walked straight into the first eleven meaning is indispensable.Hope you remember how Stephen Keshi was shuttling Belgium and Morocco during Maroc 88,despite winning the semi final in the absence of Keshi,Stephen Keshi came in straight from Belgium to play the final as a starter.

Nigeria beating Argentina does not make Vic Moses and Ogenyi Onazi dispensable, only injury will ruled these guys out.
Victor Moses yes, but l feel Ogu can play the Onazi role appropriately as well.

That's nice. Let's see how far he goes.

I don't really see what's holding Siasia back, he'd make a really good coach. Coaching the age-grade teams to me is not fulfilling his full potential.

Oga so Onyekuru's, Iheanacho's, Bonaventure's, Martin's etc class will not outshine Ogbeche's when they are all in camp?
Oga i've only maintained recent performance is enough reason to invite a player.
When you add other criteria like what they did 15 years ago etc, then I'm afraid we can't even start making a case for emerging players that are largely unproven. I've canvassed for performing young players as much as I have canvassed for performing oldies. What does that tell you? Never change the goal post.

Icon4s:

Recent stats.

What has he been up to 2-15 years back?

We have refused to learn. The same mistakes we keep making over and over.

Form may be temporary but class is permanent.

I would even rather have an Obafemi Martins who has class and is in a decent form.

Ogbeche kwa?

Tomorrow when they say you are an advocate for the oldies you will be arguing for Africa.

Deportivo B is in the third tier still. Don't let the lettering deceive you. However, for a keeper it is a good thing that he is playing regularly regardless of whether he plays top flight or not.

MetalJigsaw:
Uzoho plays regularly for his club. Such is not the case with Alampasu.

And Uzoho plays for Deportivo team B, not C. And he's first choice.

Has Alampasu played in Liga NOS yet?

forgiveness:

Yes, Uzoho plays regularly for his team B in third division regularly while Dele Alampasu who at one time was a second choice with the team A in the second division three seasons ago had played regularly in the third division last season before he was promoted to the first team in the Portuguese first division. You can see he is progressing and he is in a better position than Uzoho.

The difference is clear.

Very valid point. But it's still an assumption until Rohr comes out to tell us what exactly he saw in Nwakali.

TheGoodJoe:

Chidiebere Nwakali and Ifeanyi Matthew have contrasting style of play. So you can not expect Ifeanyi Matthew opted ahead of Chidiebere Nwakali if the coach is looking for a player with the attributes Chidiebere Nwakali has.

Ikeme still played in the 2nd-tier

We had only Enyeama smiley

Kog45:
My man it's a pity that we have to go for keepers keeping in division 3 and regional league in Europe for super eagles,no thank to Ikeme health and lack of class in Akpeyi and Ezenwa,if not we will not be discussing who is better among the trio who are keeping in team B in their various clubs.

Oh my God,Uzoho playing regularly in division 3 is now a thing of joy abi and Maduka keeping with Fortuna Dusseldorf team B is now a pride for our national team, also Alampasu a bench warmer, honestly Akpeyi and Ezenwa really fall my hand.

Let me ask you this,if Uzoho find himself in Deportivo main team back as second keeper and always on the bench would you pick Maduka ahead of him due to his playing time in regional league with Fortuna Dusseldorf team B cos you are rating the same Maduka ahead of Alampasu now, this is a guy nobody mentioned here but now a beautiful bride just like the way some guys were defending Nwakili invitation whereas we have better performing midfielder in the same Norwegian league.

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 1:38am On Dec 05, 2017
Dragging ke.
Uzoho is clearly ahead of Alampasu as far as SE is concerned. Who got invited, and more importantly who actually got the chance to keep between the sticks? And how did that person perform? It's as clear as daylight.
Despite Alamps several invitation the gk coaching crew never gave him a nod to feature. And all of a sudden someone breezed in and kept against ARGENTINA. And what did Rohr say after that?
Let's go back and watch Uzoho in that 2nd half.

safarigirl:
na condition make crayfish bend.

If Ezenwa was up to it, we would not be discussing any of those three, would we?

All these IFs no mean anything. The fact on ground is that we are having a crisis in the goalie area and anyone playing regularly should be ranked highly.

We just need a goalie that plays well and right now Uzoho is ahead of Alamps because:

1) He plays regularly

2) He had a comparatively better debut

Uzoho and Alampasu are dragging one spot as far as I am concerned...Maduka is not even in the mix

My friend even you yourself will not be comfy seeing Ezenwa between the sticks at the world cup. Uzoho brings the kind of confidence I've been looking for since Ikeme. I don't care about age.

Too many IFs with Enyeama. Will he find a club? Even if he does, will he play? Even if he does, will he agree to come back?

and if he can't?

It's not like Alampasu has posted a solid performance in the recent past.
Uzoho is AHEAD. Is Alampasu as good or better? He can't prove that if he is not playing.

As regards our earlier discussion. The below shows 3-5-2 was adopted for tactical reasons and not because of lack of certain personnel.

“Nobody gave us a chance (vs Argentina in Krasnodar three weeks ago). But a day to the game, the coach came to me and told me we will apply a different tactics and that will make the difference. If you know it will work, let’s go.” Pinnick told CNN

“We have a coach who has the mentality of a winner, and he has imbibed the players with the same attitude, We can do very well at the World Cup in Russia.

“I am very delighted that we have a team for tomorrow; a team for the next (2022) World Cup finals”, Pinnick remarked.
