Hmm...SW may have bigger stake in APC, like you wrote, but North controls controls the Party and its activities. If you guys don't 'make your case', you would be 'silent partner' in the party.

okway:

If SW won, it means APC has a run for its money. There was no way for SW to win because the individuals campaigning for chairmanship are irrelevant in the SW. I mean, when was the last time you saw Bode George or Gbenga Daniel in any SW conference or convention.

This is a victory for the SW kiss

APC sucks as equally as PDP, but at least SW has a bigger stake in APC.

Okupe urged aggrieved parties like Chief Olabode George, who pulled out of the race on Friday, not to blame Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, who is backing a candidate from the south-south, Uche Secondus.

Okupe, in an article titled 'Yoruba and National politics', stated that the South-west candidates could have agreed among themselves to bring out a consensus candidate in order to achieve their goal but did not. He wrote;

I read about the withdrawal of chief Bode George from the PDP chairmanship race and i was greatly saddened.

Right from the time of the late sage chief obafemi awolowo till date, the Yoruba race have never truly gotten it right politically at the National level.

The only success we ever recorded politically at the Federal level was the victory of obasanjo at the Presidential polls in 1999.
Ironically it did not have the input of the Yoruba in it, and vintage Yoruba's poor political judgement, the offer of this unprecedented national "gift" (concession) following the unjustifiable denial of MKO Abiola's mandate and unfortunate death was randomly rejected throughout the Yoruba nation.

Throughout history Yorubas are only able to view national politics from only their own perspective always expecting the other nationalities to appreciate their innate and exemplary qualities and accept same as basis for favouring them (Yoruba) in a competitive situation not withstanding the interests and desires of other nationalities.

Truly wether the Yorubas are deserving of the national chairmanship of the pdp is neither here or there.
What exactly is the use of the post of the national chairman when the presidential candidate will be elected a little after 6months. Once the Presidential candidate emerges, the national chairman becomes his senior special assistance fir political administrstion. whatever power he weilds is directly dependent on the grace and benevolence of the candidate and the president if he wins. (see oyegun for reference)

It is quite curious to me that the North has gotten the President and the east the vice president without any struggle or sweat and the Yorubas are killing themselves and begging for a post whose relevance is short lived and will require the goodwill and kindness of a soon to be elected presidential candidate to have any leverage on future political and government appointments .

So what is the logic behind putting some of our bests in a race with little or no benefit for the zone and one that we are obviously disadvantaged to run ab initio?

And if we can actually resign at the 11th hour why did we not seat down, at the early stages and agree for one person to go for it while all others step down and back him with our collective resolve and resources? if indeed this was not all a personal championship race for the candidates and not a struggle on behalf of or for the interest of the Yoruba in the pdp.

And if we really wanted to play politics, we could have approached the northwest zone and make a deal money, which none of the yoruba aspirants has, cannot buy.

the northwest is as desperate for the presidency as we are for the chairmanship. We present them with one candidate and agree to back them in the Presidential primaries which is currently being dominated by Atiku from the north east, presently.

Obviously " the fault is in us not in our stars".
We cannot blame or demonize Wike or Secundus or even criminalise the process because of our lack of the much needed political sagacity to achieve our set goal.
The lesson from history and all of this is that we Yorubas, as a foremost race in this country cannot achieve much politically relying on sentiments or goodwill of others. we need to be coldly calculative and strategic in the pursuits of our political goals and objectives.

Strongest PDP supporters are Yorubas; FFK and Fayose.

PDP knows it can't win anything in the SW they know it.

PDP is dead in the SW.

Buhari is horrible but he just won.

The Name UCHE SECONDUS has always been synonymous with PDP from its inception from the grass roots. He deserves this position and I hope Nigerians will for once pay attention to a new risen power block from the SOUTH SOUTH. Another name is NYESOM WIKE.

North also controls PDP lol

North controls both major parties while the southerners fight among themselves for the crumbs calling themselves names and creating so much enmity to the joy of the slave masters.
Did all northerners not step down for barawo bubu in 2011? Northerners including RibaduN?
Our eyes never clear for south at all.

dasa:
before i start my analysis i got the info. that ribadu has stepped down here.

http://dailytimes.com.ng/article/breaking-nuhu-ribadu-stands-down

ok lets go, 2 reason's.

1.   Ribadu supporters will be split between GEJ and Buhari. Most of Ribadu's Northern supporters will go to Buhari while the souttherners will mostly go to GEJ. And i believe he has more support in the south west than in the north because he is ACN. therefore in the whole equation GEJ gets more votes. There are so many people who believe Buhari cannot be trusted but they want PDP out, so the next best thing is Ribadu.

2.   Because of the late timming, millions of Ribadu/ACN supporters especially in the rural areas will not get the info or understand it. this group will still vote for ACN and the votes cannot be transfered, so those votes will be null. With these votes no longer in the equation, it becomes easier to win a clear majority and reduces the chances of a re run.

Its the same thing that happened when ATIKU emerged consensue candidate. most of the IBB delegates went to GEJ and others voted for IBB and aliyu gussau who where no longer in the race making it easier for GEJ to win.

Just my analysis, what do you think.

It's a shame we are here, it's pathetic we can't charter a way for ourselves as Southerners. We don't love each other, we are too divided to unity, at the end of the day power goes to the Northerners that can't channel a way for a better Nigeria, that can't make the country self dependent, we are here celebrating trash and tribal war.

Our colonial masters made a mistake, we aren't 1, we are too divided and separated to be called 1. Today SS and SE celebrates over SW on what basis? Party chairmanship that ll submit the party structure to the presidential candidate elect (a northerner)

I would appreciate if SS and SE truly loves each other, that would be a progress to southerners, how to bring SW to the table and wage war against these northerners would now be a course but no it can't happen cause we are religious bigotry, we are too tribalistic, we don't love each other, we deprive joy in the shortcomings of one another.

Truth be told, it's a win win for the Northerners. Fu*k both APC and PDP Southerners.

Nigerian deals 'wasted billions
14 March 2008

Some $2.2bn-worth of Nigerian energy contracts were awarded without a bidding process by the former president and his energy minister, officials say.
One was to a company with less than $200 of base capital at the time, a witness told a parliamentary committee.

It is investigating why $16bn of investment in the energy sector during Olusegun Obasanjo's eight years in power failed to end power shortages.
