How is everyone settling in? The cold nights are here, please stay warm.

If you are based in London and looking for a job, there's a massive recruitment in Amazon fulfilment center based in tilbury. You can look up to it online if interested.

I got rejected at job interview becos my NI number wasnt ready and no proof that they sent me reference number which they did over the phone .

But thank God I got in another place now work for an arm of council .

1st of all lets welcome you on board to uk cold weather and life of enjoyment I refuse to use negative words about uk cos what you say is what you get . Lol hope you enjoyed the flight ? What Airline did you use?

The weather is getting realky cold by the day yhank God for the sun in some days . Dont forget to use hot water bottle to save electric power for oga .

Anyway yes your hubby and you this time are meant to meet up the financial requirements together thsts if you decide to work but if you will not be working then the roller coaster starts again where only him will have to meet up the same 18, 600 fees but if you will be working then you reduced the load on him and you both work and meet the requirements .

The thing about this application fees, is one can't tell when the govt will increase the application fees my advise is just save £3, 500 in a save deposit be on the save side for next phase that should cover the fees and nhs and if you wanna pay for priority . and if its only for you not your child .

For now just make sure hubby puts you on all the bills cos you have to show proof you will need it .
The joint account etc .
Wishing you all the best I believe the next phase should be easy and more relaxing since its more of cohabitation . And financial proof.

Re: Applying For FLR After Your Initial UK Spouse Visa (extension) by joygirl2017(f): 10:10am On Nov 15, 2017
So in a nutshell:
-Council tax
-Collect BRP
-National Insurance
-Electric company
-Gas company ( if you have)
-Water company (both fresh and waste)
- phone bills

Then once you have a letter from one of the utilities or council tax:
-Bank Account
-GP
-Dentist (if any )
-

useful information:
NI number:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number call 0345 600 0643 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm (make sure you state he has been offered a job but requires a NI number) they will ask why you need one although obvious, however you can actually work for up to 12 weeks without an NI number smiley this is issued now by the jobcentre Plus not DWP

You need to get proof of address before you can open a bank account or register with a GP, so make sure those are the first things, check your billing dates for utilities as you could time it to get a bill the following day, as i called the day before my bill was due to be generated (luckily)

Driving Licence ( international licence can be used for 12 months from entering UK)
https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence

And make sure you file any letters for Joint or single names for your next stage FLR as you need to provide proof of cohabitation smiley

I hope this helps smiley

1 - Have you opened a bank account? Have you applied for provisional licence?
2 - NINO application form should arrive within 3 weeks
3 - Yes, start job hunting. If you are allocated a temp NINO prior, all adjustments would be sorted
4 - What's your field? What area are you based? Have you looked thorough job agencies (online & doorstop) Used word of mouth? Physically visited places of interest?

Have you thought about getting a landline?

Job centres are good, but don't hold your breath.....

No links, you just have to put in the leg work and e work....

NB : Don't narrow your search to Administration roles only..... Have you thought of a career change?

Who presently pays the council tax? Or is it also included in the bundled rental package (all inclusive)?

So how do you get bills in your name if landline is out of the question, provisional licence out of the question etc etc etc

Only solution is to get another accommodation that both of you exclusively lives in or in control of the bill payments.

You have to insert your name on a bill, either jointly or exclusively.....

Because when you get a job, a DBS check would be conducted...... Bills also required...... When you get your DBS certificate, register it for auto update service (within 2 weeks of receiving)..... It's about £12.00

If he wants you to get one, just get one jejely (to keep the peace and avoid constant bickering).....

This council tax thingy you need to strategise on how which you will use for your next application if you dont add council tax which will you use for next application cos you need present I think 4 or 3 bills of your full stay u were in the uk .
I know its quite expensive but I had to add it dont want to go through stress for next stage .

The ni number stuff can be annoying , I was refused a job becos of it despite the fact I told them its in view.
Sorry for late reply

NI thing is quite annoying. Been three weeks I returned their forms now. And the energy company were proving difficult until my wife threatened to cut them off and change to another one. Yet to hear from anyone of them.

Back in the good old days, people simply just put their DOB on their application as NINO.

When NINO eventually arrived, you contacted HR for adjustments (no NI contributions would be lost, because adjustments would be made)

NB : Assuming DOB was 110261... Just make it JZ110261D

Welcome to uk and enjoy the chilling weather. Back to Question;

1, The landlord has to include your name in the bills as that's the only proof that you live there. He wouldn't want to cause that will increase the bills even though he collects it with ur house rent angry

2, NI number takes 1 to 2 weeks to be approved as u do not need interview cause all the info they need is already in ur visa. Your hubby need just to call and request for the form.

3, u can hunt and find a job without NI number but ur employer has to see the proof that you are processing one before they will allow u to work. Again, u will be charged excess tax without NI number.

4, there are lots of job vacancies in uk. Just search indeed website, career.Co. Uk and many more. Welcome
Re: Applying For FLR After Your Initial UK Spouse Visa (extension) by Realgeo(m): 11:52pm On Jan 01, 2018
Hello beautiful people of Nairaland. Happy new year to u all.. Info to the new comers,

Once u arrive in uk, make sure u have proof of address as u can not almost do nothing without it. Provisional licence is a proof of address as it carries the address on the card but one needs to have a reference from a British citizen that has a drivers license (that does not relate to u) and ur original document to get one; BRP or international passport and it costs 45 to 50£ to apply for one.

Once proof of address is sorted, every other thing is easier.
