Why must a Muslim girl remove her hijab before she can practise law in Nigeria? Is there anything offensive about it?

Simple answer, because hijab is not part of the dressing code.

you people are really mad,and the hate for islam will destroy you people.
When d issue of the guy expelled came out,was it related to any religious stuff?

If the law in the country does not respect and recognize the ethics of the quran, then why use it in the law for people to swear with

the quran states a code of conduct,a form of dressing that will give you honor.if not for the madness you people have,a person puts on a small hijab, put on a gown to cover the shoulders and also a cap to cover the upper part, which will even make it less visible.
If you people are truthful and sane, please show me a part in the bible that states how you christians should dress

The dirty hijab is allowed in the call to bar ceremony. The dumb girl is not the only Muslim in that ceremony. She is just exhibiting her terrorist attitude. Next thing I for her to tie a bomb around her waist and give it with the stinky hijab to kill innocent people.

Must it be related to religion before you people speak up? That was what the writer was trying to point out.
You people are just bunch of hypocrites.

America, Britain, SA all have their own code of conducts. I can bet that you people that are shouting "look at America, look at Europe" will never accept the legalization of LGBTQ rights in Nigeria like they have yet you want to open a line of cparison based on your myopic point.

And allowing hijab is not making a mountain out of a mole hill, it is giving rights to one person over another. We should be saying "remove the dresscode completely" not "allow hijab" but of course we want to pursue personal interest

LGTBQ is alien to our constitution. When that changes we can talk about that matter. But covering her hair in this case does not contravene the constitution of Nigeria which is superio to any dress code

As a muslim, can u pray wearing your shoe? or can you enter the place of prayer wearing your shoe?
My point is, we have code of conduct, rules and regulations. That is what you fail to understand. It is not part of the ethic to wear hijab for the ceremony. Does it make Buhari's daughter an infidel? Does it make her mate (from her school) an unbeliever?

I will take your bet! But I pray she win too.

For the record, Oranges and apples are fruit ooo

Going to mosques, they followed a set of rules and regulations , not wearing shoes, facing east like that or something, but a law school rules and regulations the girl can't follow , hypocrite ni gbogbo won

Re: Kayode Bello, The Lawless School, And The Hijab Cry by bamzkid: 9:25am On Dec 17, 2017
The Fact is if that aspect is allowed in the law school I mean using an hijab inside the bar that gives another meaning, the law support all religion beliefs but there mustn't be any physical attachment to it imaging as a celestial member who is a surgeon wearing there spiritual wears inside the theater hall...... that brings a mix up if that is allowed, the court would have been messed up because many other religions would also like to put on what their. religion directs them to do.

Remove the dress code.
Let the nuns, the hijabites, the jews and others be free to express themselves. Provided they're dressed neatly and smartly.

Being a lawyer is not a constitutional right, it is a priviledge that comes with strict rules.

If you want to allow hijab, fine, but change the rules (and change the rules totally) first

**** That's what logical people do not write articles with no facts but just personal and ignorance laced opinions. Is this what writing has been reduced to sef? SMH.

First. You would do well to read slowly. Since you can't seem to understand basic analogies as exposed by your poorly written response.. Let me help you with examples of things that contravene a human's basic rights as regards religion.

1. Jews don't take non kosher things so forcing them to eat pork would amount to an infringement of their rights to practice their religion. In countries where law works and to an extent citizens rights are upheld. It is simple and a no brainer.. Let me give you a real life example of this.

"Bruce Rich, an Orthodox Jewish prisoner in Florida, wanted kosher meals, but the warden said no.

So Rich sued the state prison system in 2010, saying its denial of a kosher menu violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000, a landmark civil law rights law for inmates whose predecessor was the federal religious freedom law.

After losing before a magistrate, Rich won an appeal before the 11th Circuit Court, which cited "the defendant's meager efforts to explain why Florida's prisons are so different from the penal institutions that now provide kosher meals such that the plans adopted by those other institutions would not work in Florida."

2. Muslim women don't ever open their hair in public places. Forcing them to in a public function goes against their religious beliefs and is an infringement of their rights to practice their religion.

"The Supreme Court also recently affirmed the rights of job applicants who require a religious accommodation, ruling in favor of an applicant who wore a headscarf that would go against Abercrombie & Fitch’s “Look Policy." You can read the brief here.
https://www.aclu.org/legal-document/eeoc-v-abercrombie-fitch-amicus-brief

That's another example. Should I go on?

I don't need to go back and forth with anyone. This would be my last response as regards this issue. If you can't see the clear differences. Then I can't help you.

The law school is a public entity and not a private sorority club. They would do well to follow the principles and guidelines of the Constitution.
