Please, when is it appropriate to sign the form I-20? Before visa interview or after? Cos my interview is 2moro morning and I haven't signed it yet.

Sign with immediate effect & backdate it. A guy was delayed because of that. The VO told him that...it means he doesn't read through from him not to have signed his i20

America don't have an Official language.
English is spoken by almost everybody in America , but did you know Spanish colonize America . So out of 10 Americans 8 can speak Spanish.. Some people only speak Spanish in america don't you know..
Las Vargas, Los Angeles, California, El paseo in Texas, Sacramento they are all Spanish words.. I think that's the confidence we are saying.. Almost all those VO in that embassy knows Spanish and litte Pingin.. They go to malls they hear people speak our English and they aware..... Go there and say Holla.. They would never find it weird.. America has English and Spanish as thier lingual franca...
I disagree. The little time I spent in us, I noticed Mexicans are everywhere, and they have huge influence on america. Mexicans brought Spanish to America. And the British colonized American not Spain

I had my visa interview today 6th DEC, and o boy! The screening was stressful. Well I will say it was just the grace of God I had tho, cos those Vos weren’t smiling.

And please, for first timers like me, have it in mind that you have to stand throughout the interview, I have always thought it was like a sitting kinda setting .
Anyways, My interview went like this…

Me: Good morning
Vo: Good morning, pass your passport, sevis receipt and i20 pls
Me: Here they are
Vo: So ure going to…
Me: ( I completed it for him) STMUNI San Antonio Texas.
Vo: (Nodding) for a Masters of Bachelors degree
Me: MA in Communication studies
Vo: What’s your highest education
Me: I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass communication
Vo: How did you hear about this school (now his looks were intense)
Me: well, STMUNI was recommended to me by my mentor who was my lecturer during my undergraduate studies, and he is an alumnus of the sch.
Vo: how many schools did you apply to
Me: 3 universities.. STMUNI, Tarleton state uni , uni of Missouri Kansas city
Vo: How many offered you admission
Me: 2…. STMUNI and uni of Missouri, Tarleton state uni is still pending
Vo: (nodding) so why chose STMUNI
Me: STMUNI course curriculum aligns with my career plan, that is, they offer communication studies with concentration in media, Public relations and organizational communication
Vo: Did u write any test
Me: I wrote GRE
Vo: what was your score
Me: I told him ( he nodded)
Vo: (Nodding) so who would be your sponsor
Me: My Father… oh I mean my daddy
Vo: smiling. What does he do for a living
Me: I told him
Vo: Have u ever been out if Nigeria ( He flips tru my passport)
Me: No, I haven’t had a reason to until now

He typed for like 3-4 minutes, then passed me the white paper circled with the collection location and my i20, u will be needing it at the Poe, bla bla bla.

I’ll say its just the grace of God. Nairaland helped me and prepared my own personal transcript, and I conducted a mock interview with myself facing the mirror everyday just to build my confidence.

I think best and safer response to that question has always been NO... even if your whole family is there... for F-1 Visa... No is kinda better so as to let them know you got no ties in the USA which mean that you are surely coming back home.

You really don't want to be lying to VOs. The best thing is always to be truthful and apt, not volunteering unnecessary and in some cases, unfavorable information.

Good Morning Peeps, I need guidance.

My F1 visa expires in February 2018, while my Post-OPT expires in May 2018. What documents do I need to renew the F1 visa in Nigeria? What are the chances of getting the renewal? Your guidance will be appreciated!

Just check the US embassy website for requirements. It looks like you started OPT already...assuming you didn't do Pre-OPT. In that case, I wouldn't advise you to travel (while on OPT or even close to the end of your program). Your F-1 was for the duration of your studies and OPT only extends it sort of. At this point, what you should be seeking is H1-B sponsorship if you are not planning move back home smiley . And as you probably know already, a visa is just an entry document. Once you're in, there is no need to go and renew it except you plan to travel out of the country while studying.

good evening my people of nairaland, what's the best way to tackle a question when u are asked why are u re applying again cos the applicant works under his dad.

thanks

Everyone should read please and learn from it

@Twoods really I like your person.
You are smart and intelligent
You are blunt and truthful
But there is one thing you still lack as an individual, I don't know if you're someone that easily accepts the truth if you know. YOU LACK WISDOM
OR I SHOULD PROBABLY SAY YOU'RE SHORT ON IT.

You have a warped idea of leadership and wisdom. I’m not surprised, like you, i once thought being a leader meant getting everyone to like you. Bro it’s not. Leadership is courage of conviction. Leadership is doing the right thing at all times, even when everyone else is going the other way. Looking at Nigeria and how desperate you are all to leave, I’d imagine you’d have zero clue what wisdom is even if it slapped you in the face.

Nobody can predict chances. ....i see that statement all the time. The real answer is no one knows anybody chances

If you want to be a student go through the application process and hope for the best

Lol. You fear being turned down once again when your self-confidence is not strong enough to handle this kind of rejection. Honestly speaking, your previous denial is pivotal to your future approval. If you were denied based on that the fact you mispresented information, then you would struggle again to get your visa. Whereas if it's other way round, then you stand a chance. A very good chance. smiley

Sorry but I think you are wrong. I study in California and Spanish is widely spoken in most parts of America. Spanish-speakers colonized many areas that later became part of the United States before English-speakers. Most governments forms and even signs are bilingual. English & Spanish

Lol Sorry ooo, emmmm but if the school is university of lagos, there is a way you can get your transcript without going through school and its stress, the person works at senate also, you could just talk to him and get sorted..........Irony of life.....

I introduced a friend to this thread some times back and he turned a visa agent over night.

Meanwhile, my Alma Mata still refuse to release my transcript on the grounds that they couldn't find my 100level results. This is after 6 years of graduation from the school oooo.

Academic affairs said I should go to dept, my department said I should go to course advisor. Course advisor said I should go to hod. HOD said I should go back to exams and records to hold them responsible because for me to have graduated, obtained degree certificate, and served, then it means all my results had been sent to the Senate as at the time of my graduation.

The only help they are willing to do for me is to convert me to direct entry which won't go well because my proposed school requires WES. and WES requires all my results. I'm frustrated.

Good GPA for that matter. I have been on this transcript issue since July this year. I have missed spring 2018 period, now hoping for fall and yet, no transcript.

I'm depressed, frustrated. Tots of "sniper" have been filling my mind lately.
